The small blue made his way across the heated sands, occasionally darting and nipping at the blue water that lapped across the dry sands. S’tar nestled himself on a rock, tucking his knees up to his chin as the pale eyes looked across the water if almost in a dream state. His mind was elsewhere, thinking about days that had long past, days where he used to lay among the tall grass at night and stare at the stars that glittered in the darken sky. The outstretched hand pointing to a group giving the name, the shape of what they were suppose to be and the story behind their significance in the broad expansion of sky.

You are going to burn if you sit out in the sun. The voice echoed in his head as he glanced over at the familiar blue gazing at him. Giving him a weak smile he shrugged.

”I’ll be alright for now.” The response earned him a snort as the dragon laid down into the cool water, the waves bouncing along the side of his body. I’ll remind you to move later then.

S’tar just simply nodded as he gazed back out at the water, losing himself into thought again.

J'lar was amazed at how quickly the dragonets had grown. Already his beloved Loreleth was too large to carry, and that meant having to encourage the blue to move quickly to any destination. Too often the chubby dragonet would get distracted, or grow upset, or overwhelmed by some sad piece of news, and he'd all but fall to pieces. This meant going anywhere was always a bit of a challenge, but thankfully, J'lar was a patient man.

Though others might not believe the sensitive baby was getting better, J'lar knew that Loreleth was making solid improvement. In fact, though his eyes were almost perpetually grey, he found the blue growing more resilient to bad or sad news. "Come on now, the water isn't too far," he encouraged.

It was a rest day for the weyrlings, and with mild weather in store for the continent -- something unusual for the man, who was accustomed to harsh High Reaches winters -- the beach had looked inviting. Loreleth was keen to swim, but the man could feel the anxiety radiating off the delicate soul. It is an awful long way, isn't it? The words were spoken tenuously, though the pudgy blue dragon continued to plod along after his rider. He stayed as close to J'lar as he could, never really enjoying being far.

"We're more'n halfway there," the brown haired man replied. "Not too far at all."

Step by step, the two slowly made it down to the beach. Everything was mostly quiet, but there was another blue rider pair -- at least, he assumed the rider staring off in the distnace was bonded to the blue in the water. J'lar didn't recognize either, but faces in Western Weyr were still very new to him; he hardly knew anyone outside of R'hin. Perhaps it would be good for Loreleth to meet others outside of his clutch? Perhaps it would be good for himself, too? While he wasn't as much of a hermit as he had been before Impression, J'lar still wasn't exactly the most out-going.

He could already feel Loreleth's anxiety grow as the little blue realized that there were others there -- strangers at that. In a moment's panic, the blue quickly shrunk back, and tried very hard to cuddle close behind J'lar. Maybe we should come back another time. It looks crowded.

The ex-merc gave a small grunt, and stepped to the side, even as he continued going towards the beach. If he'd had reservations at approaching the other, Loreleth's shyness meant he had no choice. "C'mon now, Lore," he encouraged, sending a wave of confidence and love. "We won't bother them, but we don't want to be rude now?" Not that J'lar really cared much about manners -- but he didn't want Loreleth to live a worried or avoidant existence. He might be biased, but his beautiful blue was a gem and anyone would be honored to meet him.

So it was, the pair picked a sandier spot, not terribly far from where S'tar was perched. He set down his towel, along with a satchel of snacks and treats for himself, and a bucket of oil with a few paddles and brushes attached. Loreleth was due for a good oiling, but only until after the blue had finished swimming.

"Well, aren't you going to go swim?" He asked, reaching down to stroke his growing blue's head. The dragon cuddled closer. Only if you go with me.

It was Cuteth who had spotted the couple making their way to the beach, the young blue dragonet clinging to the side of his rider as if completely unsure of the entire trip. It was cute and almost made the older blue think about when he was about when he was at that age and how even then he had to take care of S’tar despite the rider having more experience than him out in the world. Come to think of it if S’tar had been rather more independent he wouldn’t have been as interested in bonding with the young lad. Taking a moment he rolled in the sand and water, letting the waves roll over his sunning belly before burying himself into the cool water while waiting on the guest to arrive. It wouldn’t be long before they would be close enough for Cuteth to stick his nose into their business and find out who they were and of course drag his rider into meeting someone entirely new.

S’tar of course didn’t notice anyone making their way to the beach, instead he continued to gaze out at the sea as his thoughts continued to drift along like the white clouds that floated lazily in the sky. Most of it was trying to recall the names of stars he had learned over his travels, every now and again he tried to remember them all and where each of them were supposed to linger in the sky. Of course it was harder not being able to see them but the whole point was to not cheat to easily, if he couldn’t recall the major ones where they were now how would he even remember when they were actually hanging in front of him. It may have been silly but that didn’t matter to him, as long as he knew names it would be alright.

S’tar… oh s’tarrrr are you there? Recalliinngg S’tarrrr The voice slowly started to creep into the blonde’s mind as he blinked a few times trying to remember where and what he was doing only to find the blue dragon staring at him with a rather amused expression.

We have guest who have come out to enjoy the wonderful weather.” Cuteth shook his head in the direction to where the rider and dragonet were setting up camp on the beach to enjoy the weather. They were quite close enough that it wouldn’t be much of an effort for the pale rider to say hello to them.

Blinking again S’tar looked at Cuteth before turning his head into the direction of where the unfamiliar figures had laid out a towel in the sand. A frown etched across his face as he saw the oil kit, he should have done the same but instead he had turned up empty handed to the beach. The pale eyes drifted watching the unfamiliar faces move, the blue was pretty a dark color with blue markings like a comet flying in the night sky. The rider was interesting too, older than most candidates if he wasn’t mistaken, but he had an air about him that drew curiosity.

Stop staring and say something if you don’t mind. At this point the blue had made his way out of the water and was nudging his wet skin against S’tar’s body.

All he did manage was a wave and a soft hello only half hoping they would hear.
