Ravnos blinked slowly as Frendel’s irritation bubbles to the surface. It was obvious that all of this concerned the God a great deal. He wasn’t making light of his concerns, he just had no frame of reference.

“But killing your father would give you no resolution.” He said calmly. While they had spent so much time together Ravnos would not want to be one to just assume that hat. But Grendel didn’t seem to be one who liked an easy out. An endless night did sound kind of nice. “Having to deal with all of Faetasia sounds like a hassle.”

He was glad at least that Grendel seemed to agree with him on how easy it was. “Do you ever think that there are other powers out there that like to exert a little too much influence on others for fun?” He didn’t expect an answer, he as just grasping at straws.

Leaning forward in his chair he placed a hand over the one Grendel had on the table. “If you are worried than I am worried. What about us or me are you worried about?” He couldn’t help himself and gave the hand a small squeeze. Are you afraid I wouldn’t want to see you again or something? Hardly.”

Grendel quickly shook his head. "No, it would not. I do not want to kill him. It would do me no favours to do so." He agreed and then smiled a strained smile. Ravnos had a way of taking things that had been weighing heavily on the God's mind and making them not seem all that bad. "I did say that it offers what it thinks I want. It also makes it all sound very enticing, somehow. It has been...difficult for me to ignore." Besides, what he offered up to Ravnos was only a small portion of what the whispers tried to entice him with. It was hard to explain the draw of it, to one who wasn't experiencing it themselves.

Still, he appreciated that the Disciple was doing his best to keep things in perspective. Grendel had needed that, even if he hadn't been expecting it when he first decided to come.

At the vampire's next words Grendel frowned, and then said slowly. "Well...I did wonder who may have created a Crusnik, if that is what I find." But who would go through all that trouble, and why? Just to mess with him? He shifted in his seat, mulling that over when he felt Ravnos's hand slide over the top of his own.

He didn't really know how to answer that question, so he posed another one, setting his gaze on the Disciples eyes and holding it there.

"What are we to each other, Ravnos?"

Another agreement. Good. At least he could say to himself that he knew Grendel in that aspect. Killing Caine outright would most certainly be the poor path to choose. “Did Cernunnos. It give you anymore information about it? Like I don’t know how to shut the whispering off?” He didn’t think it would of been that easy but certainly the Angelique has to know something. Or perhaps Grendel just didn’t feel it important to ask. If he were In the position he would have, but that was him. Ravnos, even before he was turned into a Vampire, always questioned. Always wanted to know if there were any gimmicks or extensive information about things if something was vague.

“It all sounds pretty mysterious and just a little suspicious to me now. Not so much at the time when we were learning all this information but now with you telling me this….” He paused. “All things are created for.a purpose in mind. The same with you, the same with me. So someone had to have created the Crusnik and well…we both know for what purpose that was.”

A charming smile parted his lips as his dark eyes lidded half way. “What do you want us to be to each other?”

Grendel tried to think back. He knew he probably should have listened more, but the Angelique was, frankly, hard to listen to. "He said...Chaos's daughters forbade its use by anyone." Was that helpful? Probably not, so he tried to remember more. "Ah yes, I did ask what it would do to me if I held it. He said something about it rending my flesh and breaking my body down until I no longer existed...Well, that didn't quite happen." He glanced at the hand that was holding his drink, the one with the glove still on it.

"So someone creates the Crusnik, knowing that I will have to do something about it, and the same someone, manipulates it so that I get exactly what I need to kill it? Why?" It just didn't make any sense! Unless actually using the weapon would trigger something else. But if he didn't use the weapon, the Crusnik would continue on its rampage.

Bah. He hated these games.

It was that damn smile that got him, next. He had asked a question, and not only had Ravnos turned it back on him, but he did it with that smile, and that look in his eyes. Something in the God's chest twisted, but not necessarily in a bad way.

"I want us to be together." He admitted. It was the truth and a simple one at that. "I just don't know how that is going to work."

“Chaos’s daughters?” He repeated. Ravnos knew little of many other Gods but Chaos was a heavy hitter. She was essentially the mother of just about every God save for a few. But he didn’t know anything about her daughters. The next part he was less than thrilled about hearing l. “Did he say it would be quick or slow?” A slight hint of worry flickered through his eyes. That was definitnot something he enjoyed hearing.

