The small, dark pup crouched hidden in the brambles, bright eyes squinting at the gaggle of Monster puppies she was now expected to call 'sibling'. The bramble thorns didn't bother her much- Mother'd taught her how to hide safely, after all- just mild discomforting pricks as she shifted in her crouch, tiny legs cramping from hiding in the same position for... Most of the morning, really.
The Monster pups had forgotten about trying to egg her out into their beastly wrestling, but she was a clever fawn- she would not let her guard down so easily, not in the Monster's den!
A resolve that grew only weaker as the day grew older- a seemed eternity for the pup, though it could hardly have been long before unknown paws stepped in front of her hiding place, and Will o' the Wisp's reaction was almost instinctive, crawling out from her hiding place to bound after the stranger's feet without so much as pausing to shake the burrs and leaves from her fur.
The dark lady was scary, but no less scary than the thought of being left to the whims of the Monster puppies- the thought inspiring a whine, white-tipped ears plastering flat against her head as she picked up the pace- if she could squeeze herself into a place padding between the stranger-Monster's legs, well then, that she would most certainly do.

This one walked differently than the other monsters- they all had a way about them, of moving, that set the young, confused pup on edge- Mother had taught her well, very well. And while most moved in the most predatory fashion, this one.... This one moved much the same, but in a different manner. As if there were clouds under her paws, and why that seemed less threatening than otherwise, Wisp may never discover.
But set her more at ease, it did, even as she peered up at the towering Monster. "Oh," the pup breathed, swallowing the lump that quickly formed in her throat, "Hullo, Monster-Doe," she answered softly- cautiously, peering down at her paws shuffling in the dirt as though she hadn't expected the she-wolf to notice or acknowledge her- at the very least, not in a positive manner, and the pup was left with.... a measure confusion on what to do.
Mother would have instructed her to run and hide back in the brambles- but Mother wasn't there, and that seemed like a remarkably bad choice. What ran, Monsters chased. "I'm, hmmm.... Will o' the Wisp," she eventually mustered the courage to mutter back sheepishly- best to answer and take cues from there, right?
As long as the Monster wasn't about to eat her. it'd be fine, right?
