About the Family: Xandeleigh, upon realizing she was pregnant, stuck around the pride long enough to give birth and wean the cubs before leaving the cubs with their father. She returns periodically to check on her offspring, but wouldn't be caught dead as a slave. Yu Zhou is a breeding slave, and while he would have contact with his children, he likely wouldn't actively be raising them and the cubs will either be adopted to an infertile pair or raised collectively by the hybrids of the pride.


Prompts:

1. How does your cub feel about not really being around their parents and instead raised by the pride as a whole?
   
2. Koti is located in the wetlands - how does the cub feel about that? Do they know about the past drought?
   
3. How does your cub feel about infertility - the pride explains this at a young age due to the nature of the pride. Will they hope for children one day or shun the idea?

About the Family: Chozi is a well known for being fertile in the pride - one of his children even heads the pride currently, and he has many children in the far reaches of the world. This cub has a LOT of family, and like 40-something siblings. Chozi will be raising this litter, though they will have contact with their mother very often as cubs but perhaps less so as adults but that's entirely up to them! They have quite a lot of family within the pride as well, including aunts and cousins and so on.

Response: Akvo was a cub of the pride and he LOVED it. Of course, he knew who his father was and he showed him the respect due to him but the young hybrid adored having everyone in the pride look out after him, take care of him, worry about him. Some might have felt overwhelmed by the number of eyes looking over his shoulder but not Akvo. Akvo loved having all eyes on him and with is bright pelt (thank you daddy), he certainly stood out and drew attention! There was never a shortage of adults who would play with him, groom him, listen to him and cuddle him. Really this was the life to live. Of course he would have to grow up eventually but for now Akvo was loving the life of being a cub of the pride.

Parents were too limiting. Xande was a hybrid, part of the new generation of a thriving hybrid community, so why would he need to cling to purebred parents? The other hybrids taught him much more about life, after all. His mother never stuck around and his father was just a breeding slave, so while he smiled politely as they spoke to him, he was more than eager to run back to the hybrids he so loved.

He was particularly fond of watching the Vartijat and learning from them. Wouldn't it be amazing to grow to be strong and confident like the pride's guards? Sure, he had cheetah blood which would reduce his size and strength, but he was determined to use his better speed and agility to hit fast and true in a fight. Sometimes he'd get in trouble for fighting with other cubs or getting too rough while sparring with a slave... but it was all for his training! He had to impress them, after all.

Response: Infertility comes when two members of different species love each other and have children. As a cub it doesn't upset her too much, her mind isn't on making family. Growing up it'll start to really bother her if she finds someone to spend her life with, but at the same time, she'll come to sort of accept it. Adoption could be an option and that'll be just as rewarding; giving someone else a home and loving family.
