Frosted Morning was happy to see her brother bound out into the snowy ground and playfully chased after him. She was excited to see him just as eager to run around as she was. Mother had told her that, even with the spring season here, frost would still be prevalent in the mountains every morning. Watching her brother roll around made her so happy. He sometimes was the grumpy pup of the bunch but she still considered him her favorite. As she watched him come back up from rolling in the snow, she pondered on his question. She hated to choose for fear he would like the game, but she had to take the initiative on this one.
"Um... lets see!" Looking around her eyes kinda settled on the spots she could potentially hide. "How about hide and seek then!"
She could easily hide from her brother with her whited out fur which could make for an interesting game for herself. She knew they had to stay around this area due to the parents' rules, but they also played a lot, so all the hiding spots were kind of known in the area.
She would need to adventure out to find better spots.
Her eyes ventured out further than the surrounding area of the den, thinking of any areas that maybe she had seen with their parents while on a walk that would make for a good spot. Her mind was racing, but she knew she would be a great hider. Morning knew her brother may have a hard time finding her or might be upset if she left the area, but she did not care.
With her eyes settling on her brother in front of her, she asked, "You want to hide first?"

So she chose Hide and Seek. Midnight Frost pondered a bit looking out at his surroundings as his breath danced in a haze from the chilled air. It was good to get those legs stretched for the both of them. Still gazing about the area his mind was wandering to where a potential hiding spot would be a key factor. There were plenty of logs, downed trees, and thick sparse weeded areas with thorny branches. Those were the kind that nettled in your fur poking you in protest of being taken for a ride. Noting especially this certain tragic memory when he had fallen in a nettle patch full of thorns for days. One could say it was like walking around like a pin cushion.
Luckily, Mom was there to aide him out of those horrid things that defied even the winter season growing in mockery.
Listening idly as he sniffed around she wanted him to hide first. Fair enough, he thought to himself. His coat being a dark brown with hints of frost could blend essentially if his eyes were closed.
Cat and Mouse it is well, Hide and Seek as they called it!
Out of the blue she chose him to hide which took him off-key for a moment. Here he was thinking she'd be the mouse hiding under some log yet, now he was the chosen prey. Okay, yeah this was changing the tides a little but he'd be able to find her easy if she opened those peculiar eyes of hers.
Nodding to her decision, "Alright then. Close your eyes and start counting. I'll go find a good place to hide."
His ears swiveling to the sound of a bird flapping its wings in the distance. He had to be clever for her to find him. One with the environment, he thought. Then it dawned on him bounding out to find the perfect spot where he'd go.
As he headed off his voice traveled back to her, "No peeking Sis"!

Frosted yipped as her brother agreed in the great game she had picked. Hushing herself again, she looked back at the den to ensure that her parents had not awakened yet. To her relief, they both seemed to be still sleeping. Thinking for a second to possibly go grab their sister so she could enjoy this game as well, she remembered that she was also a restless one and loved her sleep. With a cheerful look towards her brother, she got into a little playful pose before her brother told her to close her eyes and count.
Playfully bounding up, she turned her back to her brother, silently listening to his steps, listening to the sounds all around her. She was excellent at finding and even better with hiding. She was excited to get this game underway.
"Okay! I will count to thirty. Find a good place!"
She finished her sentence kind of snarky. She was very competitive and could not wait to get this game underway. Playing with her siblings and her family made her feel better about her situation. Sometimes, she felt like she was looked down upon with her different coloring and she knew her parents paid a little more attention to their extraordinary sister, which was okay, but sometimes it was nice to be the center of attention.
With a little sign and a last little listen to the sounds of his paws, she started counting.
"One...two...three."
Upon getting up to there she heard her brother exclaim to her to not cheat and peak. Turning around with opening eyes she shouted back, "I wasn't going to." With a slight grin, seeing which way his nose was pointed, she turned around with eyes tightly shut and restarted her counting.
"One...two...three...four....."
As she started to sway back and forth to her counting, adding a nice little tune with her words.
"Twenty-nine... thirty.. ready or not here I come!"
With a little yip, she bounded towards the brush in search of her brother.

