[Bittersweet Candies]

The male cheetah stretched in the tall grass, a yawn escaping his jaws. This was... cozy. The sun was warm, but not uncomfortably so, even with his dark fur. He yawned again before rolling over onto his back, confident that no one was around to be a threat to his safety.

This is what made him happy. Warmth and safe solitude. He took after his mother in that way, he knew. It had been a long time since he had seen her... his mind drifted off to what she might be doing now. Did he have more siblings, perhaps? Or had she chosen the path he seemed to be going on now?

As he thought up different scenarios, he felt himself slowly begin to drift off to sleep...

Shikhov was starving. She was a bit underweight, and her fur had no shine. It was like she hadn't eaten in a few days and if she didn't get something in her soon, she'd wither away. The female cheetah was also very irritated because of how hungry she was.

Crouching down in the tall grass, she had her eyes trained on her target right ahead. It was a very fat, large hare that looked like the most delicious meal she'd ever seen. Her hind legs raised and she dug her toes into the earth before letting out a roar as she pounced. Her mark was true. Teeth sank into the rabbit's throat and she dug her claws into the flesh as she held it down until it stopped breathing and thrashing under her.

With the thrill of the hunt and kill singing in her blood, the female was rather loud in her eating. It wouldn't fill her up, but it was definitely taking the edge off of things. She'd last at least, another day.

What in the world is that noise? Usiku's ears twitched as he tried to identify which direction it was coming from. Grumbling quietly to himself, he rolled back onto his feet. Was something eating? He could've sworn he was alone. He'd been purposefully avoiding anywhere he knew to be close to a pride's border, but he knew that there were plenty of others who wandered like he did with no place to call home.

He stood, his paws treading lightly in the direction of the noise. It didn't take him long to discover the source- a female who had clearly not seen a meal for a while. He sat back, allowing her to eat in peace while still keeping an eye on her. He knew all too well that others were not to be trusted right off the bat, and he had no interest in having a stranger stumble upon him while he napped.
