[Round 1] Shisa vs Vasuman

Round 1 information:

- The winner of this duel will be guaranteed the rank of 'Corporal'.
- The winner is the lion/ness who rolls the highest number across 5 turns. An extra turn must be rolled by each player to break a tie. [Reminder of rolls: 1 - miss, 2 - bide/glancing attack, 3 - hit]
- Even if you rolled higher than your opponent, if you fail to edit your rolls with an RP response, your character is disqualified.

First Move - 3, Hit

It wasn't as though Vasuman ever really desired to be anything more than what he was. Being a soldier was just fine with him, really, but he did what was expected of him. His sister was up at the top of the food chain, while he was at the lower end of it. Surely, he was expected to aim for greatness, as Agni had? Honestly, he didn't know. He just did what he was told, whether it was a direct order or something he assumed he had to do, like the Tournament he was now in.

Shaking his head, Vasuman re-focused on his opponent across from him. She was a dark-coated lioness and he vaguely remembered someone telling him that she was already a Brigadier. He wouldn't let that intimidate him, however. Not yet, anyway. Right now, he was in a battle, he kept reminding himself as she paced this way and that, before the Soldier finally faced the lioness, leaped at her and landed a hit.

Second Move - 1, Miss

Vasuman should've been prepared, of course he was going to get what he delivered when facing off against a Brigadier. The low rumble in his throat was the only sign he gave of being bothered by the return hit. Well, that paired with the fact that when he went to attack her again, he outright missed. Now that did bother him. He could only hope that he could pull this fight back to his favor.

Third Move - 1, Miss

Vasuman saw the opening she left, he was so sure he would be able to hit her! So ready to be able to claim the upper rank and move ahead in the Tournament! His sister would have to take note of him now and by winning this match and others to come, he would do it!

But life isn't full of happy endings. Life is full of reality and the reality of the situation was that he was a solider facing off against someone who was further ahead of him, closer to his sister's rank than he would ever be, it seemed. For even when she left herself open to attack, he missed a second time.

Now he was growling, if only because he couldn't believe that he had missed a second time. No more, he thought. He still had a fighting chance to change the outcome of the fight.

Fourth Move - 3, Hit

She was smiling at his constant failings. She was mocking him. He would wipe that smile off her face if it was the only thing he managed to achieve during the entire fight. Willing his temper into strength, Vasuman pushed himself forward and somehow managed to get close enough to her to slam his paw against her head. Unfortunately, he was gloating over his hit so much, he didn't think about making a hasty getaway and fumbled over his back paws. Whoops. Well, at least he had hit her, right?

Fifth Move - 1, Miss

That's what he got for being cocky, he supposed. His hits just weren't landing and now he was going to pay for being out of practice. If this fight would serve one purpose, despite his not winning it (as chances were slight at this point, he realized) it would force him to actually practice so the next time, he would win.

Anyone who came up to him after this fight better beware. He would fight anyone who looked at him funny.

Ahhh, so close, yet so far! Poor Vasu, he's gonna be such a grump IC after this fight. xD

Vasuman was ready for the finishing blow that would cause his defeat, but one never came. He blinked, waiting as he sat albeit awkwardly, only to witness his opponent slip on the sand and fall to the ground. When she didn't get up, he stood and was approaching her to see what had happened, when the dark-coated lioness got to her paws and admitted defeat.

Vasuman became slack-jawed. He had won? After that display? Well, he wasn't about to argue the fact. If she said he won, he would take it.

"Uh, yeah. Thanks." He said, awkwardly. "G-Good, uh, good fight." And then he started to back up, still trying to process what exactly what had happened, pride starting to show on his face. Now, he would be a Corporal.
