Picking her way along a rocky riverbed, Ala Paʻakikī crouched down to drink, her bangs almost brushing the surface of the water. The sun was overhead, and it was hot - hot enough to have her making a face before she got back to her feet and moved into the shade of a nearby tree. Looking up into the branches, she spotted...was that the remains of a gazelle? Lifting her muzzle to sniff the air, she smiled. It was a leopard's cache, and she wasn't averse to saving herself the effort of hunting down her own game in this heat.

Reaching up with her forepaws, she drew herself up into the tree branches, climbing slowly toward the free meal, cautious in case her...provider remained close. Stopping on a wide branch near the base, attention still fixed on her goal, she blew her bangs out of her eyes, a hint of impatience causing her to wrinkle her nose slightly. She'd long since gotten used to seeing through the heavy bangs, but they could definitely be an impediment when she was doing something like hunting for the best toeholds when climbing.