As she finished her counting, she turned around and looked where she had seen him leaving with his muzzle in the air. She would not consider this cheating since he had thirty counts to change directions, but she knew he probably just put his nose down and was looked for a log. She knew, since his coloring was a bit darker than the rest of the family, he would probably hide near something that was in close resemblance to his color. She loved that her brother liked to play with her even though he was competitive, but so was Frosted. She ran forward, scanning with her pink-hued eyes, looking for the blue patches of the grayish-blue and brown.
Her ears shot up listening to anything that would help her. Any rustle of leaves or brush, any crack of a twig being stepped on, or even the slosh of the melting snow on the ground. Her brother was skilled, but Frosted was just as good as him. Running forward, she realized she was even making too much noise for her to even hear her brother making noises.
Where are you brother...
Bounding forward she was checking every cubby she could find. Looking under leafless bushes that had huge roots, which she made a checkmark in her head to hide there since her light fur would hide perfect buried under the snow. If she hid there, she knew her brother would have difficulty finding her. Quickly going back at the task at hand, she started to look at big logs now. They were brown in color to his fur and she had searched other places as well.
You have to be around here..
This time, trying to be sneaky, she looked around a few logs until finally, she noticed some blue-gray patches with white streaks curled up and tucked behind the back of a log.
There you are...
Sneaking up, she tried to make minimal noise as she crouched forward and started to sneak on her belly toward him. This would be the perfect opportunity for her to scare him. When she finally got close enough to him, she pounced out and made contact.
"GOT YA!!"
Finally, she was the one to find her brother in record time.

Midnight heard her coming for she was incredibly noisy. He was annoyed sometimes shoe couldn't be more quiet in situations. Always had to be the one with the last say. No matter, this foolish game would be closed soon, especially if their parents found out the pups had wandered away. Pondering this notion left him wide open, head lifted up while she was "seeking" him out. Last thing he wanted as a lecture on how they shouldn't stray from den. Suddenly, he heard her paws noisily getting closer as they bumped into whatever branches, stones, leaves she could step upon.
Quickly, he tucked his head till he heard her voice as loud as the sun that blinds you in the morning. Groaning he stretched pulling himself out of the log with a scowl. Frosted Morning has somehow found a perfect hiding place leaving him at a loss for non other then bitter words. Shaking from head to toe his motions released the lingering dirt that clinging to his fur. Even if it hadn't fallen completely out the singular pieces could blend seamlessly with him. Far as his sister who stuck out like a sore thumb, she'd be the one to get her rump chewed out.
"Grats", he muttered in sarcasm as his paws stepped out of the rotting log.
Looking around the area he nodded then returned his attention to Frosted, Guess its my turn to seek now. What am I counting to again"?
It wasn't that he didn't know how to play the game, rather he was being testy she had actually beat him at his own game. Thinking for a moment he knew exactly what he should do walking past her. The thought of saying upsetting things could make her break the code of hiding in silence concluding this silly game. As a bird flew over both of them he knew time was elapsing forward leaving them both in danger of being caught out by themselves.
Looking at a nearby tree he decided this was his perfect counting area. Standing up paws upon the bark, eyes clenched tight he cleared is breath not knowing it would be one of the biggest mistakes in his life.
"One, two, three..." he spoke loudly so she could scurry off.
"Four, five, six..." soon this would all be over he smiled to himself, tiny teeth showing. Then he realized that sleeping some more wouldn't be an option till later.

Frosted Morning was too into her game and bouncing around after successfully finding her brother that she did not even notice the hint of sarcasm in his voice. She had actually found her brother in a good enough time to be happy with herself. While she was bounding around, she heard her brother ask a question about what he should count too. With a light chuckle to herself, she almost thought about giving him an outrageous number but she did not want to be hiding forever, that would get boring, and Frosted would probably give herself away at that point.
"Just thirty."
As she watched him bound away towards where she had come from, she decided to let herself look around for a second since she had not heard him start counting yet. The only problem being in the snow is that pawprints were littered everywhere. I got it! With boundless energy, Frosted started to chase her tail so that her pawprints were in tight circles, almost impossible to see where she was going, at least, she thought so. Getting lost in her own little game, she was only awoken from her spinning by the sound of her brother counting.
"I need to hurry."
In a hushed tone, she reminded herself what game she was playing again and ran off to the north of where her brother had been hiding. Unaware, she was actually running further from the den but at this point, she had no care in the world but to just hide away from her brother.
Coming across a pretty large barren bush, she figured this would be a great place to hide. There was just enough room and just enough of a snow pile that she could push underneath and wiggle her little body underneath the brush. With her lighter fur, she could easily hide where the snow would camouflage her. Thinking this was a perfect spot to hide away from her brother, she started to camp out, feeling quite restless in her spot.
Unable to even hear her brother count anymore, she just laid there, underneath the bush, waiting until her brother crossed her path.
