There isn't many threads in here so here's one that goes with this forum. Anyway, my two favorite authors are: HP Lovecraft & Clive Barker. I'd have to say my favorite horror novel would be the Books of Blood by Clive Barker. And anything by Lovecraft. Praise Cthulhu!

I haven't actually read much horror aside from a handful of books so I couldn't name a favourite. I do like Richard Laymon. And Clive Barker is cool.

Stephen King, Anne Rice (although her books really aren't technically horror), Dean Koontz, John Saul and a few others.

i don't understand the big deal about stephen king. i've read a couple of his novels and the best of them were trite, garbled, poorly-written trash. i tried to read 'cell', which was a great concept, very fast-paced and fascinating, but i had to stop because his writing was so bloody awful and i had to slog through all these badly executed action sequences with a bunch of characters i didn't give a s**t about. i had to work so hard to figure out what was going on and then when i did i realized it wasn't worth it. so SCREW that guy.
i think palahniuk should write more horror. 'haunted' made me giggle and vomit at the same time.

vita grotesk i think palahniuk should write more horror. 'haunted' made me giggle and vomit at the same time. I agree, sickly funny. One of my other favorite horror authors is Brian Lumley. He does the Necroscope series. Good stuff.

Christopher Pike has always stuck with me. His grasp of tension has always fascinated me. Mark Danielewski doesn't really qualify as a horror author, since he's only published one book in the genre, but House of Leaves is by far the most frightening book I've read in years.

I'm a huge fan of the Anne Rice books, i am currently re-reading Interview with a Vampire. It is brilliantly written. I'm at the part where Armand appears on the scene. ^_^
