Okay, I travel a lot, even if it is just domestically to and from college, but here it goes. So this past winter, returning from a regional flight, Fresno-Denver-Helena, I arrived an hour and a half early for my flight, only to wait in a line and find out that they canceled my connecting flight through Denver to Helena without telling me or notifying me (mind you I had been checking my itenerary every day for the past two weeks prior to this).
By the time United got this all sorted out, my plane was to depart in fifteen minutes, and there was a massive line for security. When I arrived at the gate, they weren't letting anyone else on. AND MY BAG WAS ALREADY ON THE PLANE!
To make matters worse, I wasn't the only person left behind. SO, ultimately, when they were booking us on another flight, they were going to charge me another $70 USD to get on the next flight, so I had to leave the secure area and bring this up to the front counter people. Luckily for me, the person I got the second time around was more efficient and managed to hold my bag in Denver until the flight later that evening. Besides that, for putting me on the later flight and switching the first flight, they did not charge me a thing. $140 dollars worth of charges waived.
