This is an ORP for the members of Glacio and Nishati's family, though other colony members are welcome to join if they want to, just to meet the new family! No rogues this time, Glacio wouldn't take too kindly to strangers around his cubs!

Glacio had been experiencing a great deal of emotion these last few months, something he wasn't usually used to. He was used to being a composed leopard, a feline of science and knowledge! Being compelled to follow his heart wasn't exactly something he was known to do and yet, here he sat beside his cubs and partner, beaming for all the world to see. It felt strange to smile when he was found so frequently with a neutral expression, but today was special.

Today was the day that he and Nishati had finally decided to show the cubs off and meet the rest of the colony... If anyone from the colony chose to come and meet them, of course. He kept a close watch on his cubs, though he was trying his best not to smother them, for it would be a disaster if they didn't learn some independence. After all, independence was what had gotten Glacio so far in his own life.

"They look like they could be a pawful." Came a voice behind him. Turning, Glacio smiled when he found one of his old friends, Kuruka, standing behind him. Kuruka had been one of the rogues that accompanied Glacio to the Elimisha'sombea, but the dark-coated leopard had only been a cub when he got there. He may be an adult now, but he was still a youth in Glacio's eyes and Kuruka was far from acting his age, anyway.

"I'm hoping they'll be less trouble than you were. You just wanted to jump on everything you saw." Glacio rumbled, but his eyes held affection for the other male, who chuckled and came to sit beside him. Just then, one of the cubs let out a wail. Glacio snapped back to attention to see Niveis licking pathetically at her paw. Glacio came forward at once and nosed the young thing. "Show me." The paw came forward and Glacio found that it was no more than a scrape. His sigh of relief came out in a whoosh and he gave licked the small paw gently. "Just give it a few more licks, Niveis-dear and it'll be just fine." He soothed and his daughter nodded, suddenly very focused on licking her paw over and over and over again.

"Who are you and what have you done with Glacio?" Purred Kuruka. "You never showed me that much compassion in my cubhood. Or anyone else, I think." He turned his head to look and smile at Nishati. "My dear lady, you must have had quite an impact on him. Forgive me for not introducing myself earlier, I am Kuruka.
And you are...?
"
With an amused snort, Glacio left them to talk while his eyes remained on the cubs, wondering when they would notice Kuruka's prescence and seek his company too. Unless anyone else chose to join them, of course.

Nisha lay contentedly on the cool earth and watched her cubs as they explored and played. She also watched her mate as he watched the cubs, ever attentive. Glacio had certainly developed over the last several months, being more affectionate and even showing a little emotion in front of others. He was still the same logical and intellectual leopard she'd met and fallen for, but with a bit of feeling in there. He seemed happier.

Nisha caught sight of the black leopard as he headed toward them, and recognized him as a good friend of Glacio's, though the two had never formally met. She smiled at the interaction between her mate and his friend, a smile that only widened as Kuruka addressed her directly.

"Certainly you are forgiven, Kuruka. It isn't you who hides me from his friends," Nisha grinned mischievously and shot Glacio a look that plainly stated her joke. "I am Nishati. And I certainly hope that I have had an impact, though I think the cubs take more credit."

Speaking of... Nisha looked down as her tail was suddenly and mercilessly attacked, an event that occurred incredibly often nowadays. This time, the culprit was her only son, Tauen.

Their identical eyes met, and Tauen's widened in innocent surprise. He'd been caught. The cub slowly released his mother's tail and trotted over to rub his head against her shoulder, purring as if his assault had never happened. Noticing Kuruka for the first time, Tauen gaped up at him for a moment.

"Hi."

Glacio's ears flicked at the teasing of his mate, but he let Kuruka take the lead. That was, after all, what he had hoped would occur that day. The colony was welcome to come and meet his cubs. He eased down into a relaxed, lounging position, stretching out his legs and tail in a semi-circle to prevent any of his cubs from running off. They would have to climb over him or try to scale the large black leopard that was Kuruka (or worse yet, try to sneak past their ever-watching mother) to escape the adult's eyes.

Content to let his guard drop with his family and friend, Glacio sighed happily and watched the cubs begin to notice Kuruka, the first leopard they had met that wasn't either of their parents, for the first time.

Tauen wasn't the only one that had noticed the dark-pelted leopard. Niveis watched from further away, her gaze wide and her tail fluffed out. She went over to her mother and prodded her with a tiny paw, rather than approach the stranger herself.

"Mother." She prodded the pale leopardess again. "Mother, who IS that?"

