Cassius had never, ever, in his entire unlife, felt so helpless as he did at that moment. It didn't seem to matter how hard he struggled, or how much he kicked or clawed at his brother. He had, perhaps foolishly, thought that just by having a God as a father, he would always be fine.
This was proof of otherwise. He wasn't special. He was just another young, clanless vampire. And if how the events of tonight were unfolding was any indication of his future, he was going to stay that way.
Blows rained down on him, and his arms could only block so much, tired and in pain. He could feel his eyes swelling, and blood oozed from several fresh wounds. It wasn't until the moment when he didn't think he could take anymore that he felt himself being lifted by this throat, and thrust against the balcony barrier.
So this was it. This was how his unlife was going to end. And with the promise that more was in store for the rest of them.
Cassius growled, and attempted, almost feebly, to twist himself out of that grasp. When that did him no good, he spat blood in Zap's face and glared at him balefully from behind eyelids nearly swollen shut.

Zapathasura suddenly gasped. The hold on Cassius’s neck loosened and he was allowed to slump to the ground. He stood there wide eyes before burying his face in his hands. “I’m sorry brother.”
With out a glance Zapathasura left.

His vision blurred and darkened, his eyes sliding closed. He felt so weak, and now a hunger burned inside of him as well, alighting his nerves on fire. He thought for sure that this was the end. He didn't hear the gasp, only felt the grip loosen, and distantly, felt his as his body hit the ground. Zapathasura was speaking, but Cass could barely make out the words, his head wracked with pain, his shoulder punctured, and torn from his struggle. He let out a weak moan, and it took nearly everything left in him just to move himself to lie down on the floor. A wave of dizziness overtook him, and darkness rose in his vision, spotty at first but it spread rapidly. Everything hurt. Everything. His last thought before he fell out of consciousness, was for Emppu. He hoped he would be okay, on his own. ------------ Lights flickered, and darkness dimmed the room for just a brief moment, at the same time, the atmosphere seemed to feel incredibly heavy, though it only lasted a second, maybe two. Appearing before the crumpled figure of his son was an imposing figure and with him was his Disciple, Ravnos. The God dropped his hand from his partner's shoulder and turned, stooping down to where Cassius lay, bloodied, beaten, and broken. But still alive. Or unalive as it were. Not beyond repair, at least.

“How is he?” Rwvnos’s voice was full of concern. He knew if Cassius survived he would be able to heal rather wuickly. But what about the mental trauma? Being beaten like that could leave deep scars.
His eyes widened as he took in the damage that Zapathasura had wrought. He felt as if he should fall to his knees and beg forgiveness from Grendel but now was not the time. Nor did he have it in him right now to deal with that.
Ravnos sniffed the air. Closing his eyes as he concentrated on his son’s scent. The feel of his frantic energy and which way it had run off. After a moment he had a clear picture of just where Zapathasura was heading.

Grendel could only see so much unless he turned back time, and the Discipline of Temporis was not one he felt comfortable using. The God shrugged his shoulders. "He will heal." But as for the trauma...Well, that would depend. Grendel placed a hand on Cassisu's bloodied forehead and searched, eyes closing as he scanned his memories.
"This...this was senseless violence. Cassius did nothing to provoke him to do this, that I can see." The God's eyes had bled black, and his sharp fangs grew longer, protruding over his lower lips as his anger spiked.
"Find him. Before I do." He growled, and there was a threat there. If Ravnos valued his son's unlife at all, he best deal with this, and quickly.

Ravnos picked up on the threat immediately.
Turning he vanished into the shadows without uttering a word.

Emppu had indeed stayed below, as his mate had requested, looking around the club from where he had stood. Somehow, the gathered dancers had managed to get between him and the staircase and he found himself shoved and jostled unwillingly further from where Cassius had gone. He continued to try to push his way back through the throng towards the staircase, but it wasn't until Cassius had been held against the barricade on the balcony that he was finally able to shove and claw his way through the now staring former-dancers towards the stairs, shoving his way into the area as hard and fast as he could, not caring if he left handfuls of his hair and fur in the hands of the bouncers as he clawed his way past them. Cassius needed him. He'd been stupid to let the other go up there alone. He almost audibly screeches to a halt upon seeing a figure near Cassius' body. The male looked vaguely familiar to Emppu, although he couldn't be bothered to place where or why right now, his focus more on the status of his mate. He hurriedly closes the distance to where Cassius lay and drops down beside the other, reaching out and gently pulling Cassius into his lap and arms, growling at the damage done to his mate. It wasn't until he was curled protectively around Cassius' body that he shifts his attention back to Grendel, no longer growling, or at least not growling at Grendel specifically, in any case, before he speaks. "I... I failed him...." His voice, while being low and had a hint of a growl to it, was more filled with loathing. Loating at himself and at what had been done to Cassius.

