Pack Application Fee is now 5k pure. This will get you your Packlands!

Packs are a way for fellow players to interact and engage with one another. They can be the focus of plots and role plays, or simply a form of social status for the wolves. We highly encourage pack-building!

The wolves of Kells have no universal set of traditions for how they live or with whom they form packs, so there is a great deal of leeway for how a pack could be put together. Typically, however, there is an Alpha who leads a group consisting of any number of other wolves. Sometimes a pack consists solely of family; but more often, it consists of both related and unrelated wolves, bound together by like-mindedness, birth, or some other cause.

Packs can be very beneficial. Players who form Packs will have more role playing opportunities, and Wolves in Packs get more chances for RP perks.

Packs are meant for Role-playing! If you do not foresee your characters participating in many RPs then you should not form a Pack.

Creating a Pack should not be taken lightly. It does require some work, but it is NOT all the responsibility of the Alpha. A group effort is much easier for all involved! Packs need to be created with individuals who are willing to work to sustain them; failure to keep a Pack moving will result in loss of breeding perks and eventual disbanding.

exclaim As of 10/31/2019
    • Pack rules have been reworked in order to reduce clutter as well as encourage existing official Packs to maintain what they already have established.
    • There is an absolute limit of 20 packs that may exist at one time.
    • Additionally, each hold within Kells can only sustain 5 packs. The holds of Kells are as follows: The Bluestone, The Redwoods, The River Run, and The Forest.
    • The upkeep for owning and sustaining a Pack will be moderated more regularly moving forward.
    • Players are encouraged to continue creating Pack I/T’s, but there is no guarantee of it becoming official unless there is capacity or another Pack is disbanded.

Pack creation
    • To be considered for acceptance/subforum creation, a completed pack application must be submitted to the shop mule. Pack applications must contain the following:
    • A staff-approved name for your pack. Pack names follow the same naming rules as the wolves (i.e ‘Whiterun’ or ‘Inferno’, nothing offensive).
    • A brief history or plot/story for your pack. This can include how the Pack came to be, or how the Alpha came to form it.
    • 6 prospective members - this must include 1 assigned alpha and 5 followers.
    • They may all be owned by the same person, and must be existing wolves.
    • 1 completed RPs between the chosen alpha and any of the 5 followers, establishing intent to form the pack.
    • A base fee of 5k platinum for the alpha lineart conversion, to be sent to the shop mule. You may request some changes to your wolf, like scars or new items/edits, but please note that this may cause the conversion fee to go up.
    • Please note that the staff has final say on everything regarding Packs. If you are asked to change something, don't feel discouraged! We are here to work with you!

Reassigning Alphas
    • In the event that an established pack receives a new Alpha, you may choose to apply for new Alpha lineart. To convert your chosen character to the alpha lineart, you will need:
    • An existing character that is assigned Alpha.
    • 1 new completed RPs between the chosen Alpha and any existing pack members.
    • A base fee of 5k platinum, to be sent to the shop mule. You may request some changes to your wolf, like scars or new items/edits, but please note that this may cause the conversion fee to go up.
    • There is a cool-down of 6 months between alpha changes. If you are in the cool-down you can not change your alpha character, even if it’s for rp reasons.

About Alphas in Kells (IC)
    • All alphas in Kells are male.
    • There can only be 1 alpha at a time.
    • Alphas demand respect and are often the largest wolf in their pack.
    • Alphas and other pack leaders will be held responsible for their IC actions of their pack members.
    • To an Alpha, being responsible for the disbandment of their pack would be among the most shameful of events.

Pack upkeep and activity
    • As a pack owner, you will be responsible for maintaining your packlands, including:
    • Management of pack members, including recruitment and dismissal
    • Hosting of pack events, to include RP events and contests/giveaways, and resolution of pack-related issues.
    • Ensuring the activity requirements are met.
    • To be considered active, your pack subforum must have at least 4 completed RPs per 2 months.

Pack disbandment
    • If the activity requirements are not met, at the pack owner’s request, or if the shop staff deems appropriate, your pack will be disbanded.
    • At the end of 2 months, if the activity requirements are not met the pack owner will receive an activity warning.
    • At the end of 3 months, if the activity requirements are still unmet, the pack owner will receive a disbandment notice and will be given 1 week grace period to contest and submit for a reclaim.
    • To reclaim, you must submit 1 completed RP (1k word count) of your Alpha regaining his rule/packlands to the shop mule before the end of the 1 week grace period. The RP can take place within your packlands, and must include at least 2 other pack members.
    • If you’ve reclaimed your packlands, you will be on a 4 month cool-down to reclaim them again. That means during this time you can not lose ownership of your lands, or you will not be able to contest their disband status.
    • If you choose not to contest or miss the reclaiming deadline/requirements, your packlands will be forfeited and will become available for someone else to claim.
    • During disband downtime your pack will not receive breeding perks.
    • The subforum will be renamed and any threads in it will be archived.

Pack Q&A
Q: Can I own more than one Pack at a time?
A: No, you are only allowed to own one Pack at a time. Due to the limited amount of slots available, this is the fairest option.

Q: Can I trade my current Pack if I come up with a new idea that I like more?
A: No, if you want to disband your Pack you may, but you will not be able to keep that slot for another idea, you will have to try for new Packlands like everyone else.

Q: Can my female wolf be an Alpha?
A: Females can not officially be Alphas in Kells, however, it’s not uncommon for a female to play shadow Alpha in their Pack, ruling beside or just under their Alpha.

Q: Can my Pack have slaves?
A: While we want to allow people complete freedom when creating Packs, forced slavery is frowned upon. You can not force another player into a pack, this must be done with agreement on both parties' sides.

Q: Can Pack owner’s deny a Pack member for OoC reasons?
A: This is a tough one. While we can not force you to play with someone you do not like, we would like it if any drama you might have with someone else is kept private and away from your responsibilities as a Pack owner. So yes, in short, you can. We would just prefer personal drama stay clear from Kells related RP.

Q: If a Pack is disbanded in one location, does a new Pack take over that location, or can it move to another land? (ie: Pack disbands in Bluestone, does the new pack need to be in Bluestone).
A: The new Pack Leader can choose to stay in the open Packlands or find themselves another place to settle, if there is room in that hold!

Q: Can Solo Roleplays be used to meet the Pack Activity quota?
A: Yes, SRPs (Solo Roleplays) will count towards meeting Pack Activity quotas. A completed SRP must have at least 1000 words, and must be held within the Pack Lands.
