The poison was a success, her brother a genius!
...And Viper the sacrifice.
This one had taken her a while to recover from, at least relative to all the other experiments. It also had some of the most disorienting symptoms yet, which she would relay in detail. A whole day and a half of bleeding, which medicinal herbs, an abundance of water (nearly to the point of toxicity), and fasting seemed to remedy. Then, another six hours to empty the system out completely – like, of everything. She healed completely the very next day, with no lingering symptoms to note... She was free, and ready for more.
Moving carefully from sick den to pack heart, skirting the very center where activity often pooled, Viper's aim was on her family den. She rarely enjoyed socialization on a good day, preferring to schmooze with her brother, mother, and father, when he chose to visit, but she was particularly resistant to small talk right after an episode. It left her prickly, and rightly so. So, it behooved her to avoid the Crows at their busiest, where they seemed busiest...
But today, of all days, the pack was livelier than usual. Even for an assassin, evading the watchful eyes of her kin would be made difficult by all the commotion. When one path led her to a group blocking the way, she’d turn quickly onto another, only to find that path occupied as well. She would push through bushes to distance herself from the noise, backtracking to avoid her name being called, eventually having to run out to the fringes of the territory and walk the long way home.
She was certain she'd be in the clear from there. No one would be out this early in the morning... not when they were all in there, squawking at each other.

Being around his packmates created mixed feelings in the cream and black wolf. He enjoyed having others around that weren't full of piercing purple eyes, or trying to control him. But then they reminded him of that part of him that was missing. This would send him in to a spiral of emotions he wasn't ready to deal with, making him a little more waspish than he usually was.
So, he tended to stick to himself. Avoiding the crowds as much as possible.
And especially avoided Dead Reckoning.
He wasn't sure what to feel about his sister. He loved her dearly, wanted to keep protecting her, but then his lips would curl up at the thoughts of him ever calling her a queen. And his assumption (most likely her suggestion) that she would be placed above all the others eventually. No. He did not believe that! Not anymore. If his sister wanted to be a queen, she had to earn it.
But he did want to support this. Or at least part of it. He wanted to see her succeed. To become all that she was meant to be. Wether that was a queen or something else, he wasn't sure of.
And yet... were these his thoughts? Deadlight didn't know anymore. He didn't feel safe with his own mind. And when he began to question too many things, he grew restless.
Which lead him to his usual patrol of the outlying boundries of their territory. The areas that he was least likely to run in to another. And if he did, it would only be one or two packmates at most. Something that was manageable.
Deadlight trotted along the border, his mind starting to swirl again. Was he right to want to protect Dead Reckoning? To still love her? Support her endeavers? Wait on her paw and paw?
Mind in such a swirl of chaos, Deadlight almost ran full on into another who was out here for her own reasons. Startled by the sudden appearance of a wolf, Deadlight jumped back, ears flat and tail raised, a soft growl starting... until he recognized the shewolf.
"Viper. Forgive me. I was not watching where I walk." He murmured, ducking his head a little shamefully.
