The infirmary had seemed to be near bustling with activity, as more and more dragons and folk were being injured or sick. Kinitarth had felt bad for his fellow dragons, had mourned losses and especially had spent a long night after their own wing had seen Thanoth be grounded--potentially permanently. He himself had been having a more stellar time of things. No blunders in front of Siloth. In fact, he’d felt on top of his game since he’d begun to notice someone had been noticing.. Him. Neirinth was not something Kinitarth had ever expected of himself. To be the only focus of such lovely facets. Such sweet words that had made him near giddy. It felt almost similar to how Sam’kel felt when spending time with K’lar--light, airy. On top of the world and never coming down. He had anticipated their.. date, of sorts (was it a date? Dare he call it a date..?) , with bated breath for when rest days lined up very soon.

Kinitarth hadn’t expected to snap from Between into a massive clump of threadfall, either.

The ugly bandages across his chest protected the massively infected wound, attempted to keep the area clean while it tried to heal. His hide was a powdery, dusty blue from ill health, not the near-glowing teal he’d been while chattering excitedly to His any chance he could about the cute, sparkly brown to noticed him among the crowd. But here he was, his lithe form a bit sprawled out in his allotted space in the infirmary. Through their bond, Kinitarth could feel Sam’kel deep asleep with the help of whatever drugs they’d given him for his pain. Missing several fingers and the salvageability of his foot still questionable, his rider deserved all the rest while he could. A healer bustled in, and all Kini could do was vaguely blink as they checked over his transfusion equipment. The donated ichor from Mnereth helped, but he was still listless.

He’d tried to not reach out to Neirinth for the.. Day? Two days? He’d been tucked into the infirmary so far. Time was awash when he spent more of it sleeping than awake. But he was near ashamed to reach out, for what was a missed date with a tiny blue to a handsome brown? Perhaps his sweet sparkle had found another to recite such dear poetry. Unfair to assume such of Neirinth, yet the intrusive thought nests in his mind as the heavy irony of it settles in. Alone with his thoughts, he craved companionship…

High Reaches had been just suffering under the brunt of a vicious month of thread that had decimated the wings. Riders and dragons wounded, missing limbs, infected, suffering from phosphorous poisoning, grounded... dead. Somehow in the midst of it, despite his being a rather young brown and more on the pudgy side of healthy and large, Neirinth had been flourishing and flying better than he'd ever flown before. It could be that he'd been working so well with F'nar, always had despite his tendency towards wanting to simply laze about and watch the clouds, thinking of pretty blues and browns and bronzes. His rider often equated how well they'd been trained to something involving the runnerbeasts from his past and though he denied it now, as a young hatchling Neirinth had bitten the man hard enough to leave a mark out of frustration at being likened to nothing more than some beast.

On the sunny afternoon that had been so full of wind and thread, a day that would have otherwise been beautiful and touched by the warmth of coming spring, one particular dragon fell that had nearly torn his hearts out. Before that moment he'd only thought of the date he would take the little blue on, somewhere lakeside in the mountains to watch the clouds pass by, he even had a couple of poems thought up. Now it was all in the past and it had been days since he'd even seen the little blue, fear creeping into his hearts as he kept himself open but distant so that Kinitarth could heal up properly and focus on his rider.

Most of what he could feel and glean from simple emotions and from other dragons that had been in the infirmary, the pretty blue was always asleep and woke up just rarely. It was understandable of course and for all that he wanted to see Kinitarth he had kept himself stretched on his own weyrledge, eyes yellow and gray with worry for the cute little blue that had made and still made his hearts flutter. While he was content to simply suffer in silence and lament his lost opportunity, the blonde rider he'd chosen was having absolutely none of it.

"You act as though he's died, he's been injured but he lived and that's reason enough to go and see him, to celebrate." F'nar said, leaning against Neirinth's broad chest as he looked out over the Bowl. "Ever think when he's awake he might be lonely and wanting to see a familiar face? Especially one that tried to take him on a date." He elbowed the brown a bit and let an easy grin slide over his features as sparks of blue and green began to spread over the dragon's eyes.

You don't think that he's forgotten already? Or would simply want to be with his rider? Imposing was what had Neirinth stalled from going to see the sweet blue more than the fear that Kinitarth had decided to give up on him, or worse. "Sitting around here like some listless and forlorn beast isn't going to do anything towards fixing the first part, so go and see him." F'nar moved his thin frame to head back inside and stretch a bit before their sweeps later in the day, there never seemed to be enough time. "Now's the best time to go if you're gonna do it."

Slowly Neirinth stood up and seemingly fell from his ledge all at the same time, giving his rider a parting One day we'll need to speak about your hypocrisy regarding a young girl. that had F'nar blushing despite his heavily tanned skin. Luckily for him the sparkle touched brown was already gone and at the entrance to the infirmary, tucking his wings delicately against his muscled sides as he glanced with yellow eyes about the inner structure. Kinitarth. There was a wistful note as he said the blue's name, still scanning until he saw the delicate form that was stretched out on the cold stone so far away from the light he deserved. Luckily there weren't too many forms between himself and the dull looking blue he'd seen glowing what seemed so long ago now and with a gentle motion he laid down beside him and stretched a warm wing out as if to lay it down over his form. Hello beautiful heart, I've been so worried not seeing you in the sky every day, lighting it up.
