Shinji was mesmerized by the beach as they arrived, the seemingly endless ocean drawing him in almost invitingly so. Well he wasn't the strongest swimmer he sure as hell loved the water when it wasn't to deep. Without to much of a hesitation he threw off his upper shirt and took off his shoes before practically running in.
It was only after he had dunked his head in did he realize he hadn't undone his pony tail. Resurfacing he reached up and undid his hair tie, tossing it with precision over to his pile of shirt and shoes. Now his hair was undone and floated across the water.
"Come on in!, it's a hell of a lot warmer then it looks that's for sure"

How could one not laugh? Shinji's excitement struck Unki as something more amusing than relatable as he raced right past her. This was the first time in a good long while had she been able to go swimming as well.
Standing in the surf, Unki would remove her ivory vest and slip off her matching, slightly, soaked sandals. The set was placed behind her just out of the tide's reach. The vest carried most of her belongings and items like delicate paper tags stashed inside were on the mental list of things best without water.
"Warm? Awesome and here I was worried about cold water!" With that, the girl would sit fully clothed on the wet sand and absorbed herself in the art of unbinding her puffy braids and dismantle her top-knot. Free of the mess of hair ties, Unki’s hair could finally flow just past her shoulders and veil her face as she would purposefully trip, sink, and rise with the incoming wave from the shallows.
A timely gasp of air is taken and a laugh trickled after, “I noticed that your hair was long, but now it really looks so much longer than mine.” Her violet outfit, now soak through, features bright white shells along her person unlike the smooth shards of colored shell being tossed in the sand below. She spent a moment watching the tide tearing sand and shell in whirling heaps before checking the empty shore, the apparent tree-line, and the resort a ways further. The incoming surf was calm but strong enough that one may allow themselves to be shoved back to shore without resistance.
It really has been a long time since a true swimming endeavor.

~Current Theme Music~:Phweeen Biography Unbeknownst to Shinji and Unki something would lay in wait beneath the waters which seemed so calm and inviting. An individual roamed the depths of the sea. They needn't worry as the unknown was far off from the shoreline. There it would lay in wait in silent preparation. He was given a duty, That duty to acquire tunas and tropical treats for trade. Although it was not often he was given such open water to roam as in the clouds the bay was a ways away. [1/3]
A string of signs and a shifting of forms took place beneath the darkened waters. One that would certainly prove suitable in acquiring his true target. The aforementioned 'GIANT SHRIMP' he'd heard only a whisper of. However, a whisper was more than enough. He needed to refine his soft fleshy exterior to one of greater gusto if he was to compete with this shellfish of storied size. Toso could only image in the words of the server what such a rarity would taste like. Would it be the pinnacle of all shrimp delicacies he could only imagine, dream, and drool.[2/3]
So he would, do just that. The writhing tentacled Toso took it upon himself to become something of greater being. A being reminiscent of those in tales of ships sinking mysteriously. Focusing inward his chakra his body would expand and his tentacles would elongate. He would grow into a more formidable masculine squid...bloop. Though he was indeed larger perhaps relatively comparable to an elephant...he found that if he was indeed to face a GIANT SHRIMP. This would not be enough and so his inward focusing of chakra would have to be pushed to his absolute limit. Where else but an ocean free of docking and and ferrying ships was better to do so. Those of a truly perceptive ilk would be able to discern a small pool of rising bubbles far off into the deeper waters. A the salty sea soak had been pleasant and turned out to a fine place to discuss their plan of action. Unki would carefully wipe away the saltwater from around her eyes and stand. Recalling the mention of a library upon arrival inspired her to take the time to learn a technique or two. Room for learning something was always welcome. "I'm glad we've got that out of the way," she says, trudging through waves on her way back to dry land. "Since we've got things sorted out, I think there's a move I want to cover. I'm going to dry off really quick and hurry off the library. Coming too? On the dry, warm sands Unki would straighten out her posture, hold her head high, and spread her arms out. One hand would form a half a seal. A steamy bloom of hot air puffed off her person from many angles at once.
Dry, she wasn't kidding.
Unki would shake her head a bit to fluff out her hair before kneeling to collect her belongings. Her vest was secured back on and the multitude of hair ties were looped about her wrist.
