Duties were done, the halls cleaned, and food was simmering in the kitchen while the rest of the candidates were given some free time to do whatever they wanted until it was time eat. Despite the chill that wafted through the stoney halls Vodex jogged barefoot with a small bag in hand, skidding to a stop at the end of the hall to peek around and see if anyone was there. It was quiet as the sound of a group chatting slowly faded into a soft echo as the pink haired man slowly made his way down. It wasn't as if he technically wasn't allowed but being caught meant questions and explanations topped off to why he had a bag full of possibly stolen apples. With the slow changing of the seasons it meant that the light waned gradually from the sky sooner.

A few more twisted turns slowly as the halls slowly creeped higher and Vodex finally reached a crevice tucked away in one of the walls. Squeezing a way in Vodex shuffled his way towards the waxing light as the space gradually opened to the sky. It wasn't big enough to be a weyr, barely large enough for two people to sit shoulder to shoulder. Still he took his spot, bare feet hung off the edge dangling as he watched the sun set in the sky. Pulling an apple out he ate it in a few bites before throwing the core off into bowl not giving any attention to what happened to it.

Valendyr was still surprised that he had been Searched. The young man had thought that he'd have to find a new craft, or prove more useful to the Weyr than simply being his sisters support! And yet, the green dragon had insisted that he had that something that set him apart from many others on Pern. By accepting Candidacy, Valendyr had given his life a new direction, and if nothing else, bought him time to figure out where he belonged without worry.

His time with S'vor was minimal at best; the Wingsecond was busy, if not with duties, than with his lover. That was just as well for Valendyr, as it meant he could mostly come and go as he pleased without anyone checking up on him. Pandyr had also been unusually busy... In fact, even as a Candidate, the young man felt more alone than ever. He had no close friends, though he was hoping to make some during Candidacy; he had no family outside of Pandyr, and with her busy with drills and her blue, he was rather alone. A small part of him ached for what he once had before Thread stole it all away--but he was independent enough to keep those feelings well buried.

Sensitive as he was, he wasn't going to let anyone know.

So it was, chores completed, and the evening meal long since wrapped, the young man was investigating some of the corridors of the Weyr. He wasn't breaking any rules--it was free time for the rest of the night. While some chose to go back to the Barracks, Valendyr didn't like the crowds, and preferred to spend time training his flits, Dagger and Switchblade.

"No, no--Switch. Like this," he gave a little whistle, and had his brown launch from his shoulder, fly a circle about him, and land on the opposite shoulder. The little brown's eyes whirled a bright blue-green, pleased at his performance, and pleased that Val was so happy.

"See? Now you try."

The younger blue flit, Switchblade, wasn't quite as keen. Giving a curious chirp, the blue firelizard launched from his shoulder at the whistle, but instead of circling back to Val, the blue instead took off and zoomed down an adjacent corridor. Valendyr grimaced. "No, no, come back here!" He tried to command, to will the little blue firelizard, but it was of no avail. Dagger gave a scolding creel, and took off after the other, which in turn, caused Valendyr to follow.

Switch wasn't trying to be a terrible flit. No, instead, the blue had simply caught sight of something--or rather, had caught the scent of something--and it was good. Suddenly veering into the wall, the little blue followed the scent of fruit, and wound up crawling right into Vodex's little hideaway. Eyes whirling a bright blue-green, the little creature gave a happy chirp at the stranger, before immediately crawling straight to the pouch of fruit. He sent the other a happy a rainbow, before looking expectantly up. Creeeel?

He could hear it before he could even see the little creature that darted into his little hideaway, and for a moment his heart raced a little in the thought of being caught by a wingleader or worse. It wasn’t until the flash of blue was chirping at him and digging into the pouch full of apples that he realised that his new guest was someone’s hungry flit. Grinning at the creature he opened up the pouch pulling out another redfruit along with a parrying knife to cut smaller pieces. He offered one up to the flit, setting it down on the stone before taking a few bites off for himself.

“I don’t know whose flit you are but you are not suppose to tell anyone where I am, pretty sure this place is off limits to candidates so. Shhhh” He held the knife up to his lips to blow the noise before giving the flit a few more slivers of fruit. “I don’t want to get stuck having to do extra chores again, the last set of scrubbing things was enough for me.”
It wasn’t amusing to talk to the small flit, but he did wonder if anyone was nearby or if the small thing had wandered quite some distances away from them in curiosity.

Switch's eyes whirled a brighter blue-green as the stranger didn't seem to object to his appearance. In fact, he was even being rewarded for such a deed! The little creature happily gobbled up the slivers of fruit, pausing now and then to send a grateful little chirrup at his hero. The little creature happily listened to everything Vodex said, tilting his head this way and that, before giving a few sympathetic cheeps.

Unfortunately, though, it didn't take long for Dagger to appear. The little brown appeared directly from Between and gave Switchblade such a scolding that he caused the blue to drop his apple slice and take wing. The brown flit circled once, gave Vodex a proper scolding as well, before disappearing.

Now they were both in for it!

Switchblade gave a small, pained (and dramatic) creel. He knew they were caught now!

Thankfully, it wasn't any Wingleader or Candidatemaster sent to them. Instead, Valendyr finally figured out where his flit had gotten to. While he hadn't expected to find a whole little hideaway within the stone Weyr, he doubly didn't expect to find Vodex and some treats. While he didn't move far into the space, he did give a sigh and a shake of his head. "Switch, will you get back here already? Stop bothering strangers." He glanced from his flit to Vodex, though certainly tried his best to give the other space.

"Sorry to interrupt," he added after a moment, feeling a strange mix of awkwardness and annoyance at his blue. Dagger, who clung firmly to Val's shoulder, couldn't help but give another shameful cluck at Switch and Vodex, as if the two were actually doing something wrong. "Nice little setup you've got there, though," he complimented.

He wouldn't stay if he wasn't invited--but he wasn't going to let Switch be a pest, either. The little blue just wasn't as easily trained at his brown.
