It was a warm day. The sun shone brightly in the cloudless sky. There were very few trees in the surrounding area, much less any water holes or even rocks. Just tall blades of bronzed grass that stood solemnly, gently brushing up against each other, creating a small wave between each and every individual one. For the later part of the year, the air had an odd heat to it, but for the stretching plains of Africa, this wasn't necessarily an out of the ordinary thing.

Rui, a very white male with just dabs of red along his spine and face, most of his white mane fading off into a medium gray, laid lounging about, soaking up the warm rays. It was kind of nice when the weather decided it wanted to take a day or two to just be abnormal. The white male rolled around, kicking his feet up into the air above him, having a good little bit of fun, even if he was alone.

Oof. Why was it so warm today? Vaatia didn't like it. He preferred slightly cooler weather, which is why he tended to stay within the forests that were closer to the coast. Yea, sure, he had a white coat for the most part, but he was just a lion that was built and preferred cooler weather than... This. Why was he out here anyway? He had gotten tired of the forest scenery. When one spent as much time in a single location with the same kind of trees and grass to look at, one would kind of get sick of it. Plus, with his newfound idea of deciding to go and join the pride that his Bergy hailed from, he thought a quick sight seeing trip wasn't a bad idea.

Still... It was so hot. Ugh. How awful. Not a water hole around in sight, much less any trees or even rocks. Just... Grass. Brown grass. Tons of it. Yea, this was exactly the kind of sights he wanted to take in. Shaking his head and fluffing his mane up just a tad, his redish eyes caught the sight of something... Well... Similar to him. A white male was just a little ways off, apparently rolling around on the ground. Raising a white eyebrow, Vaatia grew curious. His eyes scanned the savannah around him, and there really wasn't much else of interest around. So! Off he padded, his black splotched paws pushing the dry grass aside.

Rolling and rolling and rolling, Rui was just... Having the time of his life. He hadn't quite outgrown his cublike ways, but his cub life had also been an interesting one. Filled with demons, betrayal, slaves, and bold accusations, Rui had managed to escape that kind of awful situation, much preferring to just be alone and out in the open world. He hadn't quite found a new place to call home, but he didn't mind just simply traveling either. It was a wonderful experience!

Sighing contently and looking up at the empty sky above him, Rui's ears twitched as he heard the soft padding of another. He took quiet breaths and listened, not wanting to roll over and actually find out who or what it was. He was a lion after all. There wasn't much bigger around that could really threaten him, other than one of other large cats. He wasn't really worried though. His carefree demeanor showed he posed no threat, nor did he care to initiate one.

As the white male got closer to this... Well... Other white male, he took notice of how he male just... Didn't seem to care. He was still on his back, his feet up above him with his face pointing up towards the sky. Again, Vaatia raised an eyebrow. Why was he so carefree? Perhaps he had just not had any personal experiences that led to a more alert stance for him. Whatever the case, Vaatia was still going to make his presence known and sate his curiosity. He did have a bit of a curious streak. Whether that was good or bad, he had not determined as of yet.

"Ummm... Hello?" The white and black male was now fairly close, only probably about ten feet away. He didn't want to encroach too closely, for fear that this male was just acting childish in order to attack. It had happened before and he sure as hell wasn't going to let it happen again.

The greeting met with Rui's ears and a happy smile came across his white maw. It was a friendly lion! That was a good thing to hear. "Helloooo!", he called back, still continuing to lay on his back and just stare up at the sky. "Isn't it just a lovely day today? Such nice warm weather!" Breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly, Rui's pale blue eyes closed contently, his legs falling a bit more limp above him, and his body in a very rested and peaceful state of relaxation. Why couldn't everyday be this gorgeous and just simply wonderful?

Well, the lion was not deaf, nor injured, much less dead. That was a good sign at least. Very confused though, Vaatia decided to pad just a bit closer. "Uhhh, yes. It's ummm, a warm day. I don't know if I would call it nice, but it is surely warm." Noticing the full on relaxed disposition of the other white male, Vaatia just couldn't quite grasp how pleased he was. Still growing closer, slowly of course, he was practically right by the side of the lion now. His red-pink eyes scanned him over. Nope. Not a threat. Not even in the tiniest about. He noticed the male's closed eyes and just happy look on his face. In a sense, it kind of annoyed Vaatia. Why??

"Hello. Again." Vaatia grunted. Yes, sure, this other male was having a good time, but to not really properly introduce yourself, let alone greet another in a more civilized and adult-like manner, was just rude. Perhaps this sight seeing adventure of his was just about over, especially of this was what the world had to offer at the moment.

Breathing in and exhaling once more, Rui opened his eyes. At first, the sky was seen. He then noticed a bit of white out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head to the side and saw the top part of Vaatia's mane. Then the top of his black mask and then his almost blood red eyes. "Oh! Hello! Again!" Rui smiled warmly, quite pleased to see another. "You have a very interesting face marking. It's pretty cool! You kind of look like a lion that would go off and fight baddies, like hyenas or something." He gave Vaatia a toothy grin, quite pleased with his comparison that he had made.

Ummm. What? Okay, this lion was officially just... Odd. Vaatia didn't have time for odd, much less patience for it. His newfound mate was just about as odd as he could handle, and he swore that he could only really deal with it because he loved and adored her. This male though? Yea, no. He didn't really want to deal with it, nor did he feel like he had all day to figure out why he was the way he was, much less why he was doing... This.

"I uhhh... Thank you. I haven't heard that one before. It was... Ummm... Cute." He gave the Rui a half smile, showing his obvious discomfort with the conversation. This just wasn't really his thing, especially with other males. A cute lady? Yea sure. Another male? No thank you. "Alright! Well, it's been nice meeting you! Very much so a pleasure and the like." The moment that statement escaped his lips, Vaatia turned and proceeded to go BACK the way he had come from. He didn't dare venture any further beyond this point. He was treating this other white lion as a marker, a marker to not venture past.

What? The other male was leaving already?? Well, that was no fun! Huffing a little bit, Rui rolled over and around, wiggling around just enough so that he could see where Vaatia was heading. He wasn't really sure which direction he had come from to begin with, but having sensed the discomfort in his voice and seeing it quite visible on his face, Rui didn't decide to pursue the other male either. This kind of fun wasn't quite for everyone, and that was okay! It was fun for Rui and that was what mattered.

"Alrighty stranger! It's been a pleasure meeting you! I hope the sun warms your back and the night cools your paws!" That was a good sentence to leave their crossing paths at. He was hearty, he was friendly, and he wasn't any kind of threat. As much as he may of made the other white lion uncomfortable, Rui was happy with how their encounter went. Sure it was short, but it was still an encounter nonetheless. Another one to add to his imaginary list.

Vaatia rolled his red-pink eyes. Oh my word. The other male may as well of been a damned female. He had never met a male that was so... Just... He didn't even know. Whatever the other male was. Carefree, with no actions of even defending himself. Of course, this was what one risked when using the rogue lands as their home. Any kind of lion, leopard, hyena, or what have you could be out here, and as much as Vaatia called these lands his home, he was ready to have a new home. A more permanent home. A home by the sea with tall rock formations that smashed into each other that you could climb upon. A home with his snowy gold beauty. He let out a sigh, a happy one, a small smile appearing over his black maw. His black tipped tail twitched behind him, his dark paws padding off the way he had come. He was heading off to the Myrsky Syntynyt Lands.
