[Pack I/T] The New Sun (WIP)

Welcome to The New Sun

You have been traveling, it could be for a short amount of time or for years, but it is almost always because you are unsure. There are so many things in life that have changed, stayed the same, or have made you question, and you have run from it: either to be able to get away, to figure out your place, maybe you took a mate nobody approved of, or you needed to find yourself, or a pack who would finally let you be who you are.

On this journey: you have lost your way. It could be literally, you don’t recognize the area around you shrouded in mist, or it could be mentally, you’ve thought too much and now the lines are more blurred than before. You don’t know what’s right or what’s wrong, what’s you and what’s what they want you to be. It’s scary to be alone like this, stuck in your head with nowhere to go.

Someone might catch your eye, or walk straight up to you, they seem kind and give off a generous aura. The tell you head for the middle of the regions, where earth, water, and plant meet. There you’ll find safety, there you will find a home. You listen, you have nowhere else to go, and you certainly can’t go back. You begin your walk again, but this time with a purpose.

You will eventually stop at the foot of the mountain, where there is almost a hard line between the greenery, river, and the rocks. You look up and there is a wolf standing above you situated on the tallest point to be seen from the grass and the cave entrance behind him. This is where you find the Sun.

He looks odd, his features so elegant and thin, almost appearing as if he could be broken if he hopped off his spot. They make his broader chest look like it shouldn’t be like that, makes it look like the lean muscle on his body is so much more than it actually is. You don’t know what to think, at this point your not sure if you even want to.

He hops down from his pedestal with grace such odd proportions shouldn’t be able to move with, smiling as he meets you he speaks in a voice so warm, filled with so much love and concern that you almost want to buckle, “Welcome to our home, it could be yours if you like.”

Welcome to The New Sun! This is a pack made for the misfits and outcasts: a place for them to belong. Did your family think you have a cursed mark and that you’re a bad omen and kick you out? Did you choose an outsider for mate and for some reason got banned from your previous pack? Did you somehow betray your first pack and think you deserve a second chance because you want to turn your ways around? Or maybe a horrible accident happened and the pack is now gone and you have nowhere else to turn to? Then this is the pack for you!

This pack is about erasing what the outside world knows you as and finding your worth within yourself. The New Sun is where a wolf comes to find a new home and a life full of love and hope. Made by a fellow misfit and lead to be as inclusive as possible, this pack is a fresh start.

The New Beginning

[REDACTED] could not stop his search for a safe home, he felt panicked about it: He had dragged his loved one out into uncharted territory so they could find a home instead of finding a place beforehand. She was the one who had followed him, so sure and supportive of him that she trusted his rash decision to leave, but she was the only one who had experience outside of the territory they used to live. He felt guilty taking her away and for that he must find her a place to stay warm and safe; The quicker: the better. He just didn’t realize he was getting frantic in his search, forgetting to take care of himself along the way.

He searched until he could no longer feel his feet, only resting when [REDACTED 2] needed to or told him to. He lost sleep looking for a home for them, so concerned about their safety and well being. Eventually, he was on the verge of collapsing when he had found an area of trees near the base of a mountain. They ventured in looking for a place to stay so he could settle his exhaustion and found a cave at the center of the elements, or something like it: it was half domed, like the mountain had wanted to form a cave and just didn’t have the energy to complete it. It was there they took shelter and tended to their worn out paws and exhaustion in the cover of night.

In the morning, the light brought what seemed like magic to the area: mist covered the land and the sounds of life that surrounded them were plenty. They searched for the mist resource and found a waterfall coming from the mountain, and behind that a narrow walkway. [REDACTED] went in first, not wanting [REDACTED 2] to face anything from the darkness upfront and alone. Eventually, it became so dark that nothing could be seen, and the darkness was so deafening that he could no longer hear his own steps. The only thing that could he could hear were his own thoughts and feelings.

