Sekayi had been wandering aimlessly through the rogue lands for what seemed like a long time now.

After a while, he stopped keeping track of the cycles of the sun and moon that marked the passage of time. The memories of his birth home were becoming more and more spotty, although he would never forget his mother and siblings. Sometimes he felt lonely, remembering what it had been like to be surrounded by familiar faces.

The large pale lion had met many strangers and seen many sights along his nomadic life. It hadn't been all bad, however he was more than ready to settle and end his life of solitude. Sekayi found himself in the deserts approaching what looked to him like civilization.

He'd been chased away from less friendly prides in the past, and had developed some anxiety over approaching established groups, but he would still give it a shot.

Big Hobbit

If she were to be honest, the deaf Queen had left her pride's boundaries to set paw in the desert. Sometimes, one needed to feel the sun on their pelt, and the sand stinging their paws, for it was a reminder of the reality of life. Her mate had settled for the afternoon, and Jendayi Maat had no desire other than to go to the narrow stretch of river nearby to find a drink. It was why the sight of a large yellow male catching her eye was so startling. Slowly, and with a grace that belied her age, the female made her way to him with a small smile, "Welcome." Her tone was warm, though the word sounded almost wrong, flat. It was pronounced strangely by the deaf, after all.

"You must be thirsty." Her voice beckoned him to join her, metal jewelry on her neck tinkling together as she sat in the sand, canting her head. He was large, wasn't he? In comparison to her, at least....And looked as though he might well be able to survive the clime out here, "I am Jendayi Maat of the Canjawa'yashi. Please, keep your muzzle where I can see." For it was the only way she could make out their words any more...Much to her discontent. The only sounds were muted, like the sound of the wind, or the deeper timbre of some voices.

Not without trepidation, Sekayi continued to make his way toward the settlement until he was in clear view of those that lived there. The male held his breath as he was approached by one of the residents. Carefully observing her movements, he did not detect the hostility that he'd seen previously in others, so he came to a gradual stop and stood his ground.

He released the breath that he'd been holding when the female spoke to him in a calm and seemingly cordial manner. There was an odd inflection to the way she spoke, but he quickly composed himself to introduce himself.

"I am actually, thank you," he spoke making sure to face her, "I am Sekayi, just a wanderer. It's nice to meet you Jendayi Maat."

With that, he made to follow the lioness to wherever she was headed.
