Round 4 / Day 2 / Roll 2: Bad Luck Grid
Blue Tinanath: 5/12 HP Acting Wingsecond
Held saves: 1

Quote:
6. Everything. Hurts. Your dragon is in pain, you're in pain, and you're exhausted -- physically and emotionally. Nothing seems to be going right, and everything seems to be going wrong. Ah, but the day is not yet done, and the story is not over... No, depsite your pain, you find a new wave of hope, or at least determination. You will not let the Enemy win! In fact, you see where a wingmate is in trouble, and are able to call out to them in warning--or might even be able to save them with a burst of flame and speed! You earn a save! Quote a fellow weyrling to remove one damage roll from this round.

It'll be all right, Tin, Ph'ton reassured his beloved, patting him on the neck. We'll get the next Thread that comes through. A wave of determination washed over the young dragonrider from Tinanath, and he smiled. There wasn't anything that could defeat them! Tired, in pain, whatever. They were going to win!

Round 4 / Day 2 / Roll 3: General Grid
Blue Tinanath: 5/12 HP Acting Wingsecond
Held saves: 1

Quote:
3. Your dragon spots a silver strand of Thread. You visualize the space you need to go to flame it, but don't take into account the wind, or your dragon's flight speed. Instead, you appear Between but have completely overshot your airspace and are now out in the open, exposed, and with no Thread anywhere near you. Shaffit all! Don't you look the fool. Whoops.

Out of the corner of one eye Tinanath saw another twisting spiral of Thread. Shall we, Mine? he smirked, waiting (for once) for coordinates from his rider. With a nod, Ph'ton visualized the location, and they went Between -- only to emerge well clear of the threat, out in the open and exposed.

"Shaffit!" Ph'ton swore. Must have miscalculated the wind. Or Tinanath's enthusiasm, or something. He'd made them both look bad. Quickly they rejoined the formation. They'd get it right next time!

Round 4 / Day 2 / Roll 4: Wingsecond Grid
Blue Tinanath: 5/12 HP Acting Wingsecond
Held saves: 1

Quote:
6 You are inspiring and a natural! Your dragon gives encouragement to those who need it, and an impassioned speech. You're really getting into this, and you definitely are feeling great. You're such a beacon of hope to the rest of your fellow weyrlings that they too seem inspired to keep up the fight. All weyrlings currently fighting Thread get +3 HP!

Once again Tinanath's confidence soared, despite the mistake they'd made, and once more he addressed the other weyrlings. Keep going, my brothers and sisters! We are nearly done -- soon we will return to the Weyr having triumphed over our ancient enemy! We will be able to rest and heal our wounds and be PROUD of what we have done! For what we have done is worth being proud of. You all have performed magnificently!

Ph'ton thumped Tinanath's neck fondly. Atta boy, Tin! We've really done it! They were a real fighting pair, and he was a real dragonrider! Tears formed at the corners of his eyes, and he sobbed gently, up in the air and behind his goggles where no one could see. His mother would be so proud of him. By Faranth, he had avenged her death!

Round 4 / Day 1 / Roll 3: Standard Grid
Blue Loreleth: 9/12 HP
Held saves: 0

Loreleth sent back a wave of fondness for Tinanath. Once again, the other blue offered encouragement and praise. The fight was not yet over, but Loreleth didn't want to let Tinanath down--or any of his siblings. His words seemed to revigorate the chunky blue, who put his hearts into finishing up their round of the fight!

He flamed down a writhing tangle of silver, only to pop Between to avoid getting hit with another strand. Unfortunately, when he reappeared, he found himself dangerously close to another clump but Illiandinth's warning had him fare well! Giving a creel of surprise, the blue dropped like a stone, only to find himself safely out of harms way. Again, he sent a wave of pleased fondness and gratitude towards the bronze, and carried on.

Round 4- Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid
Bronze Illiandinth 13/16 hp
Held saves: 0

5. It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!

-----

Evidently his interim Wingsecond's words were inspiring, for Illiandinth felt a renewal of strength. As his rider guided him, he flew to combat their ancient foe. With a bass cry of defiance, he belched forth a long stream of flame, and watched with satisfaction as the Thread fell to ashes.

