Hessianth was as eager as ever - and at nearly 28 feet long, it was almost impossible for L'nik to loop an arm around the brown's neck to keep him from going wherever he wanted without some consent. The pair had made some very loose plans for the afternoon to head out to enjoy the beach and let his bonded stretch out his wings. Things had started to crop up, delaying said plans more and more into the afternoon, however, and it was well past afternoon lessons for the new hatchlings when Hessianth had finally had enough of waiting.
Enough of these chores and work! You are fed! We are not called on anymore! We're going! he protested, shoving his head up against his chosen's chest with enough force to nearly knock the young man over, had L'nik not reached out to grab onto him. We'll get in trouble, you know. not that it was ever much of a deterrent, but L'nik reminded his lifemate anyways. The dragon almost seemed to laugh at the notion. Then let us get in trouble!
His mind was set, and even without L'nik in his straps, he began to walk off towards the beach on his own, his rider nearly having to run to keep up with him. Oh no, there would be no stopping him! There were other things to do than just what he was told to!

Candidacy with one less friend in the barracks was strange, and it was a strangeness he was having some trouble getting used to, if he had to be honest (although he wasn't, to anyone but himself). He was a sociable young an, more than capable of making all the friends a person could possibly want, but now all his closest friends had dragons. Which was fine! He was thrilled for them, and there was truly no jealousy in his heart, but it was just a little lonely, some days. Not that he never, ever saw them, but they had separate schedules, growing dragons to tend to, and no end of lessons to learn.
In his own little slice of free time before dinner, Rio had determined that his thoughts were getting far too melancholy than would do, and that the most effective available cure was a healthy dose of sunshine and the sound of waves. And of course, the water was much too tempting to just sit and look at, and he'd sat his shirt and boots aside while he want for a swim. He was floating contentedly in shallow water when a very large, dark-winged shape caught his attention. He was quick to right himself, although his footing wobbled, and he just barely saved himself from toppling over into the waist-deep water.
Oops. He grinned, unperturbed, and waved. "Hessianth! L'nik!"

Oh. Oh there was company here! On the one claw, Hessianth would have much enjoyed to not have to share his lifemate's attention. On the other hand, the absolute joy the boy had upon finding familiar faces there with him made the brown reconsider. Company would be...alright. The dragon offered no greeting, eyes whirling between green, blue, and yellow as he considered the young man in the water.
Then he suddenly reeled, turning back to see what had just assaulting his tail! He flicked his tail back and forth, if to see the little while would chase after it, when instead he went bounding off to the water. Huff!
L'nik patted the brown's large side with a hand as he offered a wave out towards Rio. "Rio! Good afternoon! Is the water alright?" he asked, though it did seem to be...alright, if the other man was already half naked in it. He was halfway out of his own shirt when Baihath's pounce alerted him to another person.
Oh boy, he was giving Alya and Rio a strip show. Ah..haha. "Alya! Hey!" he offered a grin as he attempted to smother out the small pout that Hessianth was attempting. "Here to swim?"

Ah, but they had even more company! Much, much smaller than Hessianth, but just as hard to miss. Rio laughed at the sight of Baihath pouncing on the brown's tail, because that was absolutely precious, and also because he was incredibly happy to see two (four?) of his favorite weyrlings in the same place at once.
"It's perfect!" he called back, but before he could say anything more, Baihath was coming at him, and he knew exactly how that was going to end if he wasn't careful, so he braced himself and stooped down a bit to catch the charging white - hopefully without going spluttering into the water, but that remained to be seen. "Baihath! C'mere, little buddy~"
The white was a lot bigger than he had been, but definitely still qualified as little, especially with Hessianth nearby for comparison.

Oh my. Alya paused to appraise both young men before her, her smile widening a fraction as L'nik greeted her. He'd certainly gotten more muscled, hadn't he? And Rio had never not been pleasing to look at...
Confused by the sudden, strange thoughts from his bonded, Baihath stumbled mid-run, his eyes streaking with yellow as he turned to look at his rider. What was this?
Oh! Alya immediately abandoned any thought of boys, her reassurance surging forth to envelop Baihath protectively. He was the only boy she could love with her whole heart! The little dragon's eyes went bright blue once more, and he twisted back around to happily finish the romp toward Rio. Hi! He warbled, and, carefully using his tail to ground himself, raised himself up on his hind legs to rest his forelimbs on Rio's shoulders!
"Careful! Don't knock him over!" She scolded, kicking her sandals off before wading in the surf. "L'ink, Hessianth," Alya greeted, her eyes wandering over the brown. "Goodness, but you're becoming even more of a prime specimen than before, Sir Brown!"

Alya knew exactly the note to play to Hessianth's ego, and he puffed out his chest a little, seemingly very pleased she had noticed. Though if he was, he didn't tell her. While some dragons were more than happy to chat it up with others, Hessianth belonged only to L'nik, and the boy vice-versa. Their channel was private as far as he was concerned. The young woman still received a soft creel of appreciation.
Oh sure, I tell you how great you are and I don't get anything like that L'nik ribbed gently at his lifemate, clearly teasing. Hessianth shoved him mentally with a bit more oomph than he'd give any of his siblings.
"He's glad you noticed," he informed Alya, watching as Baihath greeted Rio with fervor. It was hard to think that his brown - already out-sizing some of the smaller greens and blues - was ever that small.
He tossed his shirt down with his boots to wade into the surf, clearly over whatever trouble he'd been concerned they were going to get into at this point. It wouldn't have been the first time he had been in trouble, and not the last time Hessianth would get them both into it.
"He's going to get as big as you are here before too long!" L'nik noted to Rio, watching the white as he balanced against the young man. If they weren't all careful, Baihath would be bigger than all of them before too long.

Rio watched with curiosity as Baihath stumbled and looked back at Alya, but as he soon resumed his run, didn't find it overly concerning. Who knew what the pair might be talking about? He was glad that Baihath, at least, was talkative - if he were as jealous with his words as Hessianth, then the young man might actually feel a bit left out. But the little white, fortunately, was quite talkative, so he wasn't entirely excluded from the dragon portion of their circle of friends.
"Good afternoon!" he replied sunnily, wrapping his arms around the dragonet in a hug, before hefting just so to lift him up. He was getting heavy, and it would be a task to carry him far or for any length of time, but just standing it was...doable. More or less. There was definitely a risk of toppling over, with the uncertain sandy footing, but it was a totally acceptable risk!
"He's going to be a big boy," Rio agreed with a laugh. "It's a good thing you didn't hatch this size, huh? My ribs would still be sore!"
He would have been admiring the view himself, but he was busy.

"Of course you will be!" Granted, Rio had little reference or experience when it came to how big a hatchling would get to be once it wasn't, well, a hatchling, but if Baihath wanted to be the biggest white that ever was, you could sharding well bet that Rio would support that. Of course, if he'd wanted to be a small white, that would have been just as acceptable. What kind of uncle would he be otherwise?!
"I'm sure you wouldn't have!" Although he added, in a conspiratorial whisper, "It would have been fine, though." He really didn't care that he had been sore and covered in sand after, and if he'd been more sore, that would have been okay, too. Baihath had hatched safely and happily, and Impressed Alya besides, and that was all that mattered.
Although it was difficult not to be at least peripherally aware of Hessianth and his bulk, Rio hadn't exactly expected the brown to take a running leap into the water. The resulting waves swayed him a bit far to one side, and with his arms full of baby white dragon, well...toppling suddenly became a very real possibility.
