Neltharion did not stay long in any one place. The world was ever full of strife. War and distrust, conflict. Hate. His molten, weeping body decayed so slowly, but still it decayed. The constant buffet of mortal hatred prolonged the time he had, building his strength to white-hot levels, and he roved the whole of Africa to dine upon it like a feast set just for him.
The one place he did fairly often return to was Ubuge's den, wherever that was. Even if she moved it, he'd never had a problem finding it. The Goddess of Greed drew many things to her, after all.
Today he wasn't looking for her though. No, he'd been on the trail of a certain lion of late. A lion that hated his brother, for this or that reason. Some aspiring king, relegated to second in line? Or a jealous lover, who lost his mate to his own brother? Or simply a disparity of personality? It didn't matter to Neltharion. He'd stalked the brothers for days, letting his innate hateful aura leech into them, until at least they'd come to vicious blows, each driven to slay the other. When both had at last lay dying, each still hating the other for their fate, refusing to the end to forgive each other, he'd moved in for his meal. That was how Ubuge would find him, up to the jowls in one or the other of the brothers, the crunch of bones cracking and the reek of smoldering flesh filling the air.

It said something that the scent of another god didn't catch his attention instantly. Something about the amount of time they'd spent together, and his familiarity with her scent. If it was any other deity, he'd have been ready to hunt, to kill, at the first sniff. But not this one. Damn female. She'd gotten under his skin, in enough small ways that he'd allowed her to draw up close before even bothering to look away from his feast.
"Allllways wanting something." He sunk his maw back into the gory mess, crunching bones with a snap. As an almost afterthought he swatted the spare corpse her way. A meal or an accessory. It didn't matter to him. He fed in truth on the mortals' actions and emotions, and the meat did little for him. It was his nature to devour though. To revel in the feast.
the fact that she'd settled in didn't go unnoticed. She clearly had something or other to say. To ask him for, probably. And why had she come to find him? The goddess usually summoned him to her, not the other way around. If the god had held the capacity for attachment, for anything even near friendliness or love for what was effectively the closest thing he had to a mate, he might have worried that something was wrong. But he felt none of those things, and so he simply continued his meal unabated.

Ubuge smiled lightly as she watched him. He really was a glorious beast, how she adored watching him consume anything in his path. She supposed in a way he had consumed her too, she was obsessed with him, with the thought of him belonging to her.
The carcass that came flying her way was a welcomed gift but she let her eyes fall away from it. His words didn’t sting her in the least. Of course she wanted more, she wanted everything. It was her true being, she was the personification of her domain. She was greed. He understood her, the gifts he brought her were special, he always fetched her the best things. Today though she was bringing him something special.
She settled herself in to a lounging position, close enough to the proffered carcass that she could play with the soft mane, she would enjoy skinning the carcass, or perhaps she would request her hates help. “I have something special for you too.” She purred, her eyes fixed squarely on the giant black body, her lips turned in a smirk. She carried many things with her, perhaps he would think she was fetching him a material gift, she was of course bringing him something much more exciting.
Their union had finally taken seed they would be parents soon. Their little hellions would soon be released on to the world. She really didn’t know how she was keeping the secret, she wanted to tell him as swiftly as possible but now she was here, she wanted his full attention, which meant she had to wait for him to finish his meal, which was annoying but she had waited this long, hunted him down and accepted his offering. She could wait a moment longer.