Round 4 - Day 2 - Roll 2: General Grid
Brown Hessianth: 10/14 hp
Held saves: 0

Quote:
No Thread is near you, and there's nothing really to be done. The winds are calm and you're in good spirits. You've got this. A moment to think, a moment to breathe. Look at you, fighting Thread like a real rider!

Hessianth was really starting to feel sore, but they would get to land soon and that alone would bolster him to go for a while longer. Then you'll relax and I'll probably help bag stone. Certainly, L'nik could have chosen to rest then as well, but he couldn't shake a restlessness that was rooting inside of him. Maybe he'd feel differently when he was on the ground and would also want to just lay down like the dead.

But he was feeling pretty good about it all right then.

Had C'sar been a less restrained young man he might have given a whoop when they were able to flame another errant Thread. As it was, he patted Illi's shoulder approvingly, heartened by their performance.

Round 4 - Day 2 - Roll 3: General Grid
Brown Hessianth: 10/14 hp
Held saves: 1 - Using on Illi

Quote:
As you're flying, you notice one of your wingmates in trouble! You call out to them, to try to warn them, and hopefully avoid witnessing a catastrophe. Save! Remove all damage from a single roll for this Round!

Soon. Soon. But there was no more time to take it all in if they wanted to see everybody safely landed. Worry for Vedmath crept back in, as they'd heard no news of the bronze since he'd fallen from the sky, and it simply fed into that desire for the rest to stay safe.

Diligence now would be key, and L'nik couldn't agree more.

It was the sort of diligence that would pay off when Aleyath, his flames ever on the wrong targets that day, had another of his bronze brethren in sight. If his rider hadn't told him to set aside his issues with certain ranks amongst his clutch, he may have kept an eye out for other siblings who weren't as hearty and able to take a good hit.

But he couldn't smother both his heroic nature and the words of his L'nik. Flames, coming your way! he shouted in alarm to Illiandanth, along with an image from above to show the direction, hopefully with enough time to move.

Round 4- Day 2 - Roll 3: General Grid
Bronze Illiandinth 13/16 hp
Held saves: 0

2. Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

------

To say that C'sar was over it would have been a gross underestimate. He was just... done.

Round 4 / Day 2 / Roll 1: Gung-Ho Grid
Brown Aleyath: 14/14 HP
Held saves: 0

It was a replay of earlier, only instead of deep brown, the hide Aleyath mistakenly sent his flame hurtling toward was bronze. He let out a shout of alarm that was accompanied by a sharp, audible screech, hoping that someone might intervene before Illiandinth was injured too badly.

    Quote:
    2. Your dragon spots a clump of Thread just barely out of their wingspace. Well, what's the harm in that! You veers towards it in a hurry and belch out flame, certain of victory.... Unfortunately, it was at the same time your neighboringweyrling was diving for it, too! You cry out warning, but wind up flaming them instead! Ouch! Quote a fellow weyrling to take Flame damage. -5 HP!

Round 4 / Day 2 / Roll 2: Standard Grid
Blue Loreleth: 9/12 HP
Held saves: 1

The blue dragon continued the fight. His worry had turned more into dedication for those his tender hearts cared about; the better he fought, the safer they all would be... and it was that thought that kept him on his toes. When he could, the white-eyed blue tried to look out for his siblings, ready to warn them of danger, and prepared to intervene if necessary!

Round 4 / Day 2 / Roll 3: Roulette Grid
Blue Loreleth: 9/12 HP
Held saves: 1

When he was called upon to deliver Firestone, the blue had little trouble. Though he hurt, and his rider hurt, he did his best not to show it. Throwing the heavy sacks of stone wasn't terribly difficult for J'lar; he was used to doing grunt work, and that's all this side of dragonriding was. Thankfully, they did well enough they ere even given a salute....

Which had Loreleth practically blushing, and J'lar feeling terribly awkward about the whole thing. He....gave a hesitant salute back, before hurrying Loreleth back to their position. Sometimes, he was still amazed he'd managed to Impress and that he was here at all. But now wasn't a time to reminisce; all he could do was fight.
