As the scratching sound stretched on, Io's mouth formed into a tiny, horrified "o" while her body was frozen stiff where she stood. Even though her sister wasn't the type to explode, Io still felt a tiny pang of dread and guilt. But scaring little sisters was one of the greater joys in life, so that overruled any negative emotion always.
"Ghosts?" Io breathed, gazing around. Contrary to what one might normally expect, the lioness looked rather delighted instead of fearful. At her sister's prompting, Io's attention moved onto the scroll in Nique's paws. She stepped closer and peered over her shoulder to read the text. The fake expression she donned was nearly identical to that of her sister's.
"Well, the best bits are the most important bits one can have, aren't they?" she asked softly. Her maw twitched. Then it twitched again. "Especially in those two lovers'--case--...." She let out a strange sound and it became evident she was straining to hold in a giggle fit, and succeeding quite well for the most part.

Io sniggered as her sister pressed the joke even further. She made a move as if to shove her sister's shoulder with her own, but stopped mid-way. Her sister was one of the only lions Io felt comfortable acting that way around. Not that other lions made her uncomfortable...mostly...sisters were just special.
"Ooooh, writer's block, huh?" Io commiserated with an exaggerated pout. There was genuine sympathy in it, however. "I think you're on the right track, though~," she drawled, peering closer and ignoring the new scratch along the scroll. "A forced ship is a sinking ship. But it could still work. You just need the right angle..." the lioness pondered, rubbing her chin with the back of her paw. Then a spark lit her eyes and she grinned.
"They need a third lover," she said. "But not right away. Maybe it's a love triangle at first, and then..." she trailed mischievously.

Io flicked her tail playfully as she listened to her younger sister ramble on. Nique was a fun springboard for ideas, and Io always felt she was just a touch more creative than she herself was, too. Io was good for putting snippets of inspiration here and there, but Nique was the one who could really run with it. They had fun together. Especially when Io's eyes turned from scrolls to the present real world... Real life ships were the best.
"Hmm~, the third will die heroically, that's a given...and it works well with the history, but..." Io mulled. "You're right that the other two shouldn't have a happy ending. Think about how the poor third one suffered! Gave up his own life! And for a good cause, no less. No, no, no, it won't do for a happy ending," she paced and paced, and then stopped suddenly.
"They should be smote," Io said decidedly. "Some sort of god or divine interference. The other two should definitely be punished. Life lessons and all that--the morals of history," the lioness explained. Maybe Io was biased towards chaos. Mass destruction, natural disasters, and unhappy endings were fun! Who could say otherwise?!

Io laughed quietly now and then at the various comments and gestures her sister made. She was known to laugh regardless of if a joke had been made. She was simply amused by being with her sister. She didn't really need a reason why.
"Death by the heavens is a glorious title, too," Io murmured, captivated by the poetry of it all. Her sister was much quicker at writing than she was, and a very fluid thinker. It was always enjoyable to watch. And Io was always happy to provide her with plot notes and twists. She enjoyed their occasional 'collaborations'.
Now, did others enjoy their collaborations? Maybeeee, maybe not. But Io was of the same mind as her sister. A little spice on a hum-drum history lesson was far from a bad idea as far as she was concerned. Not to mention they had a talent for getting out of trouble. And besides, maybe adding a little extra drama and entertainment actually encouraged others to learn more? Maybe they were doing future generations a favor?
"Now," Io started, ready to direct her younger sister, "we put the scroll where it 'belongs'...and find someone to read it," Io said knowingly, a wry smile on her maw. "We need to make sure that the morals of this historical event are properly understood, don't we? It's part of our job to preserve the integrity." Mostly Io just wanted to get some unsuspecting pride member cornered into reading one of their, err...tactfully restored history scrolls to see what their reaction would be. And then act positively certain that the events portrayed are 100% accurate. And then convince the other lion of that. And then see what happens...
She bowed to beckon her sister onward and said, "Shall we?"
Alpaca Chobi idk if you wanted to end it yet?? We should def have a part 2, kekekekkk
