His mother was out with some of his sisters, but that hardly made a dent in their family den's population. Having eight other siblings was such a hassle, especially when a majority of them were loud and obnoxious. Kabili could hardly get a peaceful night of sleep, and today was one of those days where he woke up tired and grumpy. The young cub rubbed at his eye, trying to drive the feeling of exhaustion away.

"Where did mom go again?" he groggily asked one of his brothers, who mumbled something about a trip they were all expected to go on.

...Great.

Kabili's ears flattened against the back of his head, and the pale cub decided then that it was better to slip away now and try to find some other cubs to play with before his mother came back from her trip. Knowing his luck, he would be next, and he was too tired to learn anything.

Generally, Kabili was an easy going cub. A bit of a cry baby, sure, but not nearly as troublesome as some of his siblings. He was likely a blessing in such a large and rambunctious family, but it also meant that when he slipped away it was more difficult to notice. His voice would not be missed, since he rarely spoke up at all. Hunkering low to the ground, the small cub crawled his way out of the den and towards freedom without his father noticing.

Fresh morning air greeted him, and that was enough to finish waking him up. Smiling, the cub trotted down a familiar path away from the chaos of his family, but recognizable enough that he'd never get lost on the trail.

Zuru walked along a path looking for interesting things he could put in his new home, he rather liked his den and thought on finding a mate to help him fill his den with cubs and happiness. He would have to find a mate first which could prove tricky since he was a new blood. He was determined to start out of his plan though and start telling his stories to the young cubs of the pride, let them get to know him and show them that he would not bring pain and death to the pride through disease. It would take time for the pride to trust the new bloods. He picked up a few old bones that he thought looked interesting to take back to his den with him. He put them in a bag hanging around his neck. He caught sight of something pale and looked to see what it was.

Kabili peered forward at the stranger. He was young, and still did not know most of the pride. It was difficult for him to recognize the lion, and he knew what his mother would say if he was caught talking to strangers. What if they were rogue blooded, sick and diseased? Kabili did not want to die! His sisters would laugh at him first and then mourn his loss later. It was best to just slip away before he was noticed...

The cub crawled back onto the ground, and crawled off the beaten trail and into the bushes. He crawled in deep enough to believe that his presence would go unnoticed, and the strange lion would simply walk on by him. Once the stranger left, he would just continue on his merry trip away from his bunch of rambunctious and rowdy siblings. Little to his knowledge, his tail was sticking quite a ways out of the shrubbery.

To his credit, his coat was pale enough that it did not stand out. His entire family were a mix of chromatic colors that were advantageous to blending in to their surroundings. It would have helped if he had just tried... harder. But, trying hard wasn't his forte.

Zuru watched as the little blur disappeared from sight he looked around and didn't see where the blur had gone. "Hey you have nothing to fear from me little blur, are you alright?" He called out, he understood there would still be fear and mistrust till he could show the others he wasn't going to kill them with his new blood. He considered what he could do to put them at ease if they still refused to come out at his request. "If you come out I could tell you a story unless you prefer I tell my story to nobody which I don't mind doing." He chuckled and maybe he would just for the practice of telling stories.

How could he have been seen?

Kabili held back a small groan of dismay that his hiding spot had clearly been uncovered. His pale tail curled back into the underbrush, too late to truly conceal the cub's presence. While the pride was really one big family, his mom had not been quiet about her distrust of the new blood filling it. If Kabili had not met the lion before, how could he possibly know if they were born into the pride or just joining it? His mother would be really upset if he spoke with a stranger.

To ignore someone would be incredibly rude as well, which he was also sure his mother would be upset at him for. The young cub found himself suddenly in a dilemma, with no clear way how to solve it for himself. So, he compromised. He remained concealed in the underbrush. "Who are you?" his voice called out softly, soft enough that he could barely even be heard. He didn't care about stories, he cared about knowing who this stranger was.

Zuru smiled the cub had decided to speak to him well that was progress even though the cub was still hiding from him, but that was alright getting to know others started with a first step and this was his first step trying to connect with the cubs and tell them stories of his adventures. Perhaps someday it would breed a new generation of Nezi that were not afraid to adventure into the outside lands and come back home with new exciting tales and different meats and trinkets. "I am Zuru one of the new bloods, and who are you little underbrush creature? Have you been living in the underbrush long?" He teased the young cub trying to see if he could break the ice between them and show the cub that he meant no harm.
