He had heard a great deal about this one pride, out somewhere. SO what was he to do? Seek it out naturally. It sounded like a pretty good gig to him, if you were able to challenge and get in anyway. You had lionesses do all the work and you could sleep around with any of them? Winner, Winner chicken dinner.

At least he could cause he wasn't likely to be related to any of them.

He had no kids.

That he knew of.

What had that male said? Take a left at the bones of a wild ox? Or was that the boulder that looked like an elephant. Oh well didn't matter, he figured he was getting close by the change of scenery.

It just fit the description to be honest.

Now what was it he needed to do, oh right.

He needed to fight someone.

The only damper on Bazazi's sweet new lifestyle was that he was constantly dealing with challenges. Or, it was enough of an inconvenience when he wasn't to lay back and enjoy life that it felt never-ending. It didn't help that the Abaholi were not so threatened by random strangers, and that the other Inselelo seemed to have way more fans than him. He didn't really care about that except that it would have made his stay a lot easier. And, potentially, a lot longer.

He hadn't lost yet, though.

When he arrived to face the challenger, he gave him a quick look up and down. He looked strong and healthy enough to be a real threat, a bit younger than him but not enough be a fool. On appearances along, he'd likely be popular.

Well, this was annoying.

Looking grim, he waited for his opponent to make the first move.

Did they have a watch bird or something? It wasn't long before an older looking male came into view. Despite his age he looked like he'd been through a scuff or two so that lone was testament to his character.

At least that's what Budek told himself.

That meant this was going to be at least a little challenging, which was good. He didn't want to go up against some pushover. He'd feel as if he cheated his way in then. This way if he won he'd feel he had won the right to enter the pride fair and square.

As he looked him over he noticed that they were alike, but not alike. They had similarities, that was what he was going for. The eyes, the markings. Hell, they could probably have been cool if they'd met outside of this circumstance. Or not, he didn't know this guy and he wasn't likely going to.

Oh well.

He waited a moment but then realize the male was waiting for him. Guess they were gonna do the thing then.

"Good luck." He said with a wicked grin and charged the male, however before getting close enough to strike he feigned left, and went to the right hoping to catch the male off guard a little bit.

Bazazi hadn't even been in the Ithambo'hlabathi long enough to get fat, and that meant it was definitely not time for him to go. Toiling away in the damned Ravine for ages, he earned it. It was easy to keep fighting for his place here because of that, he wasn't ever going to overthink it with the attitude he had about it all.

It took the stranger a long time to move, making the Inselelo wonder if he might just be scared off when faced with a territorial male.. but then he actually wished him luck. Bazazi rolled his eyes, making his first mistake and missing the tell that would have signaled a feint.

And it was indeed with a little bit of luck that he stayed on balance despite the strike. Moving with it, he put some distance between himself and the challenger, almost as if it were nothing, before lunging forward to make his own move.

It seemed to him that this guy wasn't really going to say much, if anything at all. That was fine with him, made this all the easier.

He was fortunate enough to get a solid strike in before the male counter with his own. He wasn't able to miss it completely but instead of trying to dodge away from it he pushed himself forward, so the attack took a little more of his skin than it probably would have but it put him closer to the male.

Which was what he wanted.

Sometimes you had to take some hits to get a hit, at least that was Budeks experience. He swiped at the male hoping to make a solid connection.

Finally, Bazazi made a sound-- but it was a frustrated snarl as a heavy paw filled with sharp claws connected with his face. His instinct was to back up before the claws got a hold of anything especially sensitive, it was awful close to his nose.. but he couldn't just give up any ground. He hadn't hesitated in his fight with Kuhasa, and that was for a chance at a life here. Now he was fighting to keep it.

With that in mind, he ducked down and went for Budek's leg that was still holding his front up. It gave the challenger a good shot at his eyes but taking it could mean getting his feet knocked out from under him. Bazazi was counting on him not being able to handle both at once.

There was a satisfying sound of paw connecting with face and then a very angry snarl coming from his opponent.

He had just slapped him in the face, it was definitely worth that growl.

However he wasn't exactly anticipating the males next move, mainly because it seemed... Strange.

While he was in fact going for his leg keeping his front end up right it gave him clear shot of his face. He wasn't against blinding the male but was he really wanting to cause him enough damage he'd succumb to wounds alone?

Maybe.

Flexibility was a key thing felines were equipped with, thank the Gods for that.

Deciding to say screw it, he allowed the move to carry on. It was going to cause him to fall but it was all about how he fell.

Using the moment to swipe at his face one last time before his body obstructed the motion he allowed himself to fall in a manner that draped him across the male.

Granted his other leg was out from under him but he still had his hind legs and his mouth. When he fell it gave him a clear shot at a shoulder and using his free leg and mouth he grabbed onto him with a solid bite and pushed with his back legs. He was already going in that direction anyway.

This would put them both on their backs. He'd be at the advantage to rise first but given how hard he had sunk his fangs and teeth into the shoulder for a solid grip he doubted this fight was going to last much longer.

Bazazi could tell exactly where he went wrong when Budek lurched forward with purpose. He roared in pain as claws went over his eyes and teeth sunk into his shoulder. Not only had he lost his gamble but he just might have lost the whole thing. Against his better judgement, he attempted to jerk away from his opponent but the challenger had momentum and a fierce grip on that shoulder. The only thing Bazazi had going for him now what that, despite his attempt to get away, he had the sense to give in and let himself hit the ground.

Once he was on the ground, he steeled himself and gave a vicious kick with his back legs to get Budek off and away from him, likely letting the lion take some fur and flesh with him. He was losing but he wasn't going to be pinned or killed, he'd concede on his own two feet before he'd let either happen.

The pain of putting the distance between them left him stunned for a second longer than was good for him, but he pushed through and got to his feet- his posture was tense but low. Defiant.. but submissive. He couldn't actually see Budek now but he could hear him, sense him. One eye was still closed from the strike and the other was foggy from the pain and effort.

He was done.

He took some scraps when the lion dug his back legs into him but he rolled away and got to his feet fairly easy. He waited and when nothing happened he stood triumphantly before the defeated party.

He supposed that meant he could go into the pride now? He figured given how the whole thing had gone down the male wasn't going to congratulate him or anything and he wasn't going to rub it in his face that he lost.

Turning he entered the prides lands, and he didn't look back.

Just like Budek, Bazazi waited.. and then walked off, only he went in the opposite direction of that he had arrived in, and opposite the victor. He wanted to stay but he wasn't going to die for it, and it did all seem to come down to luck in the end. So he would tell himself, at least. At worst, he and his opponent were well-matched and it was his opponent who managed to gain and keep favour in the fight.

He had a limp and his vision was blurry but he would keep walking until he was far enough away to stay out of trouble. There was a decent chance he would pass out before that happened but if his luck improved, it would be out of the way of any hunting parties out and about.

Oh well.

It was nice in the Bonelands while it lasted.

Fin!