He sat in this darkness, something telling him to not take another step, and finally found a space that he could hear his thoughts clearly: a conversation with himself he had been searching for since he was young was finally an option. He could never tell how long it had taken him, it could have been hours or it could have been days: [REDACTED 2] had checked on him once out of concern, and he does not know what she had said to him and he does not know what he had said in reply. He only felt the vibrations from his own chest to know it happened at all.

When his thoughts began to wind down, he could finally begin see. There was a blue glowing pattern covering the surface of the cave ceiling and walls: so bright it was practically glowing. The pattern swooped and curled never seeming to end or start at any determined spot, however, as his eyes became less clouded and has he met reality once again it landed on a shape in what he had found similar to a sun.

As he looked down to find himself at the edge of a deep pool and met his own eyes in his reflection, with the sun above his head, the final words of his silent conversation became clear:

You can do this.
You are strong enough.
You are all that you will need.
This is your home.
Do it.

The New Sun

The New Sun is the main pack, this is lead by [REDACTED] who is the Alpha/Sun. The New Sun is meant to be as inclusive as possible and for the wolves who have no other place to go. They have a positive outlook on life and believe that creatures are inherently good. It’s supposed to be a safe place for anyone to take a stop on their journeys and rest. They can continue on their way to wherever they're going, or decide to stay. These are the good entities of the pack, the ones who believe in “Justice for All.”

The Shaded Moons

The Shaded Moons are a small underground organization lead by [REDACTED 3], who is in opposition to the Alphas views. Where The Sun sees hope, happiness, and safety, The Shaded Moons see devastation, agony, and distress. These are the pessimists of the pack, the ones who never saw a bright clear future in the Ritual of Silence, and the ones who are looking out for themselves. They can be seen as the neutral entities of the pack, they believe in “Justice for Me.”

Some of these wolves are in a state that even themselves aren’t meant to be treated nicely. These wolves see the world in a chaotic light, and only want to see the world burn. These guys spread rumors and allow dangerous outsiders in, causing a ruckus and distress that can lead to Family Trials. These wolves can be seen as the evil entities of the pack, they believe in “Justice for No One.”

Location and Landmarks

Local Landmarks

The Tunnels - Once a location Humans humans used for mining, there are a series of tunnels that over time had begun to bring itself back to its natural state. There are many alcoves where veins of ore used to be and rooms that no longer have any type of door that are used for the homes of the Family's wolves. The entrances to the access tunnels all meet at the center of the rocky alcove before the Alphas pedestal.

Birthing Dens - Deeper into the mine tunnels there is a more secluded area for expecting mothers can have their pups. The way even deeper into the mines is blocked off here by what seemed to have been a cave in at one point, but has completely settled and is safe to be around. There’s no chance of wondering puppies getting lost or hurt by wandering into the deeper mining tunnels, the only exit is towards the alcove entrance. There are holes in the walls, from removed ore that can be occupied by the expecting family.

The Waterfall - A big waterfall from the side of the mountain. The immediate area around it tends to be a place for gatherings for private families during the days and celebrations by night. The rushing water of the surface hides the entrance to the cave behind it ,guarded by trustworthy pack members, that contains the Pitch Black.

The Shrine - A carved stone monument with the carvings of the sun, moon, and stars along with various plant life all over it. Vines have grown up around it and have caused some cracks to surface. It looks as if incense would have been used with it at some point, burning ends entering the bottom through hollowed out spaces and the smoke escaping from a hole in the top. Though the wolves don’t know anything about that, those who live by nature and worship it may use this area to practice their beliefs freely.

The Pedestal - What may be the remains of some type of stone tower, it’s centered in the area in front of the tunnels where the rocks meet the trees. This is the center of the main living area and where Alpha will make announcements and give speeches. Alpha will always be facing where the sun will shine upon his face when he talks, so the time of day determines where the gathering will be facing.

