It was the middle of the day. Birds were chirping, the pride was bustling, her siblings were all outside.... and Miniya was in the corner of the entryway with her little black nose poking out the front.

Mini normally shadowed her father - people rarely tried to talk to the guy who snarked at them, and it was the perfect place to hide - but apparently he'd gotten sick of her stepping on his toes and knocking over things he'd just cleaned up. So Kione had sent his daughter out to play with her siblings.

.... Or he thought he had, anyway. Miniya was hovering by the doorway, too timid to step foot into the sunlight. Her ears were pulled back shyly against her head, almost disappearing into her mane, and she bit at her lip as she tried to will herself into walking up to them.

Not that she was afraid of her own litter mates, but... well, people were out there, and they always sat and cooed over them, and- and- and Miniya always clammed up whenever that happened. She groaned unhappily and sunk to the floor with a plop.

Feel free to include one cub, both cubs and/or Afya, and I can always toss in Kione if you want. biggrin Just decided to give Miniya some spotlight.

Femi was almost always seen with her twin. Even when the family played together, she found herself teaming up with her look-alike to bear down upon their foes and claim victory in all of the games! Right now, her pale brother Kabili had grown tired of losing. He was off crying in the corner, drawing an embarrassing amount of attention to himself. Their mother likewise did not have the patience to deal with Kabili's tantrum, and had left him to his own devices.

'Whatever.' The thought crossed her mind as Femi frowned. Disapproval was sketched onto her features, but she couldn't exactly get away with picking on Kabili while mom and dad were still lurking around. Femi turned away from the scene, deciding to head back into the den when she noticed a black-tipped nose poking from just inside the entrance.

Her frown turned into a smirk, and Femi trotted up to the entrance of the den. "Well, well, well, that's where you are!" Her dark sister seemed to be terribly shy, but that never bothered Femi. She was easy to pick on, and easy to win against in games. "Whatcha doing, Mini-mini?"

The cub was starting to consider braving her father again when her sister suddenly showed up. Letting out a squeak, Miniya ducked back into the den when she started talking. There was a moment of silence, and then the shy cub started extending her head out the door to look at her sister.

"F-Femi?" Uh-oh, one of her more mischievous siblings had found her. A quick glance around showed that Ingwenya wasn't here too, so that was a plus at least.

Pulling her front feet out as well to rest her head on, Mini looked up at her sister with wide purple eyes, "Just, um...." Her voice was quiet and soft, "... sitting here." It was a lame response, but better than admitting that she was too scared to go outside. Femi might poke fun at her if she knew that.

Laughter burst from Femi's lips when her sister squeaked with fright at her sudden appearance. If only her siblings had seen that! Stepping forward, her paws left the sun-touched grass behind her in favor of the cold stone floor of the family den. Their parents were clearly distracted, and since her games with her siblings had been temporarily suspended Femi needed something to do with her time.

Goofing off with Miniya seemed like a perfect suggestion, though she doubted her darker sibling would think so. "Well... that's fun," Femi answered her sister with an arch of her brow. She circled around to seat herself by Miniya's side, and nudged her shoulder against her sister's. "But we could be doing so many more fun things than this."

She tried, for a moment, to find enjoyment in just sitting around. But, it got boring very quickly and she could not understand how her sister would like such inaction. "C'mon, Mini. Mom and dad are distracted, let's sneak out on an adventure, huh?"

Miniya watched her sister warily as Femi sat down beside her, still a little bit suspicious, but she couldn't exactly tell her to go away. Besides, she liked it when her siblings cuddled up to her. Calm, quiet moments were one of her favorites.

And then Femi brought up her next suggestion.

Eyes opening wide, the black and white cub stared in abject horror at her sister. S-sneak out? But... but their parents would be so mad, and, and who knew what was out there. Mini sputtered for a moment, her words mostly unintelligible as she tried to voice these concerns. Unfortunately, she'd always been the pushover of her siblings, easily pressured into going along with their antics, and this was no exception.