With as much as she would've liked to investigate further below, just to say she did, the fact of being without goggles, a water-safe light, and the unseasoned swimming company the hope would have to be fulfilled another day. Shinji was taking in what they discussed when she brought in the thought for the library. He scanned across the beach with another thought and took a pause before responding.
"I think I actually want to train here. We should meet up maybe a day before the fight then. If you need to find me though I'm sure it won't be hard. Until then I'll talk to ya later"
He watched her dry herself off, slightly amazed even just that, and waved her good bye as she left before getting out of the water himself.
With a bit of free time it was finally the moment where Shinji would relearn his past. Just look at his hands and they were already shaking, mouths opening on his palms in visible excitement. He wasn't entirely sure how his hands were, really they felt like a part of him but often he felt as though they had a mind of their own. This was likely his past of course.
These were the hands that stained him in blood. It was a time where he hadn't been very careful with his powers. Really even now a days his chakra control was messy at best, a thing he had to work on, but back then it was truly explosive. So much so that it cost him the lives of those he had held dear.
However times had changed. He was getting older, expectations were rising. With the lack of genin in his village he had pressure on his shoulders to be a shining star which meant he had to conquer any of his fears. Besides, it wasn't like he had much else to lose. With the hands now opened up and freely moving he brought out his bag of molding clay, gently ripping off a few chunks and throwing them into one of the mouths.
Again there wasn't much to train in a sense. Like he had read many time over blood line abilities were always something that couldn't really be put down it words. It came naturally. Some more complicated techniques of course could be teached but nearly everything just seemed to flow. The clay began to become chewed in the mouth, teeth softening it and tongue shifting its shape and size.
The first few pieces weren't successfully, obviously. He opted for simple shapes to start. Things like a sphere, to a cube, triangle. Little by little he went over and over with his clay in an attempt to get the feel of it again. It took nearly a quarter of his supply just to get the rust off but there it was, he finished the first step.
If he was honest there was a small sliver of him that actually enjoyed using his mouths again. Of course the majority of this was overwhelmed with hesitation but he pressed on with his training regardless. Just the first step alone had taken him an entire day, far more then he wanted to. Now was the real first hurdle. There was an easier technique to learn but if he was getting into things again he wanted to go for the harder one first.
Firstly he made sure he went to a part of the resort where there wouldn't be any worry of environment damage. He wasn't planning on making massive explosives of course but didn't want to take the risk. Out by some random beach he threw some clay into the hands and let them chew as he took in the environment. There he would search for his inspiration.
A few small birds, mostly avian types, a few fishes out in the sea. Not much to work with but he had a few other things on the mind. Animation was the hurdle he was facing. To give his clay figures life and movement, that could be turned into devastation.
A lot of his initial attempts were out right failures. Small bird like figures came from his mouths, only to waddle a few steps before stopping. This clay could be reused at least, much like his previous practice had allowed. It was a rather annoying occurrence but again expected. With enough dedication and another day burnt he had managed to get his break through. Small clay birds would flutter about in the air, with Shinji making one of them explode with a snap of his finger. The explosion was small, but just seeing it shot memories into his head.
Shī Wan [ C1 ] learnt
With this out of the way he'd pull back a step or so. Something that would be a little easier and less...painful mentally. It was a trick he had learn as a kid which was almost akin to throwing a handful of dirt. Except in this case it wasn't sand, it was tiny explosive pellets.
The hardest part of the entire technique was getting the right amount of pellets and practicing the throw. It was a lot faster then what he was used to in creation as well. He kept to his training spot, throwing out blobs of sand. Eventually he managed to get the hang of it and got the basic hammered down.
Bakuton: Baku Tama [ Explosive Release: Explosive Bullets ] learnt
Now he'd have two more left, at least as far as he knew. The mine whip was to be next. It was a long string of clay that had explosive charges along it, useful in either direct confrontation or even assassination. Since he didn't know yet how to move through the earth he'd have to train it for use as a weapon which changed up his initial training.
In the sand he'd draw out some of his initial shape ideas and forms in wide strokes. Even just being able to get the visualization down was extremely helpful for things like this. Once he got the basic shape down he'd begin to feed his hand clay. As the teeth chewed he'd focus on not the explosive aspect but instead the strength and the shape.