Kuruka smiled at Nishati, his first impression of her being a good one immediately. Yes, he decided, she and Glacio were a smart match. At the very least, Nishati seemed to possess a similar wit that Kuruka usually lacked himself. There was a reason, aside from his boundless energy as a cub and adolescent, that he had gone into the Defense Sector and not that of the Scholar.

His eyes were soon directed to movement prowling towards Nishati's tail. He was about to open his mouth to warn her, when the little cub was already upon it. He tussled with it, only to still when his mother caught him. Then, he was looking at Kuruka.

Kuruka stifled a chuckle at the appalled look the young cub gave him, while his sister ran to hide near her mother. To the young male cub, Kuruka crouched so that he was able to be eye-level with the spotted thing.
"Hello there. I'm Kuruka, what might your name be?"

Quinzhee sat a bit further away from the family not really into the 'meeting new people' thing. She drew crude antelope stick figures with her claws in the earth. Some looked more like antelope than others causing the cub to growl lowly as she attempted to fix the mutants. Her tail thrashed in irritation behind her.

Being a cub, she quickly gave up and chose to instead play huntress with a wandering scarab beetle. Butt up in the air wiggling, she pounced on the bug. As her teeth found their way past the beetle's armor, she squeaked in disgust. The big tasted AWEFUL! Quinzhee, with her bug stained tongue lolling out of her jaws, dashed to her mother to make it right again.

"Tauen," the little cub stated bluntly, still staring at Kuruka with fascination. "You're very dark. Why are you so dark? Dad, why is he darker?"
Tauen was absolutely thrilled at Kuruka's pelt coloring, having only ever seen his own family before with their bright and pale coats. He was completely unaware that his questions might hold somewhat offensive tones; he simply needed to know why their colors were so different.

While Kuruka introduced himself to her son, Nisha turned most of her attention to the daughter that had crept over, keeping one ear turned back to hear Tauen's interaction with his new acquaintance.
"That is one of your father's good friends. Why don't you join your brother, and ask him his name?"
Nisha stopped short as she heard where exactly Niveis' brother was going with his conversation. She turned back to look at Tauen with amused shock, then grinned at her mate. Their son certainly got right to it when he wanted to know something. Glacio could handle this one since Tauen had directly asked his father and Nisha seemed to have her paws full with her daughters.
Stifling laughter, Nisha held out her paw so Quinzhee could wipe the beetle remnants on her mother's pads.

Kuruka smiled at the young male cub: Tauen. He grinned when the cub asked him about his coat color and then turned to Glacio, since his cub had asked the two of them the question. Glacio nodded subtly and Kuruka leaned back to let him handle it. Glacio typically liked handling things.

"Tauen, not all leopards are our colors. In fact, there are many different colors and patterns for all living things. Why, I have even seen some individuals that look as green as the leaves on these trees." He said, looking up at the trees around them, before leveling his eyes with his song. "You will meet others that look much more curious than Kuruka, son, but rather than focus on his color, why not ask him about what he does for the colony?" He turned his gaze back onto Kuruka who blinked at him. "You're a Warrior for the Defense Sector now, aren't you, Kuruka?" He asked. Tauen had displayed an interest in rough-housing, while his other cubs seemed more exploitative, like their parents. One of the reasons Glacio had asked Kuruka to come meet his cubs and mate was to assess Tauen and determine whether the young male had potential to following in his friend's pawsteps. Of course, Glacio would support any career choice his children made, but with so many different fields to go into, he would do his part as a parent to expose them to as many different career paths as he could. So, this was the first step, since the Defense Sector was not nearly as broad as the Scholar Sector. At least, not in Glacio's mind anyway.

"Yes, that's correct." Kuruka replied to Glacio, turning his gaze to the cub again. "Do you have any interest in the life of a warrior, Tauen?" He asked, glancing up at Nishati, to make sure she was alright with him asking this of her cubs at such a young age.

"But Mother, he looks weird." Niveis protested. "And he smells weird. And he's... he's just too weird!" She claimed to her mother, before noticing Quinzhee approach. She giggled at the stain on her sister's tongue. "Zheeeee," She squealed. "You're even weirder than Kuru-whatsit!" She said, batting her sister away with a paw playfully.

Tauen watched his father intently, his mouth gaping as if this were the most amazing news to ever be heard, then shifting into a beaming smile. The cub was absolutely ecstatic with the new information and could not wait to meet a leopard as green as the leaves, or maybe even one with a weird pattern!

