[Round 2] Geei vs Mate'moto

Round 2 information:

- The winner of this duel will be guaranteed the rank of 'Captain'.
- The winner is the lion/ness who rolls the highest number across 5 turns. An extra turn must be rolled by each player to break a tie. [Reminder of rolls: 1 - miss, 2 - bide/glancing attack, 3 - hit]
- Even if you rolled higher than your opponent, if you fail to edit your rolls with an RP response, your character is disqualified.

Move 1: Bide

Mat padded towards her next opponent, another female that she once again knew from sight but not by name. Even though they were both technically Corporals now, she was glad she was being pitted against another Soldier. Something about Guards made her snort and roll her eyes: they were an important part of the pride, of course, but she felt that Soldier versus Guard would be heavily favoring the Solider in the battle. Here she was tested against her equal and she wouldn't have it any other way.

She offered the lioness a grin as she waited, this time wanting to see more of her competition before diving right in. This female had made it to the second round, after all. This was a little different than a sparring session. This one needed strategy and poise. She didn't speak, though. Talking was for after their battle.

Geei was feeling very pleased with herself, after all, she was a corporal now, the thought made her smirk. Corporal. It had a nice sound to it. She had won her first battle, just by the skin of her teeth but, perhaps more importantly she had found a friend of sorts and a partner to go on missions with in the future. It was a nice feeling, she had found an equal in the pride, someone who shared her own ambitions.

Though she wasn't really looking for friends in this fight for ranks, she was very pleased that she had been pitted against another female. A plot had begun to form in her mind and if she should raise higher in this tournament she would most certainly put it in to play.

She returned the other lionesses smile though rather than pause, wait and assess she decided it might be best to test her opponent. The massive black and white lioness launched herself in to a full blown attack, putting all of her weight behind her stike she sought to catch the other dark lioness off guard. Friends could be made at the end, for now, this lioness was her opponent and she had to take this seriously if her ambition was ever to come to fruition.

Move 2: Glancing blow

Well then, it seemed her opponent was going all-out. That let Mat know that taking her time in this battle would be foolish, as the other lioness was just as hungry for climbing the ranks as she was. The force of the attack made her stumble back and an annoyed snarl left her muzzle as she fought to keep her footing in the sand. She was strong, but so was Mat, and she managed to keep on her paws.

She lifted one to return the blow, but due to her less than favorable position the attack wasn't as sound as she would have liked. Still, she made contact and that was important. Missing blow after blow wasn't something she ever wanted to do.

Geei Roll 2 : Miss

The black and white lioness smirked at her opponent, she wasn't going to let a love tap like that be the end of this particular fight. She turned to return the swipe only to find the other lioness had moved, well, that was annoying.

Taking a few steps backwards Geei slowly started to circle keeping her eyes fixed firmly on her opponent, she wasn't going to give up without a fight, well, that's as the point in this really wasn't it? To fight, to win, to raise through the ranks. Geei waited hoping her fighting partner would make a mistake so she could land a finishing blow and be done with this. There was still so far to rise she wasn't happy just being a corporal.

Move 3: Hit

Mat had started to disengage in that particular little joust quickly enough to miss the swipe of Geei's paw. She in turn paused in their little battle to pace around in a slow circle, bright eyes focused on the dark lioness. Waiting around for too long wasn't Mat's idea of a good time, though, so she only let the stalemate last for a few moments before pouncing once more.

This time she wasn't so indirect in her attack. Rather than swiping with a paw, she ducked her head a bit and shifted at the last moment just a hair to the left, allowing her to shove her shoulder and neck into Geei's chest. With a heave she shoved as she ran forward, hoping to toss the other lioness off balance and dart out of range once again.

Geei roll 3 : Hit

As she took on the head on direct hit from the other liones Geei returned the battering by planting her back paws firmly in the sand and shoving. She growls pouncing away. She seemed to be evenly matched with this female. She did not find this amusing, still, it was nice to face someone who was her match.

A grin rose on her lips and Geei finally decided it was a good idea to say a few words. "It seems we are evenly matched." She clicks her tongue and lowers herself to her belly, she needed some sort of tactic here, perhaps a hunting stance would work in her favour, she had of course been trained differently, as an x rogue her style was some what varied from that of a pure blooded firekin, that didn't necessarily work in her favour but hopefully it would surprise the lioness.

Move 4: Hit
Total: 10

Mat wasn't terribly surprised when Geei retaliated with her own hit. She took it as well as the other lioness had, digging her paws into the sand to keep her footing, absorbing the blow with little more than a grunt. These battles might not show much by way of wounds, but each and every participant would certainly be feeling their hits in the morning.

The comment made the dark lioness grin in agreement. "Wouldn't have it any other way," she returned, taking just a moment to figure out what Geei was doing. Crouching, it seemed, which left her rather open for a blow. Mat didn't waste any time in swiping low with a paw to catch Geei's head, following her momentum to dart to the side. It was never a good idea to stay still for too long, after all.

"Where's the fun in sparring someone on a lower level than you?" she added. Indeed, her blood was racing with the thrill of the fight. She was glad her two battles had been this close. If she had soundly beaten either of her opponents she wouldn't have considered it a fun fight.

Geei Roll 4 : Miss

Unfortunately her crouching didn't seem to put her to any advantage, her tactic, to rise and hopefully topple the other lioness from below went without sucess and the sound hiding she received made her seriously re-think what she was up to.

The big lioness gave a nod raising to her paws and starting to stalk once again, she just had to get one good hit in and this would be over, though her head was starting to swim from the repeated blows.

"It wouldn't be fun any other way." She chuckles pondering her next move as she gave the other female a wide birth in the sand.

Move 5: Glancing blow

Mat circled the other lioness slowly, glad she had gotten out of the way of any attack Geei had tried to make on her quick retreat. Her golden eyes glinted with delight as the other female agreed with her - battles weren't fun if they weren't a battle!

"Haven't had a dull one yet," she said with a grin before darting in once more. She didn't outright charge this time, though, instead hitting the breaks just before Geei. She tossed up a bit of sand from her sudden halt and reached out with a paw to swipe at her legs, barely hitting her but making contact all the same.

Geei Roll 5 : Hit

The glancing blow hit her a little harder than she expected and though she managed to take one last heavy hit at the other lionesses head she raised her paws. "I'm done." She took a slow breath, a sigh on her maw. "Congratulations, I'll be rooting for you."

The black and white lioness rolled her shoulders, she wasn't exactly happy with this outcome but at least he had been beaten by another female, she would not have been best pleased if she had, had her butt handed to her by a male. At least she had gained the rank of corporal and perhaps next time she would be able to rise higher.

Mat got one more heavy blow to her body, but Geei spoke directly after to announce her stepping out of the fight. It had been a close one to be sure and Mat knew that the lioness before her would make a formidable Captain should the opportunity arise. Breathing a bit heavily but with a grin on her face, she nodded her dark head towards the other female.

"Your support is appreciated," she said, gracious but still obviously proud of herself. She was one of the younger lions competing after all. She had had a litter already and certainly wasn't the youngest out of all of them, but it was nice to see hard work and dedication paid off no matter your age. She gave Geei one more little grin before turning to head off of the dueling area to see to her new bruises and bumps and ready herself for the next battle.
