"Kitchens need some help keeping an eye on dinner - they have a food thief problem and would like to minimize their damage until they find a culprit," which begged the question: Human, Firelizard, or....something else?

"Just don't let anything burn and you should be OK. They'll have better instructions for you."

A mystery. A firelizard could easily blink in and out after snatching some food, but a person could be much more sneaky and subtle... Liniyah hummed to herself, thinking... and then remembered she hadn't been assigned to the kitchens by herself. She gave Fahn an awkward look and a tentative smile. She recognized her, of course--Liniyah tried to make note of all her fellow Candidates.

"Um. Where do you think we should start?"

Fahn had, quite honestly, not even worried about it - having already gotten several steps ahead of Liniyah in her eagerness to get over to the kitchens. She paused mid step, hopping on her back foot as she leaned back to half-turn and look back at her.

"I mean, I'd say we probably want to get to the kitchens and ask them what they'd like us to do, yeah?"

Oh. Oh, right. Liniyah nodded after a moment, following behind in Fahn's footsteps without any show of minding whatsoever. She was happy to fill in wherever she could and--if Fahn's natural energy had anything to say about it--Liniyah would be able to ghost about in the background, assisting as needed.

That was a perfectly lovely thing, in her opinion.

She smiled brightly at Liniyath's answer, folding her hands behind her head. While the other girl didn't seem to have any response to that beyond a nod, Fahn didn't seem to take any offense to it, instead she fell back into her eagerly quick step, easily taking pace several yards ahead of Liniyah on the way to the kitchen.

So it would be Fahn who all but busted in first, nearly startling one of the poor helpers. "We're here! Where do you want us!" she declared, with far less of an inside voice than she should have had, while rubbing her hands together impatiently. She was at least enthusiastic!

One flustered helper would send Fahn over to pick up a knife and start cutting vegetables before she bowled everybody over with her energy.

It would be impossible for anyone to say that Fahn wasn't eager to help! Liniyah watched for a moment, standing there awkwardly until she was nudged over to begin peeling tubers. She could do that, no problem... but...

"Shall we keep an eye out while we work?" She asked, still rather curious about this food thief. Her mind kept wandering even when she received an affirmative, and the girl hummed to herself as she worked on peeling the tubers.

A mystery, a mystery....

"An eye out- Oh!" Fahn had clearly already forgotten, very content in cutting the tubers that Liniyah was peeling. It was the most still she'd held for a while. Something about the repetitive motion of chopping with a knife in hand was extremely soothing. Being busy in a kitchen in general was a good balm to her energy. It felt productive in a way other chores didn't.

"Where do you think we should keep an eye out?" Fahn asked, peering - with zero discretion - around the kitchen. The doors? At bread? At food that was mostly cooked already?

Hmmmm!

She was asking her? Hmm.... Liniyah considered that for a moment, thinking. "Definitely the kitchen entrances... but one of us should watched the cooked food too, just in case." She could see a firelizard zipping in and snatching something...

Her partially peeled tuber nearly slipped out of her hand, and Liniyah had to fumble a bit wildly before she caught it, sighing audibly with relief.

The idea of Fahn keeping focus on much of anything was laughable, but she would at least do her best - which wasn't much in this case. Not when cutting produce almost made her seem domesticated.

She did, however, laugh at Liniyah's athletics with the tuber. "They're slippery! I bet they have a towel..." Fahn trailed off, eyes darting across the kitchen before she set her knife down and was off - returning shortly with a towel she set at Liniyah's workstation. "Wipe your hands off between tubers and they'll be easier to hold."