In the end, nothing actually understandable came out of her, and instead, she just gave a tiny whine and burrowed a little bit into her sister's side.

There was a moment of silence, and then she whispered timidly, ".... What kind of adventure?" If she was going to get dragged into this, she'd at least like to know what she was getting into.

Femi expected some sort of struggle from Miniya. Her darling sister did not seem to be the most daring of the siblings, nor was she all that spontaneous. Miniya had to be eased into things, but Femi was not the sibling to play to her sister's needs. When she wanted to do something, she wanted to do it now. Either Miniya would come with her, or Femi would sneak out on her own to get into whatever trouble pleased her. "Come on, Mini, what kind of adventure is really all that fun when you know the destination?"

Her voice was soft and coaxing, but if her sister looked into her eyes she would see the mischief there. "We'll figure it out as we go along," she encouraged Miniya as she stood up onto her feet. She peeked around the corner of the den to make sure her mother was still distracted by Kabili. Their father was always easy to slip by, but their mother always seemed to know when her cubs were being mischievous.

"Good, let's go now before she notices us." Femi darted out of the den, her tail flicking Miniya in the face as she left her darker sibling behind. The cub hung tight to the den's outside walls, using it to shield her from view as she turned around a corner and out of sight.

All she could hear was her mother still scolding Kabili in the background. Good.

That wasn't very reassuring, but then, Miniya wasn't sure what kind of explanation she was expecting from her sister. Before she could so much as open her mouth though, Femi was disappearing out the doorway, flicking her tail in Mini's face on the way out. Nose scrunching, the cub let out a tiny sneeze, before flattening her ears against her head and following in a much more timid pace.

She bit her lip as she hugged the wall, eyes darting back and forth in slight fear as she listened for her parents. Femi was right though -- their father was in the den and their mother was clearly busy doing something or other with one of her other siblings. Kabili, she was willing to bet. Where Mini normally hung around Kione, Kabili tended to go to Afya.... mom Afya, not sister Afya.

Tail twined below her stomach, Miniya caught up to Femi and whispered, "N-now where to?"

Femi knew that when push came to shove, Miniya would join her in an adventure. If she left quick enough her sister wouldn't have enough time to think things through and properly resist the idea. So, when Miniya appeared behind her she was not surprised. "We're going to find some of the new rogues that joined our pride," Femi announced with a wicked smirk. She vaguely understood that her mother did not feel comfortable with all of the new rogues in the pride, but she did not get why.

All she knew was that if her mother didn't like it, she wanted to test those boundaries. "I hear there's a few in the Aguu family, so we should head to their dens." Not that she really knew the way by herself, but she was determined to try regardless.

Again, before Miniya could really protest to her sister's actions Femi took off. They had to leave the area before their mother or father realized that they were gone. Afya was distracted by Kabili, but the same couldn't be said about their father. If anything, he'd be the first to notice that two of his many cubs had disappeared. Femi and Miniya just needed to be far enough away that he wouldn't find them immediately.

Oh, this sounded like a terrible idea, she thought with a look of growing horror. "B-but! Fe-Femi-" There was no stopping her sister when she had an idea though, at least, not for Mini. Maybe if one of her other siblings were here, they'd talk her out of it, but not Mini.

She debated whether to run back to their parents, seriously tempted to take shelter with them, but Femi would never let her live it down if she did. In fact, she'd probably get her back for doing so... which sounded worse.

So with a whine and tail tucked between her legs, Miniya stumbled after her. "Wait f-for me!" This was going to go terribly.

The sound of laughter trailed after Femi as she ran away from the family den. She could practically feel Miniya trailing after her - after all, how could Miniya be so careless as to let her sister get into trouble without her? Femi knew that her mom had serious reservations about the rogues joining in the pride, and while Femi didn't quite trust them either... she wanted to push the boundaries. She was very young, and very reckless. Once her mind was made up, there was little anyone could do to sway her away from her decision.

"Well, then you better hurry up!" Femi challenged her sister, and the two quickly disappeared off into the distance.