Slowly the mouth spitted out a long whip with chunks of clay along it, the handle coming out last that his fingers wrapped around. From there he'd begin to practice with the new tool, whipping it around in slower motions at first. He carefully watched how it shifted and snapped. For certain it was dangerous to use close up.
With the basic hand movements with the whip down he could get on to the next part. Throwing it. There were similar tools that were used in their training, usually a piece of string with a ball on either end. You'd throw it and they'd whip around rapidly before catching around a targets ankles.
He kept that particular training in mind to practice throwing it. It wasn't hard to add the explosive aspect of course, so once he managed to start throwing it decently well. The form of the whip naturally caused it to wrap around whatever it struck. Oh progress was always so nice to watch.
Bakuton: Tekidan Sanjaku [ Explosive Release: Grenade Belt ] learnt
Now was for the final step of his training. All of this had taken much longer then he expected and the next one was likely to take up all of the rest of his time. It required much more finesse, control, and overall difficulty. Even more interesting enough was that the attack wasn't exactly straight forward. Utility attacks were always the funnest to learn after all.
The explosive sludge technique. Usually his techniques always involved shaping to start. Molding the soft clay in his mouths into solid, sometimes living, forms that could be controlled and manipulated. The sludge technique was a far different beast to this however. It would flow freely from either of his mouths, sliding across the ground before springing up on its victims.
Mix this with the usage of hand signs for activation's and detonation made for one hell of a set up. With his opponents skill sets for the most part a mystery he could use something that helped keep him protected close up. For this one though he had to go and borrow some paper. Sand wouldn't be enough to set up theories for this one.
With paper now in hand he found his spot to begin his work, pen prepared and mind wandering. It helped to keep his mind focused when it came to working with clay, lest it wander to....worse thoughts. Part of him wished that he had more notes prepared for the rest of his clay work but better to start late then never. He spent some time meditating on what he had learned previously to start, notes being added up with details as to how it functioned.
Once he had the organs he'd make the skeleton for the attack. Narrowing down the hand signs, amount of clay required, and the chakra flow of it. It was obvious now why he had earth as a natural affinity. Being able to meld earth so easily was an asset, especially when it came to basically a living mudslide.
All of that finally done he could get down to practicing. He made sure that he was in a large open beach area, keeping safe any of the wild life or plant life from his practicing. Once he had this set up he'd begin feeding his mouth clay. To start he'd only do the liquid movement part of it, no detonation.
It turned out moving the clay like mud was a little trickier then he first predicted. He had to hold control over it as it slid and moved across the sand, but once he rechecked his notes he managed to get more of a hang over it. Then he added the explosive steps. With no real target to practice it on he'd use clones until he finally managed to get the technique down.
"Ooh! Yay! You're still here!" She called out at first sight with an apparant spring in her step through the sand. Unki spoke again as the distance between them began to shrink. "I picked some goodies out for you. I hope they'll help!" The girl slips her hand under her vest's collar and further into an inner pocket. A package of rainbow colored gumballs was retrieved. She held them out for him as the her opposite hand would reach behind into a larger pocket on her back. Unki fumbled a bit but ultimately hurried the reveal of a small, bulky box of popcorn. "Sounds like we've got 10 a piece in each box. I read em' and both sounded handy in a pinch."

Shinji had been relaxing somewhat after all of his training had been completed. It didn't seem long before Unki showed up, a small smile spreading across his face. He gave her a welcoming wave before he focused his attention on what she brought.
Carefully he inspected it with a curious stare.
"What are these? Never used anything like them before. Oh and did your training go well Unki?"
He had no real experience with inventory so these things were entirely new.

