I used to ride until the farm where I kept my pony was shut down and I had to sell my pony. crying
It was fun while it lasted though. I had a few nasty spills (the worst one being where I fell and hit a rock which then gave a huge bruise. it looked like a big, purple lemon stuck to my side) but being able to ride in gerneral outweighed the falling.
Ooh, and I miss the competitions too. I used to compete in 4-H horse shows which were open to everyone. My best event was probably pole bending. I loved barrel racing too.
I miss my ponies. I had Cinnamon. He was a red roan with white freckles on his backside. He was sooo spunky! Always escaping from his stall. I got him when I about 8.
Then there was Coffee. She actually belonged to the farm caretaker's son who didn't want her anymore because she was lame. My mom and I took care of her though and once we had figured out what was wrong with her and fixed the problem, the owner's suddenly wanted her back stare
My favorite was definately Beauty. She was a really old palamino pony. When we first got her she had worms and her deeth were rotting out of her head and everybody said she should be put out of misery. The caretaker gave her to my and my mom and we managed to bring her back to life. She was such a sweet pony too. I loved her to pieces. Unfortunately, she died in her sleep. She was happy and healthy though, that's what matters.
I haven't been riding since we had to sell Cinnamon (we had him the longest) and that was about 5 years ago. I really hope to get another horse someday... or several lol.

I used to ride our horse, but one time I tried riding our burro. She was wild at first, then somebody domesticated her. She took off from underneath me and tossed me right to the ground. I didn't try riding her again.

wow.. this thread is pretty old, but I'll post anyway.
I still horseback ride, and I've riden for about three years so far. Infact, I just fell of one of the school horses yesterday on my tailbone, and I really hope I don't need an x-ray.. I love to canter, jump and sit trot, but I absolutely HATE rising trot. I am not coordinated with it at all, and I look extremely retarted when I attempt to do it. I need help with keeping my heels down, and I need to learn how to 'hump the air' .. XP I love riding so much, and the relationship you get between yourself and your horse after riding them for a long period of time.

I used to have two horses, a Saddlebred and a American Paint.
But we had to sell the Saddlebred to a friend of my mums, and the Paint had always been leased so we just gave him to the lady the leased him.I miss both of them, expessally the Saddlebred.I was going to show in Saddleseat that year, but...I guess that never happened.Same with the paint, though I would have been showing him in Halter, Lead, or some Westren Pleasure classes.
I miss them both. crying
