He needed to find her.

His sister might have disagreed with him moving with quite so much gusto in his current state, but at this particular moment in his life he couldn't give a rat's a** what her opinion might be. One might have said that the otherwise good humoured lion had finally lost his temper - the events of the last week had caused him to snap and he was no longer going to ignore what he needed to do. He'd been blind and was going to continue to be blind until he sought help.

Unfortunately for the individual he was looking for that 'help' came in the form of her unique set of skills. She might have hidden herself away in shame, a shame he couldn't entirely understand given his newness to his home, but he fully intended to utilise the abilities she had.

Thus it should have come at no surprise that the newly promoted Captain could be seen storming back up the cliff side and into the mists. He would locate Arina by any means necessary at this point, even if it meant setting his warband on her. Suffice to say that it might all have sounded a little bit extreme but it occurred to him that he was now operating on a very strict timeline and speed was of the essence.

"Arina!" he demanded, ignoring the disgruntled protests his injuries were currently making. "If you're hear I need a word."

A pause.

"Now."

User ImageIt wasn't that she had been thinking about him that much. Sure, he had a bit of an odd disposition and his hipper way of speaking to her had left an impression of sorts, but it wasn't as though the white lion had been a constant occupant in her mind, or anything. Still, it just so happened that at the moment Arina heard her name on the wind, the lion to whom the voice belonged had been in her thoughts.

Rumors spread fast, and though the lioness was less likely to come across them due to her avoidance of the main areas of chatter, she still heard the big things. The big things, like the homecoming of a band that had taken a substantial loss. It wasn't often that reavers returned without their captain. According to the hush hush, it was an outsider—one who hadn't even been in the pride for a huge amount of time—that was named the captain's successor.

She didn't even know if the lion she had in mind was even on that Viking. And there was plenty of new blood in the past months of warrant anyone being put in the role. Still, Tethys had made enough of an impression on her to warrant her curiosity.

It was the peculiar way in which he had spoken to her that Arina was thinking of when she heard her name. It was a particularly foggy afternoon and the lioness' pelt disappeared into the whiteness. She moved from the rocks, having chosen in this weather to avoid the particular cliff-side where they had conversed before and instead emerging a bit closer to the where the cliffs descended to the beach.

Making her way towards the voice, it was first the familiar blue markings that caught her eye. Then, it was the wounds. A pale blue eyes narrowed, and only then did she process the seriousness of his tone.

Peculiar indeed.

"Tethys." Her greeting was curt and, at this time at least, she chose not to question the wounds. If he'd chosen to come find her as opposed to rest his injuries there must have been some sort of urgency. "Can I help you?" Questions flooded her mind, but Arina did her best not to look too wound up by it. Whether or not her question referred to his need for a word or his need for medical attention she left ambiguous, but it was likely she meant both. Something about being sought out specifically for help felt… good. Somewhere within her, Arina felt uncharacteristically eager.

There she was, she appeared in much the same fashion as she had done so before, slipping almost silently out of the mists. If he were more superstitious he might have assumed that she was simply a part of it. Hell, for all he knew she could very well be given that he never saw her in the township, but given his current need for assistance he wasn't about to question whether or not he was being assisted by another spirit, or a genuine being.

"More than you know," he had already dismissed his own injuries even if they were a curiosity to the lioness and he motioned for her to follow. At this time, the mists probably weren't the best location for him to reside in, they were going to cause him to stiffen up. He needed slightly more warmth, particularly when he knew that his adrenaline would eventually run out and he would need to at least take a few moments to breathe.

"Come with me," he ordered without further explanation.

All things considered he was able to move swiftly, whatever had harmed him hadn't damaged his legs. Nevertheless it should have come as a relief to Arina to notice that he wasn't heading towards the township, on the contrary he was headed away from it and towards the shoreline. For some reason certain areas closer to the water seemed to feel warmer and he was going to use this to his advantage...

The tone of his voice—the order—gave her nose the slightest of wrinkles. Some lionesses that she knew would have turned up their chin and left because of that tone. Arina only paused, considering the white lion as he moved away with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. It had been a long while since someone had spoken to her in a tone that even remotely resembled an order. Not since the single time she had left the pride, she ventured.

When she did follow him it was silently, at first. Her tail brushed against the ground and she moved a few paces behind the lion, pale eyes still moving over him—the way he walked, the wounds that adorned his body.

"Are you just going to ask things of me without any sort of explanation, then?" Arina waited until they were closer to the shore, out of the harsher ocean winds up at the cliffs, to speak again. Her voice held a little sass, but she didn't sound particularly irritated. Even if Tethys declined to give her any sort of information chances were she would still help him out. It wasn't as if she had anything better to do.

Tethys glanced round to shoot her an expression that seemed to indicate he was done with any form of sass or backchat for the day. However, this expression immediately vanished and was replaced by a weary one, his brain had clearly caught up with him and quietly reminded him that she was not his sibling or a particular priestess. The two might yap in his ear all day but that didn't mean Arina should have those frustrations taken out on her.