The whispering sand enticements aside.

“That I could not tell you.” Ravnos admitted. While he thought himself pretty smart he couldn’t even begin to guess other’s reasons for things. “They could just be bored for all I know.”

His smile didn’t waver though. Perhaps it even grew a little bit wider as the Disciple tucked a stray hair behind his ear. “I want that too.” But he also knew that that wouldn’t be easy. Grendel was a God. He was a Vampire, a Disciple yes, but he was no creature of divinity. Grendel had his responsibilities and so did he. But it was hard to imagine it being any other way. Of not being with Grendel. “If it wasn’t obvious I care about you. A lot.” Ravnos laughed, shaking his head lightly. He was a fool. “Do we need to figure it out right now? Can we just be with each other and cross that bridge when we get there as they say?”

That was a good question. Grendel had gotten the impression it would be very quick like he wouldn't even be able to leave the armoury before he would be burned up on the spot. But then Cernunnos had given him the glove, and he was able to hold the Spear, their battle of wills cut off completely, save for the voices. He offered Ravnos the smooth rise and fall of his shoulders in a shrug and a slight shake of his head. He just did not know, but it had now been days. He didn't feel different, except for the tiredness, but he assumed that was from an extreme amount of over-exertion on his own part.

He felt as though the conversation about the Spear and Crusnik both had exhausted itself. There was nothing more to say unless Ravnos could think of anything else to ask him about it. While Ravnos's early dismissal of everything he had told him had been initially irritating, the God felt better about it now, realizing that the Disciple gave his own opinions freely and that he obviously looked at things from angles that Grendel did not. It was reassuring, and rational. It offered stability. The two of them were just so different, and yet...

It really was as though Ravnos were already his better, more sensible half.

He sat in quiet contemplation for a time, turning his hand over in Ravnos's so that he could hold it better. He smiled in response to the other's words, and interjected with, "Really? I hadn't noticed.". The tension he had felt from the moment he arrived continued to ease. He felt lighter, and he smiled into his glass before he finished off his second drink and set it down.

"No, I suppose it can wait..." His voice trailed off, and he closed his eyes, a shiver of whispers running along his spine that he needed to suppress. Opening his eyes again, full of intensity, they found Ravnos's and held them. "I do intend to be with you, as much and as often as I am able, as duty allows it. We have tonight, but when you sleep, I will go and begin my hunt. Afterwards...well, so long as I live, I will always come back to you."

There. The promise was made, and it was a promise he felt confident he could keep.

Ravnos had a sinking feeling in his stomach. While he may not of made it clear outwardly what all he was thinking the look of unease was plain to see on his face. Why did the Gods have to play games like this? There was always an extra kea int to everything they said and did. Some tiny little detail that they would leave out just to get you in the end.

Grendel was not like this. And that made him glad. He couldn’t deal with games like that. But then perhaps he was dealing with it. Inadvertently being drawn in by it. Who knew:

He laughed a breathy laugh while squinting his eyes at the God. “We’ll if you hadn’t noticed then I guess I haven’t been trying hard enough.” He closed his hand around Grendel’s giving it a light squeeze.

‘So long as I live….’

Those words echoed in his head. They were ominous and unwanted. Lingering in his mind like poison. He didn’t want to think about that. Not now. Not while he was with him.

But then came the promise. The one he had asked for previously but one that had been met with silence. It made him….giddy? Was that the word he was looking for to describe this feeling? Maybe excited? It was hard, surprisingly. For him to attach a word to the way it made him feel. How a tingle ran up and down his spine when Grendel had said it.

“Good. I will hold you to that then. And if you don’t come back I’ll come kick your a** in wherever it is God’s go when they….die?” To be honest he wasn’t sure what happened if a God DID die which was rare in and of itself. Sliding from his chair he ran his fingers up the arm of the hand he had been holding as he learned over Grendel in his own seat. “I’ll do it to because I’m very goal orientated when I have a reason to be.” He grinned before kissing Grendel’s cheek and then moving to his neck, leaving a trail of kisses from ear to collar bone up and down the length of his neck. He only momentarily had to resist the urge to bite the God. That hadn’t been the best thing the last time although it did, what Ravnos could only assume, trigger a strange connection that he had yet to understand.