The Pitch Black - The Pitch Black is a tangible darkness that every wolf must enter at some point in their life. It’s contained in the cave behind the waterfall, and this is where the Ritual of Silence takes place. There is a small pond coming from a separate water source here from further underground, due to the amount of importance the Pitch Black holds, wolves are not allowed to drink from this water.
(Note: wolves can experience “visions” while in the Pitch Black. I want to make it clear that this is not in the same sense as a seer would see visions. There are cracks in the cave flooring that allow steam to come out from an underground hot spring, and unfortunately it has natural hallucinogens in it.)

Cultures and Traditions

Culture

This pack was formed from someone who was outcasted due to his heritage and because of that they are lenient on most things! It’s a group of wolves coming together to form the family and home they always wanted. The culture is intended to be very rich, there’s wolves from all over coming here to make a home, that being said if you have any suggestions, just let me know!

Hospitable - The pack is encouraged to be kind, and to help one another. This leads to if somebody is passing through you treat them the same.

Accepting - Everyone is welcome under The New Sun. If there is a problem it is to be addressed immediately and handled without violence.

Celebratory - Life has been difficult for most wolves in this pack, therefore even the little things get celebrated to bring joy to everyone around. No celebration is mandatory, nobody is forced to interact when they don’t wish to.

Religious - Religion is free here, you are not required to be religious but it is not frowned upon either. All that is asked is that you respect your home and respect the creatures that surround you. If you take a life none of the creature should go to waste, everything can and will be used.

Justice - Though the hearts are encouraged to be soft, you should also stand by your packs values and beliefs. Fight for the justice of those who never had a chance, and fight for those who need safety in places they should be able to call home. Always be prepared to cut someone off if need be, you need no one else other than the family and justice deserves to be brought.

Sexuality - All sexualities are welcomed.

Mating - You can be monogamous, or polyamorous both are welcomed. You are also welcomed to be asexual/aromantic. Generally anything goes, but incest and underage relationships are not allowed.

There’s only a select few reasons for the wolves to be disowned. If you meet these requirements Alpha has decided that you do not uphold the packs best interest and are too much of a liability for the overall happiness of the members. It could also mean you have betrayed the family. (Note: Your wolf can actually defend themselves! If your wolf is to be disowned you can take them to a family trial, this functions like a defense trial. Please look under traditions for more info!)

Conflicting Views - You are allowed to have your own opinions on things, however, Alphas word is law. If you have brought so much attention to yourself over a problem, to a point that it needs to be addressed by Alpha himself, and then continue to persist even though he has ruled against you: you threaten the happiness of the pack and will be disowned by the family.

Betrayal - If you have deliberately joined to cause harm and are found, or if you allowed for somebody to enter and stay knowing they were going to cause harm: you will be disowned by the family.

Traditions

Though the pack is very new, somethings were established upon the formation. If there are any suggestions for traditions, please don’t be afraid to send them my way!

Ritual of Silence - The Ritual of Silence is a trial every wolf must undergo at some point in the pack. For new members it is the first thing you do to become part of the family and find yourself, for puppies born into the pack it’s a coming of age ceremony (with a party at the end if wanted).

New Moon Celebrations - The celebrations of litters! Whenever a new litter comes of an age where it is safe for them to step outside the birthing dens and meet the family there’s a celebration. Of course the mother may request for it to not be done, or to postpone it for any reason or none at all.

Family Trial - A defense trial an accused wolf may ask for if they feel like they have been wrongly accused (or otherwise) and does not wish to be disowned.

Solar Eclipse - A time of mourning. When a death has happened in the family needs of the Sun/Apha, becomes secondary to the Moon/pack. He is there with the other stars/guides to help support and mourn along with the family.

Lunar Eclipse - A time where the needs of the Sun/Alpha come before the Moon/Pack. Usually means a change in Alpha, a Family Trial, or a pack emergency.

Family Trials: It is held as an ORPP where wolves can come to defend the accused or prosecute them. With all evidence shown Alpha will make a decision on whether or not the accused may stay within the family. Each wolf interested in joining the ORPP will be using their stats (received upon entry to the pack, based off of Dungeons and Dragons 5e) to convince the Alpha for or against the accused.