"If I try to offer an explanation at this particular moment in time, I'll just sound insane," he stated, he sat down and raked a paw through his mane. "That and if I allow you a moment of airtime you might lecture me about healthcare and I really could not give the slightest s**t about that right now," he continued. Truth be told a large portion of his sister's nagging in the last hour or so had been on that very subject. He would get fixed when he was ready, but he wasn't about to lose his train of thought.

...Not right now.

"Remember when you said you could help me fight without being able to see?" it was a mostly rhetorical question, but he asked anyway. "I'm going to need to ask you to do that for me now," he said at last. In those moments he finally outlined why he had so abruptly appeared, even if he hadn't exactly specified why he needed to learn such a trait.

"Please." He added, remembering his manners.

Arina didn't say anything as Tethys spoke. She just watched him, expression neutral. It was when he had finished that she moved forward. Her beath left her in a sigh and the white lioness closed the distance between them, moving closer until she was siting but a pace or two in front of him. The warmer sea breeze had bushed her bangs from her face and both eyes—the pale blue and the glassy white—looked him in the eye.

"Look," she started, her voice sounding distant but gentle. "I've seen lions here to a multitude of things for a multitude of reasons, from the heroic to the villainous. They put minds and bodies at risk for every reason the sun." Her mouth pressed into a thin line and her gaze remained pressed to him. "What I mean to say is that I have no intention on lecturing you. It's your body. You have the right to do whatever you want to do with it."

She had become more than used to the Stormborn stubbornness. It seemed, at times, that this particular pride rewarded it. Arina was herself a result of such mentalities, so she wasn't one to argue it.

"If you need help, I'll give it," she murmured, her head tilting to the side just a touch. Her hair fell over her face, this time partially obscuring her good eye. Watching him through the strands of hair, she continued, her lulling voice almost blending in with the crash of the waves. "Close your eyes."

How refreshing. Arina had once again caused herself to stand apart from the others who seemed so determined to instruct him in how to live his life. His sister still hadn't gotten used to the fact that he was no longer under her thumb, the pride had given him a sense of purpose and a position in society that was respected... Not that he didn't appreciate her concern, but she could save the rest of her lectures for motherhood.

He afforded a half smile at the lioness's remarks, all in all, she merely seemed to accept the way things were here...or perhaps it was simply a case of her not being as invested in the lives of those around her. For all he knew she might lecture her parents and siblings with much greater fervor as she had a more significant connection to them...

"Thank you," he said at last, acknowledging her decision to leave him be and to help him. Granted he hadn't anticipated she would begin to help him immediately, but he wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. Instead he did as he was told, settling into a more comfortable position and allowing his eyes to fall shut...

For a moment after Tethys followed her instruction, Arina only say quietly. Thoughtfully. And she'd be lying if she said that she didn't take a moment to give him another look over. It must have said something about the Stormborn culture that the wounds made him seem more endearing…

Arina caught the thought in her head and she moved away, starting to walk a slow and languid circle around him. "I've been thinking about our last conversation," she started. "About fighting something you can't see." The lioness closed her eyes herself. She felt the sandy earth beneath her paws. With her eyes closed, she tried to imagine the distance between them. Manipulated the comprehension of that distance in her mind. She could feel as if she were inches away, and then feel as though they were miles apart.

If questioned, she wouldn't think the she was acting passively towards Tehtys' condition as a result of them not being close. Perhaps she would have treated a family member or a close friend differently, but she didn't have much to base that from. Arina was an only child to parents that were long since deceased, and her companions were few and far between. If anything, Tethys and his plights had occupied her mind more than any singular lion had in a long while.

"We rely so much on our vision. We use our sight to build our perception of the world around us. Obviously just because we don't see, it doesn't mean the world just disappears." Ontological rambling to try to convey thoughts that she didn't quite know how to put into words. "There's something that ties us to this world beyond sensory input. Something like Instinct."

Her meandering took her closer to him, now. Her eyes opened and she say again, near but not too close. "Think on it. It's something within you that no one can just show you. You just have to be accepting and patient, regardless of any fear or anger or whatever this quest of yours might throw in your way."

She was speaking in riddles that he couldn't comprehend; his expression became quizzical at her ramblings and while he was attempting to understand the information she was trying to convey, it was somewhat lost on him. Perhaps it was the fact that the longer he sat still, with his eyes closed, the more noisy his mind became. Add that to the fact that his limbs had now decided to remind him that they existed and he was thoroughly distracted.

Lost, even.

He was absolutely appalling at meditation, but Arina's voice was very soothing, he had to give her that. Had she ever tried being a healer? She could probably lull anyone to sleep and have them wake up right as reign the next day. He furrowed his brow to dismiss the thought, there would be time to mull over that later, for now though; Instinct.

...Except he had instinct, and that tended to kick in, even when he wasn't blind. Was he supposed to just rely on the slight paranoia that occurred when your fur rippled up your spine? Only to find out that a butterfly had landed behind you... He wasn't so sure that was entirely reliable.

It was with a sigh that he opened his eyes again and shook his head.

"You're saying this is just something that turns itself on whenever it fancies it?" he asked and shook his head. "That's hardly...practical. How did you make it happen for you?"

He was a crap student as well, apparently.
