The stars had guided Niharika's paws once more, this time to a place that...smelled oddly like inhabited territory. But newly so. Frowning, the little cheetah skirted the edges of the area she'd found, ears back as she tried to determine whether it was safe to wander through, or find someone to ask for permission to wander through. She wasn't there to cause a scene; simply pass through, maybe hunt a little. She was a lone cheetah and didn't eat much, and maybe they'd be like that leopard colony and be seeking the pelts from her hunts! Oh she would be happy to share those!

Deciding she could outrun anyone who tried to cause her harm, she called out. "Hello? Is anyone out there?"

Das Tor

The borders appeared barren for some time. Although she walked, it seemed alone -- alone until a tall, lanky male jumped into view, dark mane shaking out before he regarded the female with no small amount of curiousity.

Paulecraine was no helpless male. A shinobi, the male was dutiful and hard working, watching the boirders for threats, and potential members, and this time, he sighted the latter. The cheetah was small, and highly fragile looking -- likely a rogue, so she wasn't unhealthy, but definately could afford good hunts and some time among others, and the male happily loped towards the dark cheetah with a rapid gait, humming.

"Hello. There is me, if that's what you're afraid of -- but you don't look dangerous to me."

Niha startled a bit when the lion seemed to come out of nowhere, hackles raising and ears going back until she realized he wasn't attacking. She coughed and forced herself to calm, looking more than a little embarrassed. "Ah...yes, hello. I'm not looking for trouble; as you said, I'm not dangerous. Simply a wanderer following the stars, my name is Niharika. I noticed this was claimed territory, so I thought it best to find someone to inquire about staying in the area a short bit. I can hunt for more than just myself if a trade is needed, and I'm more than happy to save any bits I can't eat for any crafters if you have them."

It had been some time since she'd come across a lion, and it was almost dizzying the difference in size between the male and herself. She was used to being small, but not that small.

"Of course guests are welcome." Paulecraine drawled patiently, rolling his eyes before settling. "That's not the difficult part. Leaving? That's up to you after you meet the pride."

Paulecraine hummed a bit, motioning towatrds the paths leading inward.

"The king doesn't really mind visitors, but do forgive the few numbers. Plague and all that. I'm new blood myself. Followed a rather pretty tail with my datemate."

And a pity she wasn't interested, before Paulecraine smiled. "Of couyrse, if you feel better with two big strong males, you can stay with Grinnaux and I, but Grinnaux is, well, forward with pretty girls."

She gave a polite bow, small smile on her muzzle. "I'm afraid I'm rather hard to tie to one place. The stars have been guiding my paws since I was small and still by my mother's side." Niha looked down the path he motioned, curiosity on her face. "I wouldn't mind seeing this pride, however. I love meeting new faces. I'm sorry you suffered losses, but I'm glad there are those like you who are willing to join, whatever the reason." She was amused with how forward he was. And his friend was even more forward? "I think I can deal with advances, so long as my 'no' is respected."

"Respected, yes. With a large dose of pouting." Paulecraine chuckld, shaking his head. He didn't understand this stars business -- but he was the first top admit a simple mindset towards most things.

Currently it was towards most things present, and the male motioned, humming.

"I know the pride has a view f the stars. But only outside."

"Well you aren't going to see the stars when you're inside a cave or such!" Niha couldn't help the giggle that escaped her. "You need to look up at the open sky. Though! I've heard tales that if you go deep enough into some caves, there are ways to see a different type of starry sky!" One day, she might try. One day. That was not such a day. "So, lead the way? Perhaps you can tell me more about this place?"

"Stars in caves? Sounds like something cavedwellers spin." Paulecraine shrugged, and moved towards the paths, motioning Niha along idly as he moved. The path itself was framed by lush life and stones; the trees a brilliant summer green and yellow-pink flower remains in the brush, and Paulecrain moved.

"Well, you'll wanna ask Yangu details. She's an old blood kojin, which I think means she looks for swag and then takes it into shrines. Dunno. But, apparently they accept creatures of all species there to work as a community. I'm still hazy, but then there's not much old blood around right now. Dead or ran off. There's a king too, then some broad he adopted. Again, unclear. Yangu kind of summed it up while Grinnaux and I was following her."

Then he coughed, pausing.

"Mind we'd have a bit much fermented fruit and plants by that point, so she might've also won some bet, the conniving s**t." Paulecraine sighed, rolling his eyes agaiun. He didn't mind Yangu, she was just... Well...

A sneaky s**t.

The cheetah couldn't help her laugh. "A bit much, hm? And how often do you two indulge in that~?" It was more than a little amusing, considering how some creatures acted when they were under the influence of such things. "I think we'll get along spectacularly while I'm here, you two and I." If only because it would be highly amusing for her, and she wasn't the sort to try tricking them out of anything, intentionally or otherwise. "Just try not to fall on your noses. It would make it rather hard for you to protect anyone if you did that."

"That's my secret." Paulecraine responded, coughing discreetly. It was the polite way of saying 'often' without being incriminating, and withoutr Yangu making an a** oif he or Grinnaux, a few creative truth-shares was safe enough. The male hummed, then snickered, glancing over.

"Grinnaux is a bit dumb, though, when he's a bit tipsy. He'llpick fights with anything. Idiot got into a fight with a rock once. Claimed it insulted his mother."

HOW a rock did that Paulecraine just didn't know.

Nor did he really want to. No sane male did. Grinnaux was just... Special.

"A rock? Well that had to be quite the show! Perhaps I might get to see such a thing, myself. And even if not, just the thought alone is something else!" She was content to not pry further, however. The scenery further into the pride was quite lovely to view, and there was something to be said for having a lion as a cheetah's escort! Nothing was going to be trying to munch on her!

"You'll see when you meet him." Paulecraine sighed. "Grinnaux is as dense as he is fetching, I'm afraid. A good male, but sometimes dumb as a rock."

Paulecraine moved calmly, motioning as they moved, and seemed content to let her think for the time -- take in the path. She'd see others soon enough, and while the walked down the path to the pride's main region, Paulecraine had no compulsion at all to ruin it whatsoever, instead thinking to the prospect of introducing to Niha to Grinnaux, and the only sign her was thinking was his tail as they disappeared over a ridge together... Paulecraine's tail lashing in the breeze.