Grendel watched as the Disciple approached him, a small smile playing along his lips. His touch sent tingles racing along the God's skin, a warmth spreading across his chest. It was easier to ignore the whispers like this because he was so focused on Ravnos, on how he made him feel, and that feeling drowned out all else.

He let out a dark chuckle at the vampire's words, running gloved fingers back through loose hair and pushing it back from his face. "Well then, I'll just..." He let out a breath, shivering against the kisses along his skin, his eyes going half-lidded. "Need to do my best to make sure that doesn't happen." He somehow managed to finish saying, though he could feel himself quickly losing a battle against rational thought the more Ravnos continued.

He probably wouldn't have even minded if the Disciple had bit him, at that moment.

He pushed back his chair, a silent invitation should Ravnos wish to join him in it, or draw him up and take him elsewhere in the room.

All though about Daughters of Chaos, spears and other things they had talked about that Ravnos didn’t want to think about right now we’re pushed to the side. He had controlled himself for as long as he could at this point. Every time Grendel had looked at him all he wanted to do was kiss him. Run his claws through his long hair.

Make him gasp so softly it was almost inaudible.

Well, he had almosr succeeded in that lad part. But there was still time however fleeting it might be. And right now the God was all his. He didn’t want to think about duties and what this all might mean for them in the future. That was the future. This was now.

Climbing into Grendel’s lap he wrapped his arms around his neck. Running claws through his hair and against his scalp as he locked lips with him. This was what he had wanted since Grendel had appeared again.

He pulled back slightly to speak. “ Enough talk now. The night doesn’t last forever.”

It may have only been a couple of weeks since they had last been together, but Grendel basked in the moment as if he had been much, much longer. He disliked knowing that they couldn't be together in a more conventional sense, but he was also willing, and happy, to take whatever he could get when it came to the Disciple. He knew that this was real, and for better or worse, it was not going to go away. He was, for lack of a better word, absolutely smitten. These things didn't just happen, with the Gods. No, it tended to be quite permanent.

And while it may not have been an ordinary pairing, Grendel was absolutely okay with that.

When Ravnos moved to his lap, the vampire God nearly lost his mind with lust. He moved his hands to the Disciples shoulders, pulling him in down while leaning up and into the kiss, shivering again, though this time because of claws that ran against his scalp. His mouth parted in response, a moan that was stifled, his own fingers now threading through Ravnos's hair keeping him there, a silent demand for more.

It wasn't as though either of them ever needed to come up for air.

Ravnos smiled when he moaned. The sound of it music to his ears as he nibbled at Grendel’s lip then along his jawline. Down his neck. The sensation to bite came flooding back and in the heat of the moment he couldn’t control himself. Fangs slid out and into the God’s neck but he didn’t drink the blood that flowed into his mouth. He merely bit. Enjoying the sensation of flesh between his teeth.

His hands running down Grendel’s back, over his shoulders and down his chest. Lower with each moment.

He sighed into the bite before pulling back and laying a trail of kisses down over the God’s chest. “Should we move to some place a bit more comfortable? There’s a fireplace with a rather nice rug in the next room…” He asked between kisses. If Grendel wanted to move they could.

Ravnos wished this could go on forever. That they could just be alone with no responsibilities. But that Unfortunately was not the hand either of them had been delt. They would never be together like a real couple and that made him kind of sad. What he wouldn’t give to be able to stay by Grendel’s side always. The God wouldn’t have to come and go in his unlife like so many others had.

Ravnos moved away from Grendel's mouth and the God could only utter a small sound of protest before he found himself enthralled with more teasing along his neck, his eyes nearly closing as he let his head tilt back, though they flew open again and he let out a loud hiss of breath, the bite on his neck fully unexpected.

Being magiced here.and there always have Ravnos a funny feeling. Like every little piece of his was on fire and tingling. Or maybe it felt like that because he was with Grendel.