Once Ravnos had departed, Grendel got to work. While he would not heal Cassius of his physical wounds, he could still ease some of his mental trauma. He would not forget what had occurred here, but he need not let this experience define him. He wanted his son to keep his fighting spirit intact, and not give up. He smoothed away the newly forming fractures in his mind, the worries that Zap would go after his mate and his family next, and the feelings of unworthiness and defeat. He made that he did not erase the important things, such as common sense or caution, the things that he would have learned and grown from, and that would aid him in the future. When he was finished, he rose. He could hear a commotion on the stairs and he glanced toward it, stepping back when he saw a familiar figure approach. Ah. So this was who his son had mated. If Grendel had not been in such a foul mood, he might have smiled. Emppu. One of his original followers. Embraced by Lilitu under the God's guidance. It had been many many years, but Grendel remembered it clearly. Days when he had great aspirations for himself before Caine had torn them away. "No." The God said, with a shake of his head. "This is not on you." Behind him, his shadows writhed, an indication of his own impatience, of how he longed to leave and find Zapathasura before Ravnos could. But he was giving the Disciple time. "He will be hungry when he awakens. Incredibly so. A lot has been taken from him, to keep him from succumbing to final death. You must ensure he has something to eat upon awakening, or he may go into frenzy."

Emppu listens as Grendel speaks, but his attention had turned back to his mate. When Grendel mentions needing to ensure Cassius has something to eat upon awakening, he frowns deeply for a moment in thought. First, he'd have to get his mate out of here and someplace that he considered safe. Then he'd have to go hunt. While Cassius might prefer a mortal to feed from, Emppu didn't want to be responsible for a mortal being drained of all life, if Grendel's words about the other going into a frenzy were true. So he'd have to find some large wild animal and hope it helped Cassius at least until the other could hunt for himself and keep the beast in check. His gaze flicks back up to the god and he squints for a moment, as the feeling of familiarity races back to him upon seeing the other. "Thank you. I will have to get him somewhere I feel safe, in that case..." He pauses for a moment before giving in to his curiosity. "Do I.... know you? You seem familiar, yet I'm unsure why..." Emppu did not remember much from the night that he'd been given unlife, mostly because he and Sebastien had been drunk off their asses from partying entirely too much at the death metal concert they'd been at. He remembered the one that had claimed to have turned him, of course, since she'd taken to trying to drill things into his head upon his awakening as a vampire, but he had little recollection of what else had transpired.

Ah, so Emppu did not remember him. That was only slightly disappointing, and he might have given it more thought if he wasn't already very eager to be on his way. If he had to guess at anything, however, it would be that since Caine had put an end to Grendel's ambitions, all of the followers he had gathered had just...gone on to lead their unlives as usual, as clanless vampires, with no affiliation to anybody.
Sometime's the God did wonder what had become of Lilitu, his most loyal follower. But he had moved on from those times. Onto bigger and better things.
In the end, he had gotten everything that he wanted.
"Yes, you know me, as all vampires do." He said, deciding not to go into any detail. Moving closer, he decided to impart his son with one last gift, and he kneeled down to him and pressed a hand against his chest.
Magic flowed. Old magic. Magic of the God's. He weaved with it a protection spell, something to ward off harm, should something like this ever happen again. Cassius would not become stronger, but he would be more impervious to taking on damage.
When finished, he looked Emppu in the eyes, blackened gaze with a pulse of red glowing somewhere deep, deep within. "Look after my son, Emppu Lunaris." His voice commanded though he doubted the command was needed. Somewhere deep inside, he almost wished that Cassius was awake so that he might have met him.
Ah well.
In the blink of an eye, the God was gone.

After Grendel left, Emppu picks Cassius up and heads out of the club, carrying his mate out away from the city and finding a secluded cave to recover in. After making sure the cave is empty of occupants, and has been for quite some time, he gently sets Cassius down and heads out into the woods, soon catching a large animal and dragging it back to the cave and setting it near Cassius for when the other awoke. The animal wasn't dead, just knocked out. Emppu would continue knocking it out if need be until Cassius was awake to feed from it.
