Shetani kept silent for the moment, as she walked up to where Kat and Ashiki were situated. She could hear Ebbe approaching behind her, but only spared him a glance before moving back to stare at the mysterious group.

This was certainly a conundrum. The Outlanders had only recently returned here, but with everyone trickling in as they were, she supposed that it shouldn't have been surprising that someone took notice. Whether they were here on business or by coincidence, only time would tell.

To her, it was highly unlikely that they were going to pick a fight. They would have to be very brave or very stupid to pick a fight with the entirety of the Outlands. They had been forced out of their lands once before - they were not about to allow that to happen again.

But what could be their purpose then? Shetani pondered this as Kat addressed Ebbe.

The wistful look on the pale lioness' face made Siri wonder what it was like before this place had been abandoned. Surely it had once been a place of strength and power as he had heard, but why had it failed? He supposed he would learn in time.

"Yes, I've just joined," he said with a little nod of his head. "I have lived in the rogue lands most of my life and heard stories of Taka from various creatures. He sounded like the kind of lion I aspired to be when I was younger, so I thought it would be fitting to come to this pride and see if I could succeed here."

Dala nodded, giving the male a little grin. She felt like she'd fit in well here and so far there was at least one fellow member she knew she'd be able to talk to.

"What brings you here?" she asked, curious about the reasons other newcomers had for joining the pride. "I've heard many reasons for returning and for joining so I'm interested to see where you fall on the spectrum."

She sat herself down as well, glad she had found someone willing to chat.

Realizing she wasn't going to get answers any time soon, Zawadi sat down, curling her tail around her as she watched the pride's key players wind their way out of the crowd. Something was going on, she just wasn't sure what - she hoped it was good news rather than bad, but like Ajani had mentioned, Katiti's flock would not have interrupted this occasion were it avoidable. If it was bad news, Zawadi wished it were not too bad - she had not yet had her first duel with one of the pride's Claws to prove her commitment to building herself up, bettering herself for the pride. She presumed that she would make a fool of herself in that first fight - something she didn't want to execute in front of the entire pride if there was a situation where she needed to help fight.

That strain of thought led to another, and Zawadi began daydreaming of her first duel. She wondered with whom it would be, and mostly how terrible of a state she might be in after a loss. Although, beginner's luck was on her side...

Eva faded back into the conversation as Siri spoke, and then smiled widely. "Well, I'm sure you'll succeed! Anyone like Taka, or well," she cocked her head to the side, "anyone who aspired to be like him, will fit in great!" She grinned then, nothing if not optimistic.

She paused as she noticed Ajani wandering about the crowd - a strange sight as he was normally either hidden off to the side or next to his sister - and another quick glance had her noting the queen's viziers leaving. She wondered why that was, before shrugging it off and turning back to Siri. Whatever was happened, it clearly didn't involve her, and she wasn't about to pry.

"I'm Evadne, by the way! Or Eva. Sometimes people just call me that."

Ashiki
In what felt like too little time, the Queen and her viziers were privy to the sight of Amachwane returning with the group in tow and a bit of speed in their step. It immediately made her suspicious as to what their goals were here and what they had convinced her second son of. She cast her gaze over her shoulder at Ebbe quickly.

"Please greet them before they are too close to the pride." And by the sound of her voice, she did not intend for him to greet them alone. In fact, as her eyes left him and found Shetani instead, her addendum followed: "you as well, Shetani. They will not go unescorted through the lands with any fewer than three to a single of their persons."

With her word spoken, Ashiki turned her gaze back out across the lands and settled the acidic green eyes on the group that came closer and closer and closer.

Azzan & Khethiwe
With his eyes on the Queen and Ebbe, who looked like he was about to descend, Azzan felt the unease gnawing at his stomach grow more and more until it was threatening to consume him. All thoughts of Chau or Katiti or anyone else vanished as he edged himself toward the Crown Prince where he stood, waiting his next order.

"C'mon," he mumbled to the other orange male as he passed, not bothering to ask politely. The younger male clearly wasn't as comfortable in his own skin as Azzan or his mother yet. Khethiwe almost looked relieved to have a command to follow and without complaint, he joined his cousin as the pair moved closer to the back of the crowd, vying to be the firsts on the ground to see what was coming.

Telal
The young cub clung to his mother, releasing a peel of laughter - just before a pair of orange males pushed passed them with a very serious looks on their face. In fact, almost all the adults around him seemed very suddenly serious? His cub's bravery died immediately and he curled tighter to his mother's body out of uncertainty over what to do next.

"Can we go back to the den?" he whispered very softly into his mum's ear, eyes wide and full of concern.

Aithne & Delphi
"Shhh," Delphi muttered to the Firekin at her side, who immediately took a look of mock-offense but let it die. Aithne's eyes rose to follow where Delphi's were staring - in the direction Azzan had disappeared and the Queen's Claw was soon to follow.

"What do you think is happening?" Aithen murmured low, for Katiti's ears alone.

"I don't know," the dark female replied, "but I bet we're about to find out."

(For what happens next, please skim the CYOA storyline!)

(This post follows the CYOA storyline and should be considered a finale to this ORP)

As the rogue group was escorted from the center of the pride lands by Amachwane and a few of their best claws with their rescued cub in tow, Ashiki turned to face the group that had gathered around her. She had come down to intervene in the ruckus and stood now shoulder-to-shoulder with the lions that would rebuild her family's heritage. It was a thrilling notion to finally look them all in the eye, one-by-one, and know that they were here for the same purpose.

"In honor of our return to the lands of my ancestors, I have decided that we shall celebrate this momentous occasion with a two week dueling festival! Unbranded, gather your strength if you wish to become more than what you are," her face was alight with pride and honor as she addressed them, "and the rest of you had best show this foolish world what it means to be a member of the Ukuhlwa Izwe."

The Queen let her words die and lowered her head in dismissal before she turned. Then after only a couple of steps she paused for one last detail.

"If you have questions, please address Ebbe or Kethiwe."

The Crown Prince's eyebrows rose a little at the words but she only laughed under her breath and retreated to her den, leaving her Claw and her Heir to see to their festival."

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lapse in my attention: life got a bit hectic right around the time of the event closing. Regardless, I wanted to thank all of you that participated! It has been a pleasure to see so much attention for our Outlands reboot.

Second, we will be having a two week dueling contest where you may earn double points (much like during the dueling contest). I would like for all my founding members to earn as many points as possible and establish themselves as 'seasoned veterans' so to speak! I will be opening up the dueling claims thread after this post. smile

Shetani bowed her head at Ashiki's words, before turning to Ebbe with a grin. "Well, let's go see what our guests are doing so far into our lands." Then, with a flick of her tail, she began stalking away.

((aaaaand after the CYOA part))

She was back amongst the festivities once more, after that whole debacle was taken care of. Shetani snorted as she recalled how it went. Idiots, the lot of them. You would think they would know better than to pick of a fight with a pride in their pride lands, but whatever. They were well on their way to being escorted out now.

The black lioness turned her attention to the Queen as she began speaking, the crowd around her buzzing with excitement and pride, and then smirked. A dueling festival, huh? Well, that was a great way to flesh out the pride.

In the meantime though, she wanted to track down her brother. Said male was skulking at the back of the crowd once more, something that had her rolling her eyes.

"Oh Ajani, this is a celebration. Come, let's mingle with others." She ignored the scowl he threw at her, turning away. She knew he'd follow. He always did.
