User ImageThe sun was just rising, and as it did, it stirred the dark blue leopard awake. He realized that it was now morning, and that there were a number of things that his body wanted to do, such as getting up to relieve himself and yawning along with stretching out, and so he decided to do the latter actions first, and then the relief. Still though, it was time to wake up, and it had been another great night where he, Negus the handsome leopard, had been able to get dinner just for himself and not have to worry about any others.

It was a bit weird, there didn't seem to be many that roamed around here, and a few times he thought he might have the area to himself and well, he deserved it didn't he? Perhaps all of the others who may have been considered threats just respected him so much, that he got his own hunting area where he could eat, sleep, drink, and do whatever else to his heart's content.

And for right now that meant going to the watering hole near his tree and taking a drink. Still, he was always on the alert, waiting to see if there were any possible hunters out and about that would make the mistake of hunting him. And of course if there was any prey that would be an easy catch. He didn't have to catch something every day, but it was nice to just be able to snack on something when he wanted to.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Broach didn't like mornings in the best of times, now was not one of those times. He was awake anyway so he got up and looked around he would need to do something until night fell once again and he would be more comfortable. He would do what he needed to do to get ready for the day. Then he would go and do whatever he planned to do to get the day behind him. Bronach had never had much trouble taking down a kill of his own and pulling it into a tree for his enjoyment. He considered hunting today, but would most likely wait till night fell.

Broach fear no one, not even the lions. He had a high level of confidence in himself that was not easy to shake. He would not take any threat to himself laying down. He heading for the watering hole mostly staying to whatever shadows he could find since he did not care for the sun much. He saw the other leopard there at the watering hole and figured he would just ignore the other male since he didn't consider the other male a threat to him. He kept his eyes on the other male just in case he was mistaken He doubted he would be mistaken considering who he was after all. As if he would be taken down by another male.

Negus had thought he had heard something large approaching. Not as big as an elephant, though wouldn't that be a meal! He wouldn't have been able to bring it to his tree though. That was the conundrum when wanting to take down such a large beast and yet not having the ability to keep it to himself and protect it easily.

It was only when the other leopard appeared that Negus realized that was what he had heard. He watched the other closely, and in turn, the other leopard watched him. It wasn't unexpected. They were both male leopards who were now within a close distance to each other. And he supposed that the both of them were hoping to avoid a fight. Negus was. He didn't like fighting all that much. Taking down prey, sure. That was exhilarating. But just to fight another to claim territory or a kill? Not so much fun.

Still, he had to be cautious, and once he was finished drinking, wondered which would be the best way to get back to his tree. Should he do a full turn-around and let his back be towards the other? Or should he move backwards, and then leave himself vulnerable to others who might be around?

Decisions, decisions! Negus sighed. Why couldn't anything be easy. Perhaps he should just join an ambush or something.

Bronach looked across at the other male, he did not waste his time-fighting battles he strongly believed he would win without hardly trying. His self-belief in himself was nothing that could be ignored by anyone who had actually spoken to him. It was easy to see that he was painfully arrogant. He would not be making the first move but he would defend himself if he saw the need. He would not lay down and let the other male make a fool of him. He quietly watched the other male to see what he would do. He didn't care much what he would do but he figured the other male would make his choice sooner or later.

Negus had just figured out that perhaps the best way to get away from this other leopard was to walk away from a side angle, when suddenly he heard something else. Something that sounded like... prey.

He moved to hide in the darker grass near the watering hole, trying to conceal himself and not caring a bit if the other leopard was still here. He would get whatever it was that had decided to risk it's life by coming to the watering hole.

In just a few seconds, a thirsty-looking zebra came and dipped it's head down into the water. If it did, either it hadn't seen the other leopard, or the other had hidden itself. Either way, Negus was ready to leap out and attack. He just had to get a bit closer to it...

Bronah watched the male's movements his exit looked rather strange he was a little confused as to what they thought they were doing. Perhaps they were new to the area and didn't know a show of strength when it whacked them in the face. He watched the other male size up his prey. Which was fine with him, he did not want to hunt during the heat of the day when he could save his energy and hunt at night when the land was cooler. So he continued to watch the other male make his choice if he wanted to try to kill the zebra or not.

Negus crept slowly towards it, making sure to get slightly behind it too in case it decided that it wanted to turn around. Closer... closer... and finally he was within a few meters of the zebra. And he took his chance and leapt! The zebra didn't realize what had grabbed it until it was too late! It was only a few more moments before the zebra was deceased.

Negus, happy with his kill, started to drag it back towards his tree, and took another look at the other leopard. It was still there, and seemed to have been watching him. Negus set his kill down and stared at the other, waiting for any movement that would indicate if the darker leopard wanted to try something.

Bronah watched the other male take down the zebra he had far to much pride and arrogance to desire to steal the kill away from the other male. He would get his own kill when night fell. There was no issue with this situation. Everything would be fine, they would go their separate ways. There was no need to get his claws bloody for no reason. He considered himself better than that. He had no need to steal a kill from another male when he could take care of himself, in the manner he wanted. He watched the other male drag his kill off. He still thought it foolish to still waste so much energy in the heat.

The other leopard never moved. Negus relaxed just a bit, though he still knew to be cautious still. But he was able to grab his kill again and drag it back to his tree, putting it on the ground as he took another look around "his" territory. He had met another today, and he hadn't liked it, but there seemed to be no conflict as of yet. There was plenty of food to go around and a watering hole nearby. He had no reason to fight others. It was others that he had to be worried about fighting him!

Still, perhaps if the two stayed within the same area, they might get along. As long as they didn't bother each other at all. Negus wouldn't go picking fights on purpose. It wasn't as though there was a lack of food. And he had no reason to fight the other anyway.

And so he would spend the rest of the day, up in his tree with his kill, munching on it all the while looking around to see if there was anything else going on.

Bronah made his way away from the watering hole the interaction if you could call it that had come and gone and it would not be hard on his life since the other male was nothing for him to worry about. They did not need to say anything to each other. They were not friends and clearly, he would not be seeking the other male out again. They had not fought each other and that was fine. It was not necessary. He was going to go back to the shadows to rest till the sunset and he could hunt in peace.
