He knew he made it harder for Erastan to bond with other people, that his mind was always on protecting and shielding him first. He loved him for it. And althrough he could not help his instincts he wished he had managed to stay still and calm in that moment. Now he knew he had only made things worse.

When he examined his own mental thought process and actions he knew that he had not really thought the girl was about to hurt Aspalath but even if she had tried to touch him an Aspalath had panicked and tried to run he could have ended up hurting himself. It was not worth the risk.