If the giant shrimp did indeed rear it's delicious head..ah wait you don't eat the head then the volunteer squid would have indeed been in deep trouble, in more ways than one. Beneath the waves in what could only be considered something of a constipation of chakra. Although something was now occurring upon the surface of the distant waters. The two did well to avoid the mysterious depths as what could now be seen was the water's surface ebbing and flowing and thusly producing a whirlpool. This aquatic disturbance causing the birds and fish to flee towards closer shores to the Bakuton users targeting convenience. [1/4]
The peaceful exchange of gifts between the two would remain just that a peaceful exchange though the distant undulations of the water may have been harder to ignore as they intensified. As now, the water now showed signs of creating rougher waveforms. What could be the sound of something heartbeat like echoed as the shore trembled perhaps momentarily although nothing of earthquake like proportions. The chakra presence having grown significantly a proctor upon the shore looked mildly unsettled as what was occurring was certainly not planned to their knowledge. A blade was drawn and eyes were narrowed. [2/4]
Beneath the surface was a squid metamorphosis though having its fair share of difficulties. Regardless of how much chakra Toso poured into his unique henge its size only proved to show signs of insignificant growth. Or, rather it was classified as insignificant as self imposed by the squid whose bespectacled grey eyes were sealed shut in concentration. The whirlpool now grew into a swell and for the moment the atmosphere seemed to shift from sunny and relaxing to one foreboding and ominous. The goal he sought wasn't coming to fruition. It seemed he would have to give up...his spherical orbs opening. [3/4]
As he opened them to reveal his surroundings before him a terrifying sight. A shark of abnormally large size with hunger in its eyes. It set on a direct maw open collision course for the elephant sized squid whose current size would be no match...but then another heartbeat intensified and throughout the sea..perhaps it was the adrenaline but a mighty resonating "BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!" echoed through the waters and the concern on the proctors face shifted from defensive to abject awe. [Ika Henge Giant 4/4]
The waters where the swell were parted almost in a biblical manner as a towering shadow of a creature emerged from the depths. Four tentacles emerged from the depths with it and in one a shark in flailing distress. Then much like a baseball star pitcher in seconds one could only see the finned terror thrown into the sky with strength unfathomable leaving behind only a twinkle where it once was and the sound of a splash far off. A squid of giantlign] proportions would then cause the waves to ebb from it form as it turned around. Although, something peculiar was that this squid was sporting a pair of distinctive circular glasses. A little larger and it could no doubt be comparable in size to a tailed beast. At the sight of the glasses the proctor placed his blade away and shouted "TOSOKURUI! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE CATCHING FISH NOT THROWING THEM!"
The giant squid would scratch the back of its almost building like mantle in embarrassment though as always this didn't show itself on a facial level. Then a lightbulb of sorts came off as he noticed a familiar face. The squid giving off a friendly wave of a tentacle. "Unk-blnee." (Unk-nee) The giant squid would sound. "Bletting bleady blor blee blexam bly blee. Bly'll blee bleering blor bloo. bloo blor blest!" (Getting ready for the exams I see. I'll be cheering for you. Do your best.) Times like these most likely it would have been handy to have a squid translator as the voice seemed to echo through the entire coast. It certainly went so far to show that Unki had some 'interesting' friends. It could also be insinuated that with Toso's encouragements he wouldn't be participating himself in the exams."Blind blee bliff bloo bleed blanyting. Bloo bloud blee on blour blay bloudn't bloo?"(Find me if you need anything. You should be on your way shouldn't you?)

From the ocean, in her peripheral vision, a break in the tides surfaces. At first, Unki thought this to be a pod of whales with eager tails. Quickly, her initial thought fails and flurries into a state of what as she shifts her curious gaze to watch. An enormous grey cephalopod surfaces its limbs with large sea critter wrapped up in one. A quiver ran up her neck and her jaw drops some at sight of a giant squid. THAT was in there too? At least it was still a ways off, thankfully. However, the reveal of a pair of glasses was more questionable than unnerving as to what she was really seeing wasn’t only illusion. Do squids read?
Some unsourced voice spouted out essentially the only piece of information she needed. “Tosokurui? A-ah! Toso…! Toso?”. How nice! Another familiar face turned up here too and encounter with all its bizarre bits proves she wasn’t just hearing things with a supposed imaginary ‘bloop’. Shinji put away his treats, if you could call them that, but was alarmed to see a massive squid appear out of seemingly nowwhere. The fact that his teammate didn't seem to scared put his tensions at ease and before he knew it they were running off to the arena.

Several kilometers southeast of the furthest tip of the shore, a large metal ship came to rest. It was just barely concealed by the fog bank surrounding the island, visible once every so often as the shifting winds revealed and concealed it at their leisure. The ship itself seemed to be fairly calm but the waters around it were teeming with unseen creatures. What appeared to be a man strapped to a metal kite leapt off of the ship's deck and was followed by three others. As they rose up, a metal line behind them grew taut and they started dragging large nets full of an indistinct meat. The waters whipped themselves into a frenzy.