The fire crackled, totally unnecessary as neither of them were probably cold. Although it was a bit chilly that night. Summer had vegun its slow decent into fall but the passing of time meant nothing to the Dosciple. He had seen it all and really time and the changing of the seasons just ran together. Before he knew it it would be summer again.

His hands moved to remove his shirt which he carelessly tossed to the side. His dark eyes half lidded as he stared into Grendel’s eyes. This is where he wanted to be. With Grendel no where else could compare.

“I love you….” The words were breathy but there he had said it. Though to be honest he probably didn’t need to. Not after all this. But it was nice to give it some substance. Some acknowledgment. Even if Grendel didn’t say it in return he knew the God cared for him. Why else would he be here and continue to keep coming back to him? He was a good lay sure but there was something more. Something deeper that drew him in
PostPosted: Mon Oct 17, 2022 5:20 pm

The words jolted at something deep inside Grendel, electrifying, and the moment it was said, everything slowed. Time stood still while he processed it, wondering how it had never occurred to him before. He was a God who had always acted on more basic feelings, not caring about finding a mate but enjoying mortal indulgences. He'd been seduced, persuaded, and had children in the past and while he couldn't say those experiences meant nothing to him, they didn't hold the same weight as this.

Was this love? Is this what love felt like?

There was something inside of him that flickered with uncertainty. Gods didn't fall in love with mortals. And yet...he knew this was something much different than anything he'd felt before. He knew that something had drawn him to Ravnos, long ago, even if he'd never pursued that connection to find out why. He knew that he had fought against a desire for many years because he was berated, scolded, and told time and time again that the things he felt were a weakness, a disease. He was told what was expected of him. A divine match. Beholden to duty.

He had refused one while throwing himself into the other.

And now...

And now he stared up into the dark eyes of a deviant wanderer, one who drove him crazy (in more ways than one), who did his best to understand him, who accepted him, who wanted him despite significant differences between them. Who, apparently, loved him.

Grendel was struck with desperate need, with desire and longing that ached in his chest. And happiness, the happiest he'd ever felt in his long existence. It was an all-consuming, painful and wonderful thing.

Was this love?

He blinked, the warm glow of his eyes had brightened. He opened his mouth to speak but a hitch in his chest stopped the words from coming out. His face felt warm, too warm, and it had nothing to do with the fire crackling nearby.

I love you too. His voice whispered, the words carrying the weight of all of those emotions that he hadn't been able to place until that moment. He sat up, and his ungloved hand reached for Ravnos's face, thumb caressing his jaw as he leaned in for a kiss that was deliberately slow, something more tender than the usual desperate need that seemed to possess them both.

I love you too...

If his heart still functioned it would have skip a beat. A hard beat.

The words in his head echoed and his body grew hot at the returned admission. He loved him too.

Ravnos, who had been with quite a few others. Sired children. Even had grandchildren and great grandchildren. But none of the mothers of his children he could actually say he had loved. Lusted for sure but not loved. And he could not say he had any love for his children either.

But Grendel.

He gave Ravnos stirrings he had not felt for centuries . The last time he had felt anything close to this was when he was still alive living with his family in the caravan. But even then that was just familial love. It was not this aching feeling in his chest. The feeling of not being able to breath.l not that he really needed to.

Leaning into the kiss he matched the pace. Slow and hungry for more as he wrapped his arms around Grendel’s neck and pulled him up closer to him so that their bodies met.

What he felt in this moment crackled and blazed like the fire that cast heavy shadows around the pair as they sat there locked in one another’s embrace. The blood from feeding earlier pumping through his body at a rapid pace made a rushing sound in his ears.

How had he been so easily ensnared by this? For so long Ravnos had avoided such a thing but now? Now he wanted it. He needed it. He craved it with every fiber of his being: The Disciple just wanted to stay here, just like this.

Forever

But he knew they couldn’t so they would have to make the most of this time together. He leaned back, pulling Grendel down on top of him as he came to rest on the rug. “Forever and always….” He whispered, momentarily breaking the kiss to speak again before resuming. It was a declaration that Ravnos would not make lightly. He loved Grendel and that was that. No one else could come first in his mind.
