She didn't respond directly to him, but that was ok too. And then the final big push came. Belengath pointed his nose upwards. His muscles burned. His breath came in short gasps. But he wasn't going to give up just yet. She wanted a chase and he would provide at least that much. Choose well Kleoth. As only you can. For Pern does rest upon your shoulders.

Bronze Nasath

Pros: Patient, loving, steadfast, confident.
Cons: Bossy, lazy when A'iel's not looking, impolite.

The feel of teeth peppering his hide was nothing compared to the insult Pipith dared hurl at him. NOT here to look at him?? Of COURSE she was! Nasath was the greatest bronze around, and he lashed out in turn, scoring his own minor snip against his fellow male. I doubt Kleoth would notice you even if you flew right into her! Get out of my way if all you're going to do is yell at me instead of chasing her!

Of course, he himself was hardly doing any better, more distracted by his anger at continuously being just too far away, just too well hidden by the other males, never getting what attention he felt was rightfully his!

Aleyath's concentration sharpened until he and Kleoth were the only dragons in the sky, speeding toward the stars. He, too, was drained, but he would not lose. Would not. Would...

His hearts raced. He did as she asked. He chased.

To think Kleoth had fretted over the thought of her maiden flight, worried she would err when it came to selecting a suitor. Though she was of the opinion that Western dragons were a cut above, the bronzes and browns today had surprised and pleased her with their willingness to go above and beyond for her. She would remember this and be grateful. Some of them had proved themselves through battle prowess. Others had been clever or charming, while some simply remained steadfast in their pursuit of her. It was a showing that even she hadn't expected.

She folded her wings, allowing gravity to pull her down into a heart-wrenching fall even as she plummeted, her claws extending as she reached for the one she'd deemed worthy. Have you the strength for one last battle? Or has Nasath captured your attention? She taunted, lashing out at Pipith with claws that sought to hold, rather than maim. He had fought admirably in her name, refusing to shy away from the glory of combat to show his strength and stamina.

There was no more time for worry or regret. She had made her selection, and she was satisfied.

----

Phryana's sense of self blurred once more as her dragon made her decision, threatening to overwhelm her entirely. It took a real effort to focus, and after a moment more of looking over her suitors, she couldn't help but laugh softly to herself. "I can't decide," She said simply, lifting her shoulders in a shrug. "Not on just one." Why settle if she didn't have to? Naturally, she doubted that would be everyone's cup of tea, but they could find their pleasure elsewhere.

With a gesture of her head, she'd lead the adventurous back to her hut. It was sure to be a... productive evening.

When Nasath had snapped at him in turn, Pipith had barely felt the graze of his fangs, and the juvenile insults simply rolled right off of his hide as he climbed higher after the golden huntress, for his true focus had never wavered. He was here for one reason, and one reason only, and that was to win, by any means necessary, and today the means had been to fight tooth and claw for victory, just as he had done all his life. He would not be stopped, whether by snips and barbs or by aching muscles, and he snarled out his determination in defiance of any outcome but victory.

He has already had more of my attention than he is worth. My strength is yours. A hundred battles and more would not have been too many if she had asked it; he'd have flown and fought until his lungs burned and ichor ran in rivers down his hide. This was a battle worth everything he had to give.

As Kleoth fell, glistening in the ever-dimming light, he surged forward into the embrace of her claws, revelling as they found their mark - and all the better if those marks were permanent - and grasped her with his own claws in turn, his eyes shining violet. The time for words, or even thoughts, was done.

NPC Bronze Baloroth
________________________

Seeing Kleoth tuck into her freefall, her claws stretching out to her chosen hunter, Pipith, Baloroth craned his head around to take quick account of those remaining on the wing. So many were fierce in their battles or determined in their chase, fine skills shown across many fronts this evening. He was happy for Pipith and Kleoth, for Western with their clutch to come, but with no intention on returning to wallow or ledge alone without addressing the thrum of instincts that had propelled him from the ground in the first place, the scarred, one-eyed bronze made a quick decision. He flew a bit higher, felt a thermal bolster him up, and then rolled in the air to face one who had flown higher and faster than he himself had, wings spread to slow himself, his eye a warm violet purple. 'Auriath, you've flown admirably tonight. I might not be the prettiest thing in the sky, but, if you so wish it, I would be glad to catch you...Shall we fall together?' He asked with a spread of his claws, a show that he was ready if the other was willing.

----------

R'en, not so adventurous as to follow the leaving goldrider, for a moment his awareness caught up with that of his bondmate. He spun in place, mirroring his bronze's turn. Auriath? No, Kito. "Kito?" His voice was husky from the heady mix of feelings from his dragon, from the caught up queen. He swallowed in an attempt to clear the impassioned hoarseness from his throat with little success. He looked to the lean, handsome younger rider and reached out both of his hands to him, palms up. An inquiry and offer to catch of his own. "Might I steal you away tonight?"

Uskatath snarled as Kleoth fell into the claws of some small, insignificant bronze. How disappointing, really--he'd had such high hopes for the queen. Well, he wasn't going to wait around and sulk. As badly as he wished to sire a true clutch for this backwoods Weyr, the bronze would simply have to wait again. Thankfully, he was an experienced hunter, and knew that not ever hunt yielded success. So, he would focus instead on taking another this evening...

If he could not have Kleoth, than let him take another instead.

Veering sharply on wing, the bronze dove towards the competition but his sight was on one in particular. He didn't ask, he didn't need to--it was clear who he was diving after, and if the blue truly was uninterested, he had ample time to get away. Tierboskath! He hissed his warning--reaching out to snatch the blue, and catch him well in his claws.

He had promised to throw someone from the sky this night, and he would make good on it. Tierboskath would fall, but they would fall together.

- - -

Just as Uskatath had found himself some willing prey, so N'sarl was not particularly when it came to bedmates. All he wanted was his arms full of someone--just as his dragon made his own choice. He would follow Phryana where she lead, along with any others who cared to join.

[Permission from Meep to have him snatched.]

The choice was made; Auriath did not burn with disappointment, the revelry of the flight buoying him to levels of ecstasy only flights could grant. Instead, his attention leaked away to the competitors, considering them with half a mind. Baloroth's words lifted him as clouds might, and he crooned in pleasure. You do me a great honour, Baloroth- and I would be glad to match my magnificence with yours. He let Baloroth's form envelope him, triumphant and gleeful. Let's fall and rise together!

Kito's lazy, enchanting grin threatened to split his face apart, as he felt Auriath twine neck and tail with the other bronze. In the hazy Pern-bound vision he had, he noted R'en before him, and took his outstretched hands in his own. "Consider me yours this fine night." He murmured, breathless and euphoric as their dragons might have been. Kito had no reservations, no shyness, and this fine rider certainly appealed to him. He was glad for the company, and eager to get to know R'en a little better a least.
