Just sitting in a room with a mindhealer was enough to put her on edge, had been putting her on edge for the past few months, but at the same time... for some strange reason... a part of her felt as if it was untangled each time as well. It was small and almost insignificant, barely the thickness of a piece of thread or a hair but at the same time enough that she could feel it being plucked from her. Laying all her secrets to bare was unsettling, all the pains and all the bullying, it wasn't as if she wanted to relive them time and time again, but that was what the mindhealers wanted her to do, to open up about them.
Much like every other time she was leaving this session exhausted, both mentally and physically, but unlike before she had her small blue beside her this time rather than asleep. It had been an effort to keep Gaerdalth calm as his emotions could often overwhelm her anyway if he wasn't careful, but with the mindhealer he had been angry, upset that she was upset and that their bond was shivering a bit. It had settled back down though, but the very act of feeling that, of having the people around her that kept prodding...
Tikallie shook herself out a bit and placed a hand on her blue's back, happy that he was getting large enough for her to lean against if she had to but still somewhat upset that he was so large he'd outgrown her being able to sling flower necklaces around him with ease. Just the light touch of her fingers had Gaerdalth humming happily and his eyes turning a blueish purple color of joy, slowly he tilted his head back to peer at her and came to a stop when he saw her face. It'll be okay, they're working to help but they need to find the source and it's buried deep down. You just have to open up a little more than you are right now and it will be fine, I'm always here to protect you mine and I'm not going anywhere. As he spoke he turned around to press his head against her forehead gently and gave a happy noise as her hands ran up the sides of his small head. While their initial impression and bond had been very shaky it was solidifying as they got their legs beneath them.
"It hurts..." Tikallie whispered to him, not moving her head or her hands as she ran them up to the small knobs at the back of her blue's head. "But... I'll try for you."
Good, I'll be here to support you no matter what happens, but nothing bad will happen as long as we work together. Gaerdalth spoke gently to her, knowing full well she needed the reaffirmation at a time like this. If we go down to the beach maybe we can find some nice shade for you to chain up flowers in? Would that help a bit?
Slowly she pulled away so that she could nod and he cast a snorting breath across her white hair, blowing her bangs back from her face so that her slim brown eyes crinkled in amusement.

The way down to the beach was easy, she and her little blue had gone down that path, gone down to the beach, so many times since they'd Impressed and come to live at Western alongside their fellow weyrlings. Not that they were training alongside them yet and Tikallie felt fully responsible for that, if it weren't for her Gaerdalth wouldn't be so far behind all of his siblings, every other dragon in the Weyr really, at least in terms of how to train and how to fight thread and... well everything about being a dragon. The pair of them had learned the absolute basics that they'd needed to survive and to have the blue dragon grow. He had been so skinny the first few months that she'd had him, far more concerned about her than he was about himself that he wouldn't eat for worry, but now he was filling out and it showed as she watched him walk beside her.
As the toes of her feet touched sand the small girl took a deep breath and let it out, which earned her a loving snort from her dragon. If I can't hear your exhalations then you know that you still haven't fully found your voice yet. It's okay to speak in something other than a whisper from time to time. Gaerdalth cast a swirling purple gaze at her once more, for there was none that he would ever love more than he did the small girl who covered him in flowers and he trotted a bit ahead of her towards a nice patch of shade beneath a tree. It was some ways back from the water itself, which irritated him a bit as he would have loved to stick his tail in the cool waves, but he wasn't here completely for himself in this moment and the small blue was more than willing to recline where his wouldn't be so burnt.
The swiftness of his movements towards the tree had Tikallie all but scuttling to follow after him, glad for once that she wasn't prone to being clumsy as the burning sands could have tripped her up easily and sent her sprawling. Safe under the tree she nestled into her dragon's side and started to pull flower after flower from the pockets of her dress, holding each of them up into the light before starting slowly to twist them together. They had been down at the bathing pits earlier the day before, sanding Gaerdalth's skin before oiling it up so he could withstand the next stage of his little growth spurts, as she hoped her would certainly have more of them and become the big protector that he was already for her, and in doing so he'd lost the necklace of flowers that she'd painstakingly made for him. It had been her longest one yet! She'd have to work harder to make another one and the thought process running through her mind was leaning towards concern for having enough flowers when... she heard something?
A long blue tail coiled about her legs and her dragon lifted his head from where he'd laid it upon the sands, looking up above them curiously rather than in anger as another dragon flew overhead towards the water's edge. While he was more than happy to call out a greeting, he restrained himself as he caught the motions of his rider rubbing sand against her pale face, hoping apparently for it to cover up some of the scars that were abundant all over it. He's a large brown, but it doesn't appear that he means any harm, he and his rider are likely here for the same reasons as we.
"He's... very big." Tikallie offered by way of a faint whisper, still rubbing at her face with the sand until she felt there was enough residual dust covering up her features that they might not be viewed negatively. "Good?"
Two hearts broke in the little blue's chest for his rider's worries, but Gaerdalth nodded his head all the same and affirmed that it was indeed covering her concerns well. He could only hope that she wouldn't need to do such a thing to herself forever, that she would accept it as part of her that was still worth love.
Nilah44 It's perfect. <3 Sorry for the wait dear.

Generally Gaerdalth wasn't used to other humans other than the mindhealers reaching out to him or talking to him, for he didn't usually have much concern for anyone outside of his rider and maybe one large brown dragon.... for his own reasons of course. Very different from his contact with his beloved rider. Turning his small head towards the redhead that was walking over towards him, the small blue lifted the wing that had been folded against his stomach and stretched it out over the small ball of his rider where she had coiled into him tighter, forming a cover for her. While she had covered up the scars on her face with all the dust that sand could offer, he wasn't entirely open to letting her be scared by the arrival of a rider all the same. So while he did that he peeked his head down and nuzzled at Tikallie's back questioningly. Her hands ran over his stomach softly, feeling the softness from the washing and oiling she'd given him and taking a deep shuddery breath as she nodded her consent shyly.
Of course I wouldn't mind, but if you would be so kind as to come around slowly, there's someone on this side that's very shy. Warmth radiated from Gaerdalth's voice as he slid it into both the mind of his rider and the newcomer, eyes swirling bright greens and blues as he looked at the woman approaching. She's still getting used to the presence of others, so please be kind if you don't mind. he added for the woman alone, a bit more stern though no less warm.
Swallowing and shivering against him the little girl tugged at her hair and tried to avoid covering her face with it entirely, the mindhealers had told her that wasnt the best way to greet others, as people liked to see other's faces so they could gauge a reaction. So it was that Tikallie turned two huge reddish-brown eyes on the new woman as she came near, tears of fear edging at the edges of her vision but she blinked them back shakily so that they didn't stream down her face and do away with the dust that she had covered it in. "Hi........" she whispered, looking down very quickly at her hands and trying to twist together the stems of the flowers in her lap to distract herself.
It's okay mine, she seems respectful and nice, she'll be safe around you and if she's not nothing bad will happen as long as I'm with you. Gaerdalth spoke to her softly, reaching down to nuzzle at her hair with the end of his small nose. Reaching one skinny arm up, Tikallie wrapped it around behind his headknobs and tried to ease the slight tremor that had begun to rattle her.
