It was early yet, the morning dew still fresh upon the leaves and the sun barely risen. Creatures were just beginning to emerge from their burrows, a rustle of branches, a snapping of twigs. The pack was already on the prowl, having awoken whilst the land was still covered in predawn blues. Polar Sun, being the beta, and as such, the hunt leader, had blithely divvied up the territory for hunting. Well, scouting really, but hunting as far as Fell Field was concerned. Sure, they were supposed to report back any large game in the area...but if Fell Field was right about this, maybe there would be no need to fetch the rest of the pack.
"Wuff, wuff" nose to the ground, Fell Field snuffed the forest floor. His nose working so hard that it literally made its own sound. Luckily the snow had long past melted, making the scents linger and the area easier to navigate.
"Flurry - this way - let's go!" Without waiting, the fluffy male picked up his pace to a fast trot and headed deeper into the forest.

Crystal Flurry was not quite as keen as her cousin to be out on the hunt. This was not their first time going out together, hell, it wasn't even remotely close to their first time. But today there was a strange feeling in the air that didn't sit well with the beige female. Her ears swiveled to the smallest sound, however, she wasn't picking up any odd noises. There was the normal morning sounds of the forest dwellers, yet Flurry's uneasiness persisted.
"Fell, something's off, I think we should -" She glanced over at Fell, just in time to see his fluffy tail disappear into the underbrush. "Well, nevermind, let's proceed without a care in the world," she muttered under her breath sarcastically, but tinged with humor. She'd grown up with the male after all and loved him more than anything in the world.
With a slight shake of her head, she set off on the same path as Fell.

Flurry heard the scream of her cousin and knew immediately that he was injured. She had never heard him make a noise so shrill and pained. She was sure that the rest of the pack would be here shortly - his cry had been so loud. The cry was so jarring that every thought fled from Flurry's mind. Her body was already in motion, sprinting through the last of the underbrush, though she had no recollection of moving. Through a red haze, her eyes took everything in in seconds before she launched herself at the wolverine. She barreled into the beast with as much impact as it had hit her cousin, but where it had let up, she did not. Claws ripping, teeth tearing, in a flurry of viciousness the she-wolf mauled the creature. It's equally sharp claws and teeth dug into her beige coat, but she felt none of the wounds through her beserker haze. Whether she survived or not would be a deal for after, but her full focus was on the threat before her, and its immediate destruction.

Fell had shut his eyes as he flinched away from his best friend trying to rip his throat out. When he felt no pressure, he slowly blinked open blue eyes. The first thing he spotted was his mother and his alpha. Frost Shatter held Flurry to the ground, his body pressing the front half of her down and Polar Sun aiding him. Fell could still hear the faint snarls of the she-wolf, but now that the danger was contained, the injuries Fell obtained flared to life. With a little yelp, he collapsed to the ground, tongue running from his shoulder to his paw and back again. It wasn't long before he felt a gentle presence next to him as Permafrost curled up next to him, her tongue joining his in an attempt to stop his bleeding.
She paused, "You'll be alright pup. C'mon, let's head back to the Hollow. There is much to discuss. Up you go now."
With the large wolf's help, Fell regained his legs. With a quick last glance towards the others, he turned and headed towards home. Permafrost on one side for support as he limped on only three good legs. It would be a while before he would be able to put any weight on the other. "What's going to happen to Flurry, will she be alright?" Fell's words drifted off as he headed into the trees, asking Permafrost the hundred questions on his mind.

The others waited until they could no longer hear the males inquiries before doing anything. Frost Shatter and Polar Sun were both containing Flurry, and Marble was on his feet a few spaces to the side of the female - outta sight. Marble sighed, "I was afraid of this. Looks like it skipped a generation...but it seems as though she takes after Sand Breeze's tendencies." He frowned slightly. "I'm not sure how to knock her outta it."
Frost Shatter glanced over at the other male, "Don't worry, we won't need to knock her outta it. She is tiring, and soon enough she will exhaust herself. Unfortunately it seems that the fight has caused her quite a bit of damage. I fear that she will be in danger of bleeding out. We will need to get her back to the Hollow as soon as we can Marble. For now, we wait."
It didn't take long, another 5 minutes and the beige female couldn't even lift her head from between her paws. Eyelids drooping, unconsciousness claimed her. To be safe, the larger wolves stayed put a moment or two before moving off the female. "Marble, grab her prize and let's head home. Now. Polar, help me wake her."
"Wake her? Are you sure?"
"Yes we need her on her feet, we won't be able to carry her all the way there."
"Hmm agreed." The brown wolf leaned down, and started to clean Flurry's wounds. It was gentle, but eventually the sting woke the other she-wolf up. It was a slow wake, blue eyes peering up, confused at her other pack members. Frost keeping a close eye on her every move.
"Where.....Where are we? Why? - Ouch!" Flurry flinched as her injuries awoke in full force. "Ouch, ouch, ouch" She whined, feeling every cut and bruise. "What happened? Polar? Marble? Ouch! Why does it huuuuurt? Why am I bleeding? Why is there so much blood? Marble? Polar?"
Marble sighed under his breath, relieved that Flurry had returned to normal.
"Crystal Flurry. Let's get you home. We'll explain everything, but for now, let's see if you can regain your legs. Come." Frost's tone broke no argument. He was serious. More serious than any of them had heard him before.
Groaning and trembling, Flurry slowly rose to her feet. Polar moved up on the one side, and Marble, with the wolverine between his teeth, moved to other. The two wolves supported her as they headed back to the Hollow. Frost Shatter took a final look at the blood splattered clearing and followed the others.
