Lu Ten had no really bothered to climb ranks. It'd been a long, long while since he'd been motivated to do much of anything, really, not that anyone was to blame for this other than himself. Daylight screwed with his senses and usually, when he was awake, most of the others were peacefully napping away, which left the blindingly white male two options; stay awake during daylight hours and suffer terrible headaches under the merciless sun's rays, or go to sleep and live when others were not around.
Unsurprisingly, he had picked option number two, which left him devoid of ambition for the most part. He lived his life, patrolled the land at night and slept the day away. Or well... tried to sleep the day away anyways.
Sometimes, a peculiar sound or a particularly defiant roar at the borders from a rogue would rouse him from his slumber and poke at his sense of curiosity enough for him to get up and pad out of his den to check things out. In fact, the snarl that woke him from slumber was almost... familiar in a way the large albino could not quite identify.
Mystified, he stoop and poked his head out of the den in the rock in time to see Tutankhamun rushing towards the border, "And where do YOU think you're going?" there came no answer but the scribble of the old pridelander's head and a wink, "Hey! Wait!" the idiot wasn't even a guard anyways, and should not be going towards the obviously aggressive sounds, "Tut! Where on EARTH are you going??"
"Huntin'!" came the reply finally, "C'mon! It sounds interesting! It's the most interesting sound I've heard all god damned moon!" that was good enough for Tut, who despite holding a hunter's rank... wasn't there out of lack of strength or talent, but just general boredom, to be fair. He could hold his own in the pits just fine, but... what was the point? There were no pretty girls after a good fight here - nothing to show for the spoils of war so why bother?
Chose your battles, father used to say. Or well, he figured he would have anyways - Tut didn't really know him all that well. At all, really. Shame.
When he got to the border of the pride, he wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, but a lioness the size of a rhino with a distinctly aggressive, bitter look in her eyes was really not it, "Holy crap."
Lu Ten was not far behind, and easily caught up with the other male, looking up to a sight he hadn't thought he'd ever see again, but even after so long he would have recognized that pelt, "Mother?" he was vaguely away of his friend turning his head sharply towards him, offering him a blank, opened mouth look of disbelief, and yet Lu could not tear his eyes from the lioness.

Boring was a pretty good word to describe how things had been in the pride of late. Azula didn't think she was asking for much, really. A scuffle, some in-fighting, a border dispute, honestly anything would be welcome at this point. Things had just been so...status quo lately.
Tutankhamun was usually on the lookout for something interesting, so it didn't take much to convince her to spend minimal energy hanging out with the male. She was lounging off the side, one eye closed, bemused over the fact that sadly it looked like today was just another one of those days, when she heard the distant roar. It didn't take long for Tut to cry out and lead the charge, so to speak.
Azula followed after without a second thought. She had a feeling in her gut this was going to be more than just hunting. Excitement pooled in her belly and she picked up the pace. She stopped abruptly next to Tut and was unable to keep a wide, toothy grin from her maw.
"Well isn't this a surprise?"

Azula snorted, ears perked and listening to the echos of her presence disappeared over the dunes. What ruffians would they send to fetch her, she wondered? Well- for their sakes, Azula hoped she found them satisfactory.
With how she's heard her sister's brilliant plan panned out, Azula was not in the mood to be incredibly forgiving if she found them lacking in any way whatsoever. In fact, she was betting on finding them unsatisfactory- she was betting on finding them just about any other way than as she did, when faces appeared, climbing over the dunes to inspect the border's intruder.
The first was about as she expected, earning a silent grimacing snarl the moment he appeared over the dune- he might have gotten an earful over how underwhelming she found him, as well, had the next face, and the face after his, not stolen the words straight from her mouth.
"Oh," Just like that, all the tension and aggression that tensed her body faded away as the large lioness bound forward, any complaints with the welcoming party forgotten and forgiven.
"My babies!" Azula damn near squealed as she collided with her children, a great purr ripping through her at the familiar scent, the familiar forms she nuzzled furiously into. It had been far, far too long- she loved her sister, but her children were something else entirely. She missed too much- she missed seeing them grow up, milestones of their lives, all washed away by time just as surely as she had been washed away by the flood.
She had a few moments of joy at her reunion with her precious babies when reality sank it's claws in once more, several realizations tugging at the back of her mind once more- several, in fact, that made her blood run cold with the thought of her bloodline mingling with such lowly creatures.
"Babies," She finally sighed, pulling back to stare lovingly at the faces of her now-grown children, "Momma loves you and cannot properly explain just how proud I am to see you grown and beautiful, but for my sanity, please," Her smile faltered, usual hard, aggressiveness seeping back into her limbs, "If there's any grandchildren I don't yet know about, do not tell me about them."
Dear goddess, if her children had accepted mingling with rebels and rogues, she didn't think her poor heart could take it. It was bad enough that Kenna saw fit to treat with them....

Still looking mildly bamboozled, Tut watched as the anger and aggression melted off of the lioness' features, replaces with warmth and kindness as she rather much catapulted herself forward to nuzzle his two friends. For his part, the ex-pridelander made a short sound in the back of his throat and stumbled back a small bit, "Mother?" he whispered, and only managed to catch Lu Ten's eye for just a moment, brief enough to confirm, "Wait, no, really?"
It wasn't that he didn't believe it - he'd heard the stories. He'd been around the pride long enough to know what had happened, but rumor had always been that this particular lioness... had died. After all, from the few conversations he'd had with Kenna, the old queen had always claimed that nothing short of death would have kept her sister away from her or her children.
He thus, watched enraptured as mother reunited with son and daughter.
Lu Ten for his part felt completely and entirely out of place, and after the initial tackle and almost instinctual first nuzzle, he pulled back and looked around. He even looked up and down and squinted his eyes something terrible because not only did the situation seem surreal, but he wasn't entirely convinced this wasn't an actual dream.
"You're not dreaming, mate."
The affirmation came from the half blood still sitting somewhere to his right as his mother finally pulled back away from them, and the first thing and only thing that poor Lu Ten could say was, "Oh..." a blink followed that as he turned to his sister for support and then back at his mother, and because he had no filter at the moment whatsoever, he blinked again, "Uhm... you might not... want to look too far into the pride, then mother" his mind still refused to jump start out of the blue screen of death, so he'd no idea how far he'd just shoved his own foot down his throat.
Tut on the other hand, had a pretty good idea, and snorted mildly "Is THAT what we're calling it now?"
