Eyes like black coals against his bright red fur, Kumonryu scanned the area in front of him with distaste. He normally avoided the border if he could help it, but with everyone on edge and some even leaving...

Alright, he'd admit that he wanted to watch them go. Good riddance, they were only staining his lovely pride. Once they squeezed out the rift-raft, the Baharim'toto could flourish the way it should, he thought with a sniff. If they weren't going to fall in line, then they didn't deserve to be here.

Baby steps though. He kept his inner dialogue to himself, because to try and force the issue would only make them push back, and he preferred manipulating others to his whims.

Most had already left, but there were some, he knew, that had mentioned to him that they were leaving soon. He sneered inwardly at the thought, remembering them asking if he wanted to join them. As if! He had politely spun a tale of wanting to "be here to help", but truthfully, they could shove it.

Her world had changed so much since she was a cub. Odelette had been born and raised in a place where the status quo was very different from almost every where else. When the pride had disbanded, plagued, crumbled, lost, she had wandered away without any idea on what she should be doing.

Perhaps she could have stayed with her mother, or even followed her father but she had not she had struck out alone and found the world to be a strange, cold place. She had toed a few borders, carefully, but she hadn’t found a place to call home. This was her latest exploration. She had heard of a pride by the sea, on the sand, a peaceful place.

She of course had no idea bout the upheaval, the death of the king, the new rules. She had come to see the place and find out if this was the place for her, or not.

What she hadn’t expected, was to run in to a male. While she knew, of course, that no pride was like her own, where females were the least dominant of the species, she found it hard to break old habits and so when she saw the male, she dropped her eyes immediately. Her father had taught her to be respectful to males, to show them she was subservient. What was expected of her. These lessons also included waiting to be spoken to, so she stood quietly waiting for the male to approach and greet her, her head bowed in reverence to the male.

The slight movement at the corner of his eye is what initially drew his attention. He withheld a sneer at the sight, annoyed that of course, his one venture out to the border ended in him running into a rogue. Though he would admit -- she was a pretty one. Her white coat almost made her glow in the sunlight.

That said, what really made him pause was the gesture she'd made. Eyebrow raising, Ryu observed her for a moment longer, and when she did nothing more than stay in that position, he decided that clearly she was waiting for him to do something.

Alright, fine. He would humor her.

Plastering a roguish grin on his face, Kumonryu meandered over to her, "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" His claws extended just a bit, but he otherwise looked completely natural. "You're about to enter the Bahari'mtoto, stranger. What brings you here?"
