Update 1 - Bonelands Earthquake & the Great Hunt
The strange goings-on in the world didn't really reach the Motoujamii desert until after the most recent group of explorers left for the Mwezi'Johari. Around the desert, especially near the oasis, strange lights and whispers are becoming more common.. but it's not so worrying yet that anybody has raised an alarm about it.
To the South, the Ithambo'hlabathi were dealing with strange sights, sounds and unseasonable weather before an earthquake split apart their land, killing a few, injuring many and putting a halt to their seasonal migration. The storm and the earthquake also made a mess of the Outpost and though nobody was seriously inured there, things are currently strange enough that most (if not all) lions who were there have returned to the desert to make sure their home isn't also falling apart.
It's also shortly after the Foray leaves and around the time the Outpost is abandoned that The Great Hunt takes place. A giant serpent that swims through the sand like water was spotted in the desert by a hunting party and, after they failed to subdue it, a giant hawk appeared and weakened it so the party was finally able to chase it off. Nobody is quite sure what the hell that means.
The desert isn't falling apart so much as things really are getting really weird.

Update 3a - An Unending Sandstorm
The sandstorms have been getting worse and worse until, one day.. it doesn't stop. It goes on for days, dying down enough a couple times a day for trips to the oasis and the occasional attempt to hunt.. the situation is not dire but the longer it lasts, the more likely it seems that the pride is headed for a crisis.
The returning foray reaches the desert during this sandstorm and, unable to pass through it, turn to the Outpost in the Ithambo'hlabathi to make camp and wait it out. They find the Outpost abandoned and their neighbours close by despite a migration season that should be taking them to the other side of their territory. The Bonelands lions are able to fill the group in about the recent earthquake & the unusual number of sandstorms.. so the group settles into the Outpost to wait for the storm to end.
The deadline to get your rogue/outside breedings is now set. You have until April 9, 2019 to get cubs.

Update 3b - Stranded Search Party Moves On

During the rockslide, the search party managed to avoid serious injury and has taken some time to rest & recover back in the Nergui temple. Some scouting in the mountain range finds the known paths through are blocked and there's still just something about the whole area that feels unstable. So.. the group has made the decision to go around the mountains.
To the surprise of the Mwezi'Johari in the group, they stumble upon a neighbour they didn't realize they had. After following a path through some of the mountains the group has found their way into the territory of the Ulili'mlindaji, a pride that regularly welcomes outside visitors and tends to shrines to many gods. The lost search party is bigger than the usual groups that visit but Ulili Leader Salma welcomes them, and the group makes another stop on the journey back to the Mwezi'Johari.
Our group will be in the Ulili'mlindaji for the next few weeks. Enjoy!

Update 4a - The Sandstorm Ends, the Foray Returns
After nearly two weeks of endless sandstorm and the pride barely scraping by, peace returns to the Motoujamii desert very abruptly. High above the sandstorm refuge, two winged lions are spotted just before the storm finally comes to an end but they disappear shortly after. While some of the pride know exactly what they've seen, most would be unsure or in denial.. but the strange sighting is set aside as the pride quickly gets to work undoing the damage done by the storms. The hunters find food, the water-seekers find water, the army starts assessing the changes to their structures and the landscape.. and finally, the Firekin waiting at the Outpost in the Bonelands are able to come home.
The Foray returns with news that the Nergui have disappeared and that some Firekin were left behind after being stranded over the mountains. They also come back with several pregnant lionesses, a couple just barely making it home in time, but all cubs sired during this foray are safely delivered in the desert.
As the pride starts getting back to normal, the council has several secretive meetings before word starts to spread that they were saved by the gods. While there are no official announcements made about this, it's clear that the council is making a statement by not refuting it.
OOC Notice: The council has made a deal with the Goddess of Evolution. In exchange for her help in ending the sandstorm, they've agreed to reintroduce religion to the Motoujamii. Unexpectedly, their new patron has not come right home to make a big show of her efforts in saving them from the storm, so there's time before any official changes come. Most Firekin are expected to resist, but this is the time for any Safi-leaning lions. A god claiming to be Finar-si's child has come to the desert when you most needed divine intervention!
Other gods are still unwelcome in and around the desert. There will be exceptions in the future but for the most part, we will come to you or advertise clearly if/when we seek other gods for the Firekin.

Update 4b - Back in the Mwezi'Johari

After a few weeks spent in the Ulili-mlindaji, the stranded search party moves on and makes the final leg of its journey back to the Mwezi'Johari. The moon has come back, the mysterious goings-on at the waterhole have ended (rumour is that it was a god all along?? that can't be right!) and things are finally getting back to normal! The search party is welcomed back with great excitement but the Firekin don't stay long before continuing on their way back to the desert as well.
Our stragglers will make it home on April 9th, the same day as the rogue breeding deadline. This way you can take the extra time in the rogue lands and we won't forget to bring you home!

Update 4c - Sentinel & Watcher Ranks Available
The Foray 2018 thread has been updated to include a rank change form. Any lion who participated in this foray can officially apply for a promotion as long as they meet the requirements! RPs started after the date of this post (February 23, 2019) cannot be used for a promotion, but RPs finished after this date may be.
The form is at the bottom of the rules post in the Foray 2018 thread linked above, fill it in and post in that same thread!
