[PRP] A New Face (Clay Fox & Bright Talon)

The yawn was almost jaw-cracking in it's intensity. Normally Bright Talon was a morning person, awake long before the sun ever was, but she had stayed up fairly late last night and was now paying the price. She had to say - she didn't like it. The grogginess made her eyes fuzzy, her head felt like a cloud, and she almost wanted to go back to sleep despite knowing she'd had more than enough.

With a shake of her head, she tried to focus on her surroundings. The mountain was an area she hadn't explored yet, but already she was in love with how tall it was. She wondered if she could feel the wind blasting against her if she managed to get even higher than where she was. Maybe she could even pretend she was flying.

Of course, as someone who had never really interacted with a wolf pack before, she had no idea she'd stumbled onto their land.

Clay Fox grumbled as he was pushed out of the den, 'told to go hunt'. Whyyyy? All he wanted to do was sleep. The weather was just perfect for napping. Not hunting. Curse this being grown thing. He missed the days where he could literally stay inside all day or just play. (Even to his dismay of wanting to always wander around.)

Clay trotted from the den. Soon, he mused, Two Tone would need to find someplace bigger. Their pack had almost tripled in size this season. New faces seemed to be popping up. And yet, here Clay was, still being pushed to do his pack duties to hunt.

Bah, why wasn't anyone helping him? He was still young! He needed help to bring down a kill! (Or you know, let the other do the brunt of the work.)

The scent of another crossed his nostrils as he snorted. That was no deer. What? His head tilted as he headed towards the area the shewolf was in, stopping just short to spot her bright color. Her pelt reminded him of Ocean's a bit. Lighter. And what kind of dye marked her? It was different than his!

"What, did Two Tone bring you here too?" Clay called out from afar, head tilting as he watched the other.

Tired or not, the sudden, unexpected noise of someone speaking to her would have made her jump regardless, and indeed, Bright Talon felt her heart leap into her throat at the sound of someone talking. The less chirpy tones of another wolf always left her nervous. She much preferred a bird's sharp, high-pitched tones.

Whipping her head around, she stared with wide eyes at the young male who'd spoken. "Wha- who?" Because that was the first thing that she'd thought of to say. Two Tone? Was that another wolf?

She took an uncertain step to the side, before pulling herself up to try and make herself seem a little more like she knew what she was doing. "I-I mean, no. No, I, uh, just felt like... coming here."

What a skittish thing she was, wasn't she? Two Tone sure knew how to pick them, didn't he.

He quirked an eyebrow as she seemed to stumble over his words. "Two Tone? The Alpha?" Her uncertainty caused him to move from his relaxed stance, moving towards the she wolf.

"Why?" Clay pressed. "More wolves here mean more mouths to feed. More work, you know?" Though, more wolves meant less work for him right? Win? "I mean. You know you are within a pack's territory and that doesn't seem to faze you?" The young adult snorted slightly, sitting on the ground as his tail curled around his paws. "Weird." He shrugged his shoulders.

"I'm Clay Fox, though most just call me Clay. These lands belong to Two Tone's pack. But he's a pushover, so you don't have to worry about him appearing or anything." Another shrug as the male finally glanced at her dye markings. "Where did you find those colors?" North only managed to find a blue plant to help mark Clay's body (much to the disapproval of Two Tone). He was curious if he could find some reds and yellows to add to his ink.

A pack's territory....? Oh, crap, she hadn't even noticed! She inwardly cringed at the thought of her own absentmindedness, but tried to play it off like she'd totally known what she was doing. How did lone wolves normally act when they entered a pack's land though? She was used to fleeing at the sight of them, but that was a very crow thing to do. Wolves were probably much more composed than that.

Her thoughts were broken as he introduced himself, her nerves only slightly calming at his reassurances that the alpha wouldn't throw too much fuss about her being there, but jolted as he asked about her dye colors.

Head tilting to the side to look at them, Bright Talon smiled brightly in answer. "Oh, some passerby had them while I've been traveling, and I just had to have them put on me." She enjoyed how they made her look like she had wings, something she'd always wished she could have grown herself.

There was a pause, and then the she-wolf finally introduced herself with a stutter, "O-Oh, and I'm Bright Talon."

Humming, Clay found himself glancing again at her dyed pelt. He would need to send North to find who she had intercepted, and acquire some new dye. If anything, it would be fun to see the look of dismay on his alpha's face.

The pause caused Clay Fox to smirk, the stuttered words only widening it. His dual colored eyes glanced at her. "No need to be skittish." he only assumed that was her reason for the stutter. "I know I have that effect on others, but come on we have known each other for like...five minutes now." The multi-colored wolf teased.

"So you felt like coming here, hmm? Any particular reason why?" Clay dropped to his belly, his front paws crossing as he watched the she-wolf. His tail thumped slowly against the ground, a sign of content.

She couldn't help one last nervous lick at her chest fur, "S-sorry. I'm just... not used to talking with other wolves, I guess."

Drawing herself up, Bright tried to clear her throat before answering his question, casting a look up at the mountain. There was an intrigued glint in her eye as she did so, her tail wagging slightly. "I wanted to see the mountain, see how high I could go." She seemed to brighten at the idea, "I've always loved tall places."

Then, turning back to him, she asked a bit shyly, "Have you been to the top before?"

"Not use to talking to other wolves?" His head tilted as one ear flopped slightly. Still in the age of adolescent to adult, his limbs did not follow the traits of a full grown wolf just yet. "Ah, lone wolf hm? don't tell Two Tone that," he joked.

His two colored eyes turned towards the mountain range. "Oh?" He hummed. "No, not the top. About midway up actually." His once flopped ear perked forward, getting an idea.

"You know. I can take you up to how far I've been! It's a bit of a travel though, and there's a den up there for a resting point. You can go further past that if you wanted." Would Two Tone be mad at Clay if he had traveled towards their other pack location in the off season? He was a scout after all, he could just call it...scouting.

There was that name drop again, and for a brief second, she stated to wonder if maybe she should be informing this wolf that she was there... but then Clay Fox mentioned traveling up the mountain. Despite his cautioning about it being "a bit of a travel", Bright Talon visibly seemed to brighten at that comment, tail wagging behind her.

"I'd love that!" It was probably fine as long as she had an escort, right? And besides, she wanted to see what it was like up there.

The she-wolf trotted a bit closer, more warmed towards him after being offered the chance to accompany him to the place she wanted to go. "I don't mind the trek. Can we start heading there now?"

Oh, she agreed?

A small tail wag from Clay Fox as he grinned. "Of course!" He could definitely use trek to stretch his legs and learn the lay of the land better would make him a better scout over all.

"I'll race you towards the horizon?" Clay yipped, not waiting for an answer as he sped off, up the slightly snow covered path towards the Bluestone passed. His dual-gazed glanced back to see if the winged dyed female was following.

Oh what an adventure this would turn out to be!

With a gleeful tail wag, the she-wolf nodded and started trotting after him, only to jolt as he issued the challenge. A race, huh? She'd really only raced against birds before, usually losing, but another wolf might be different.

Bright Talon smiled despite the huff she let out at him already taking off, "You're on!"

Then, without further ado, she tore off after him.
