The rainy season had caught him by surprise. Standing underneath a thick tree, Ginga peered up at the dark sky. He had heard the tale. If it rained with the sun shining, a lion was born. Of course, it was a false saying and there certainly wasn’t any sunshine at the moment, but the saying always came to mind whenever it was raining.

Sighing, he sat back, leaning against the bark of the tree. His eyes drifted close, listening to the pitter patter of the rain. It was a peaceful sound, full of life. A small smile appeared on his face. The world outside his grove was so beautiful.

It wasn't every day that Intiha-ka left the island the Te'a-Nakhun had come to, but it wasn't uncommon, either. She might not be Akheti - in fact, if she were not Adhi-raj, she would have been Jaitra - but she made a point of joining them on hunts now and then. Not because they needed her, but because she needed to stay close to her pride, to her family and friends, and not keep too great a distance between herself and them. Today, however, she was by herself when she took advantage of low tide and crossed to the mainland. Sometimes, rather than crossing with a group to seek prey, she crossed alone to seek...something else. Something she had yet to find.

The brightly-colored lioness was unphased by the rain as she made her way inland, not bothering to shake it off - between the rain and the crossing, she was quite thoroughly soaked, and there was neither anything to be done for it nor anything wrong with it. It wasn't the most promising weather for what she sought, as whatever rogues were in the area might be sheltering from the rain rather than strolling about, but it was worth a look anyway.

A movement in the constant gray blanket of rain caught his eyes. A bright movement on such a dark day. His eyes widened. What in the world… she was going to catch a cold! His mother had told him the likelihood of catching a cold. Everyone in their family knew one thing or another about herbs and illnesses but his mother had been the most knowledgeable. He watched for a moment longer, anxious. Should he… should he meddle? It wasn’t good to meddle. But leaving someone in the rain…

Taking in a deep breath, he dashed out in the rain, charging towards the bright lioness. ”Miss!” he called, eyes squinting as water trickled over them. ”Miss!” he shouted again over the thundering noise. ”T-There’s shelter over there!” he said, about to point towards the pathetic tree that allowed water to seep through… before noticing a rock cropping out of the ground and hanging nicely over a not so dry spot. But it did shield from the onslaught from above. He gestured with a paw over to it.

Even in the downpour, it was hard to miss a bright pelt, standing out like a sore paw. She could understand why some prides eschewed such vibrant colors, as they certainly were a disadvantage in hunting that needed to be made up for in skill and tricks, but little did they know that when they rejected more colorful individuals, they were rejecting their betters. Those who had lived their previous lives with more honor than those who now bore dull coats.

Intiha-ka saw him the moment he started to move, rushing out into the rain and calling to her. 'Miss.' She had to quirk a little smile at that, as it wasn't something she was called...well, ever. "It's just a bit of rain," the muscular lioness said with a chuckle. "I highly doubt it will be what kills me."
