It was time to do some training with the apprentices. Jak sighed to herself, eyeing the scarred rock she had been using for her own personal training regretfully, before moving away. The ground was baking under the sweltering sun, her dark pelt not helping, but the heat barely touched her; she was raised in the deserts and quite used to the harsh environment. That being said, it didn’t mean she didn’t take precautions; only an idiot would underestimate the desert. So, she stopped briefly to take large gulps of water before moving to the rendezvous point.
She really wasn’t in the mood to train youngsters; if anything, she wanted to train herself or patrol, maybe even break up a fight… or start one. But Jak was quite aware that everyone pulled their own weight in Motoujamii and were expected to follow through with duties. Settling on the edge of the sparring grounds, the dark lioness waited, chin high, large body lax yet ready to leap at any moment.

Ruine-haro knew what he wanted in life, and that was to be just like his mother and become a guard. He was of blood outside the pride, but to him, that didn't matter. His mother told him briefly about his father, that he had strong blood that ran through his veins, which meant he would be an equally strong warrior once he was older. While the soldier route didn't really interest Ruine too much, he needed those skills to be a great guard.
The adolescent trekked across the sifting sand dunes, looking for the one he was to meet. His eyes narrowed, hmm maybe he was to be elsewhere?
Shaking his head, Ruine continued forward, his speed doubled to a trot. Would he be late in meeting the other? Maybe he had just got the meeting spot wrong. |

Was the whelp late? Jak squinted at the sun for a moment, frowning, before she began to stand. If he wasn't going to show up, why should she stay there, sitting and getting fat waiting on a no show? Or wait on someone who didn't take training seriously enough to show up on time?
Just as she was about to turn and leave, duties be damned, did she see an adolescent running across the sand. She paused, hesitating. She really should leave; Jak rarely put up with tardiness. But she really didn't want to be accused of shirking her duties.
Sighing, she decided to wait, expression fixed in a scowl. "You're late," she called out, voice full of scorn.
