I just finished the Red dwarf book, and in that the ship is powered by a giant cone thing that collects scattered hydrogen in space, which reacts with something and propels the ship...would that be at all plausible? If that worked it would be great down here on earth to power cars/planes
3nodding No, because hydrogen here on earth is in water mainly and few if any hydrogen atoms are by itself as it is in space.
