Quote:
As Spring rolls into Summer in Tendaji it appears that something is not as it should be. In fact, strange and unpredictable weather is happening all across the world. Strong storms, bizarre heat waves, unheard of snow storms, floods, and other similar events are happening in all of the countries. Some are superstitious, seeing it as a warning of great evil, others blame the Dretch, some shrug it off as a freaky incident, and others ignore that it's even such an oddity.

However, one thing is certain - all the lands are dealing with these weird weather outbreaks in their own way. How are you handling matters? Do you try to help others, are you too focused on yourself, or do you want to try and find answers for the causes behind these recent events? Or did you get caught out in the disaster yourself and these are your memories of how you had to fight against the odds to get to safety?

Basically this is a solo (or a rp with a friend) to write out how your character is being affected by these strange occurrences in Tendaji.

It usually took a lot to place Jhin in a foul mood. Normally the man would have the patience of a saint, the perseverance of a determined warrior, a heart of gold, and such other similar qualities that one gained while raising a horde of younger cousins who constantly demanded attention and stirred trouble. However, it seemed that the gods were mocking him lately and constantly throwing his path in the way of another. Someone who was the equivalent of all of his cousins in one, if not more so. His teal eyes flickered to the side as he pondered his family and how well the Matori near him could fit into place. If by the gods they did end up getting thrown together more often Jhin made a note never to take her to Sauti with him. He didn't know if he would be able to survive such a meeting - he didn't even know if the tribe could handle it either. It's best to avoid tragedies then.

Speaking of tragedies...the archer sighed as he glanced upwards. It seemed that since they had been separated from their respective groups that the weather was against them. The skies had turned a horrendous shade of gray which were so dark and miserable to the point that one could barely see if there was any linings between the clouds anymore. No sunlight flickered through, just a gray sky of nothingness. At first he hadn't thought much of it but now that it had been pouring rain nonstop for the past two days Jhin was finding himself concerned. His aunt had mentioned once before that there was the rare danger of the river swelling and flooding the areas nearby but Jhin had pushed such worries aside. It never rained that much save for in early spring and by then the people were prepared - many moving their tents and homes uphill or digging trenches and lining them with things to prevent the water from overflowing into the valley.

It definitely was worrisome to see the rains pelting the grounds around them. It was also disorienting because the constant showers and storms made it very hard to track others and Jhin wasn't even certain if they were on the right path anymore. And if they did meet up with the caravan what would he do? Drop Solari off to their mercy? Why had he even taken her away from the scene in the first place? The archer sighed quietly under his breath as he stared more at the rain from beneath the canopy of the giant tree that they had taken a break beneath. Leave it to me to let a pretty face distract me from my duties... But no one else could distract him so, it was always her. His gaze lowered and the man twisted his fingers thoughtfully before shoving the thought quickly away. That was far more trouble than it was worth, "If the rains ever let up we can find the lower paths and get to the nearest village, but at this rate I'm afraid they may be covered in water before we can leave this forest..." He commented out loud without looking at her as he instead opted to stare towards the sky and the offending rains.

One would think that the rain would be bothersome, and examining Jhin's expression Solari would have to take a guess that he hated growing darkness above them. For Solari though, the thought of it raining actually made her happy.

Rainy days meant she could spend them inside and do nothing. Probably nap all day long and relish in the thought that no one could force her to do anything. She was also not expected to go anywhere or be social, and she didn't even have to get out of bed if she didn't want to. What more could a girl ask for? If anything in this particular instance it meant they didn't have to keep walking through the damn forest and could just find some shelter and sit around and do nothing. Solari was looking forward to it even if it was with him.

"How about he we just find shelter and settle for now? If we wait around too long, we'll lose the little light we already have and I don't really want to trek around in the dark in the rain." Surely he could see this was the sensible plan. Solari was hoping he'd want out of the rain much sooner and this would make him pick getting to shelter and just staying there.