Ranks and Jobs

Ranks

Ranks are not earned under The New Sun, they are given when certain ages and requirements are met. It is a helpful way to know how much experience one has, and who would be more likely to be helpful in what situations.

The Sun - Alpha

Stars - This is reserved for seers, the Alphas close group of advisers, and the deceased.

Waning Moon - This rank is reserved for older wolves who have entered retirement.

Full Moon - Adult wolves who have gone through the Trial of Silence. At this point they should have chosen a job within the pack, and are now helping the Family flourish.

Waxing Moon - This rank is reserved for newly grown pups that have not gone through the Ritual of Silence for any reason.

New Moon - This rank is reserved for pups.

(Secret) Blue Moon - Potential member of The Shaded Moons.

(Secret) Harvest Moon - Full member of The Shaded Moons.

(Secret) Blood Moon - Leader of The Shaded Moons.

Jobs

Guides - Usually older wolves who are willing to answer questions and give advice. Seers also are primarily given this job, though they are welcomed to take on others if they wish.

Caretakers - Wolves who wish to primarily help in the care of the Family's New Moons.

Guardians - Wolves who are in charge of the Protectors and Providers, they work closely with the Stars.

Protectors - There are two branches to the Protectors: The Family's Soldiers and Livelihood Guards.

Family Soldiers - Wolves tasked with the physical protection of the pack and territory.

Livelihood Guards - Wolves tasked for medicinal jobs, and keeping the Family healthy.

Providers - There are three branches to the Providers: Gatherers, Hunters, and Scouts.

Gatherers - Wolves tasked with gathering various supplies for the Family.

Hunters - Wolves tasked to provide food. REMEMBER: Nothing is wasted or left behind, however only bring back what you hunt yourself. If something is found please give it a proper burial.

Scouts - Tasked with the important job of exploring the territory, and providing new recruits and knowledge.

Joining and The Ritual of Silence

Joining

If you wish to join The New Sun, all you have to do is write your trial and fill out an application! Once you’re application has been accepted, I will contact you about getting your wolf assigned stats since a lot of the games we will be playing with have Dungeons and Dragons like mechanics from 5e and guidance may be needed for help. The Ritual of Silence is required for every wolf in the pack, if you are having your wolf join as a puppy it comes later, and this is where you will report that you have it done!

If you do not have a cert but want to join before it comes please just let me know your waiting! Also when I say traits I want you to list out some of the most important aspects of your wolf's personality, you may also write a short description if you like!

The Ritual of Silence

The Ritual of Silence is something every wolf must go through at some point to be one of The Family: for outsiders it’s how you join, and for puppies it’s a coming of age ritual. This is the only thing your wolf is ever made to do completely alone.

Your wolf will be escorted to the waterfall: by the Alpha himself, a seer, or one of the Stars of the pack. They are then lead to the entrance of the cave behind the rushing water where they will begin their descent into the Pitch Black. With each step your wolf takes their eyesight will get weaker, they will fill the air around them as humid and warm, and eventually it becomes so dark you feel as if you cannot feel or hear the area around you. Your wolf will experience the sensation of floating and be trapped in their mind for anywhere for a couple of hours to days. When the wolf comes out of their trance they will open their eyes to the blue glowing swirls before them and see an image to help them solidify their choice of where they belong under The New Sun.

There are two options on how this can be performed!

First option is a SRP, this means you have complete control of your wolf’s outcome. You can use other’s SRPs or [REDACTED]’s experience back in the history section as a reference, or you are welcome to ask me questions on gaia or discord!

The second option is that you can have a guided role-play, or GRP, experience. In this option I will function as a DM and play as your wolf’s subconscious that they are conversing with, or describe what images they see! Everything will be discussed before hand, and 100% planned out to your liking but with enough surprise so it’s an enjoyable experience for everyone involved!