As his father brought up the colony, Tauen bounced a little and opened his mouth to ask about Kuruka's rank. As Glacio posed the question for his son, Tauen gave a grumpy snort, but swiftly got over it in excitement about the answer. His parents always continued to teach their cubs about the colony - what it meant to be in one, and that each member needed to fulfill their duties so they all could thrive as one. It was a fascinating concept. Tauen knew of several of the ranks, and that his mother was a medic and his father was a story-teller; both were intriguing to the young white male, but not enough that he could see himself wanting to perform that duty for the rest of his life. But the cub was exhilarated by "combat" - or as close to it as a cub got with his siblings and his parents and stray lizards - and he absolutely loved analyzing the little things to better his fighting skills. Not that he really had any at this clumsy age, but he certainly thought he did.

Tauen nodded fervently at Kuruka's question, for once too in awe to speak. He wanted to know everything! But there were so many questions flying through his mind like hummingbirds, he couldn't catch one to ask it.

Nisha blinked and nodded at Kuruka to show she didn't mind the query. Especially not directed to Tauen. The young cub just could not be phased, and she chuckled heartily that he was speechless for once.
"Perhaps you should describe your duties to him. We'll see if his jaw can actually touch the grass."

Turning back to Niveis, Nisha narrowed her eyes slightly and gently cuffed her daughter with a paw for her comments.
"Niveis. We do not use "weird" as an insult, and we do not avoid or taunt people for being different. Your father and I have told you many times - a thing is only weird until you learn about it, and you must not judge what you do not know." Nisha's stern tone left no room for argument. She would not allow her cubs to grow into adults that were not accepting of others, especially considering her previous home - the Sikukuu - accepted all living creatures.

Glacio smiled at the scene playing out before him, watching his cubs interact with his dear friend. He kept close to his mate, observing how she dealt with Niveis. It was then that he noticed Eirys creeping up behind her silver sister. Too busy with Nisha to notice her sister, Niveis let out a cry when her light blue sister pounced upon her tail and rolled away, her concern over her comment forgotten for the moment in the heat of battle.

Would they grow up to be apart of the Defense or Scholars sector? Glacio wondered. He naturally hoped it would be the latter, but looking at how Tauen looked to Kuruka, he wouldn't be entirely surprised if at least one of his cubs chose the path of a Warrior. He just hoped they would be happy and safe in whatever profession they chose.

Niveis let out a cry of protest when she was cuffed on the ear and looked sulkily at her mother.
"Fiiiine. I'm sorry." She grumbled and made a note not to use that word again, if it was only going to get her this sort of response from her family and peers. She let out a louder cry when her sister abruptly pounced on her tail and rolled onto her back, kicking at Eirys who laughed and sprang at her. "Get off! Mother, make her get off!" She mewled, trying to spring away. "Zhee, help!" She cried louder, trying to enlist her other sister's help now.

At Nishati's suggestion to describe his duties to the young Tauen, Kuruka nodded and cleared his throat.
"As a Warrior, it is my job to protect the colony along with the others of the Defense force. I patrol the borders to make sure that all is well and may be called to escort new leopards into the colony... or chase out trespassers, should the need arise." He explained grandly.

Hearing the commotion nearby, he glanced at the sisters tussling and added.
"Though when the time calls for it, we may also be asked to break up disagreements within the colony, should those involved be unable to disengage themselves from one another." He remarked and was ready to pull the sisters away should it become more than a play fight.

Eirys had been growing bored of all this chatter. With her brother hogging the attention of the Warrior, she set her sights upon an easier target, her sister Niveis and had pounced upon her without making much sound. With her tiny claws lodged into her sister's shoulders, she growled.
"You can't escape me!" And nipped at her sister's ear.

She didn't mean to do any harm, of course, she was just playing, but goodness gracious, why couldn't Ni just take the hint and stop yowling at every little thing?

Wasteland Wyvern rehomed Eirys to me, so I'm dropping her into the RP.

Nisha nodded approvingly at her daughter's submission, then almost immediately rolled her eyes as Eirys pounced. The time for personal lessons was short when you had so many cubs on your paws. Meeting her mate's eyes, Nisha smiled and shrugged, turning her attention back to Niveis as she yowled for help.

"It wouldn't be very fair if I stepped in, would it?" she chuckled. "Maybe your siblings will assist."

Tauen was obviously uninterested in getting involved in the scuffle (for once!), the youngster's attention solely and intensely on his elder as Kuruka described his duties in lamens terms. He was about to ask what the most dangerous thing the warrior had ever done was when Kuruka's focus switched to his crying sister. The bright cub whipped about to glare at his sisters, his springtime eyes as icy as his pelt.

"Do you mind?" Tauen all but snarled. "Just fight your own battles, you baby!"