Solari gave a look around to a few of the large trees they'd clustered next to. "We might be able to find some nice high ground and shelter under the roots of the trees. Maybe even build a fire." She was getting hungry too. She glanced at his bow and enjoyed the idea of them hunting down something large for food and cooking it over the fire. The thought made her mouth water and her stomach grumble in low protest. She placed her hand over it.

"We'll also need to find some food." She let her others choice words die behind her closed lips. She'd had plenty of supplies back at camp but that wasn't an option.

Jhin's gaze slipped towards Solari thoughtfully, "So we find shelter and I sleep on my belongings then?" He quipped lightly, a bit of a tease but a bit of apprehension about his feelings that were in constant conflict when it came to the Matori. He glanced towards the dreary sky hoping that surely the gods would be merciful and stop the rain right now so that he could usher them forward and get back to the rest of the rangers. However it appeared that would not be the case today and Jhin sighed, "Still you're right. Not only that but we could get sick if we stay in this cold rain any longer. If we head towards the north surely we can find some form of shelter away from the lower lands." The worst idea would be to sleep to the south where the rivers ran. If they slept near that area then he would be afraid that they would be waking up in the middle of a river instead of a forest.

"The trees are larger the further we go into the forest." He stood and brushed dirt from his pants, "I know the paths through the ancient woods and those roots will be large enough to create a shelter for us." She was fortunate that he was trained with the rangers. Any other earthlings could get lost for days in the ancient forest with some never seeing the light of day again while others fell to the beasts which resided there. Jhin, however, was fairly confident in his ability to guide and to defend them both. And with how the rains were falling it seemed like the safer option, as odd as that seemed.

As he strode past Solari the slight grumble of her stomach made him pause and with one last sigh Jhin reached into his pack and taking his hand out tossed a small tied cloth towards her, "Since we have to travel quickly before it gets too dark you can have that." His rations for the trip...a chunk of cheese, some honey-oat bread, nuts and dried strips of meat. It had been meant to last him on the journey back to the ranger's guild but that was the least of his worries as he motion for Solari to follow him towards the northern areas of forest.

Well, it wasn't like she enjoyed the idea of spending the night in the rain under a tree with a stranger. Even if he was starting not to be that much of a stranger in her life anymore. Which is why she only replied to his tease with a small smile of her own. He wasn't all that bad and really he hadn't pushed her to do anything except to leave the bandits behind. She couldn't even be mad about that anymore becaue he'd pretty much saved her. Perhaps the gods had put him in her path to keep her safe?

Solari gave him the once over, unsure now what to think of her companion. Was she so self destructive that the gods were trying to save her? And who was she to spit in their face with such an opportunity? But more importantly why did the gods even care... Or maybe her mind was just playing some tricks on her and she was trying to find a reasonable explanation to why she was always ending up with this guy.

His words about sickness brought her back down to reality and kept her from chasing incredulous thoughts. "I'm sure we'd both rather not get sick, otherwise we'll have to carry the other." While she was sure he could carry her with some ease, she was in no position to help him if he got sick.

She stood too when he did, checking her butt to make sure it wasn't dirty and run a hand over it to get anything off if there was. "I'll follow your lead then. Do you think we have very far to go?" The longer they got rained on the more so they'd get wet and sick. Making a shelter or even a fire was going to be a pain Solari wasn't really looking forward to. ah well, if she actually wanted to live then she was going to have to at least give herself the minimum even if it was going to be some work on her end.

She was following him out when he turned around and caught her by surprise. Her hands went out to grab the item and she caught the small package. She gently took it apart and stared at the contents. Her eyes grew big and she stared at his back. Her cheeks reddened a bit, that was awfully nice of him. About as nice as anyone had ever been to her and she hadn't even given him a reason to be nice to her either. He was really selfless wasn't he? It made Solari smile and genuine smile, like someone had given her a secret and she cherished it.

She made a resolve not to give him trouble on the journey and at least try a little harder not to be a pain. "Thank you." She said softly, but loud enough for him to hear before she grabbed the meat and wrapped the rest and followed after him. She would save some and share with him later on.
