She felt...reasonably confident.

She wasn't entirely sure whether or not her meeting had gone well with the High Priestess, but it certainly hadn't gone badly. She hadn't been thrown out or dismissed roughly, and she'd gained some valuable insights as well. All things considered she had much to think on and perhaps in time her goal would be attainable. She would go away once more and study, find further direction, and then perhaps she would approach Kluna again.

If her brother had the tenacity to achieve what he wanted, let no one doubt that she did too.

Nevertheless, for the time being her business was concluded with the High Priestess and she wasn't going to trouble or distract her further. Instead, the white lioness made her way towards the inner areas of the pride where the majority of the residents resided. As she expected, the trade areas were bustling and the well, more 'festive' areas were just as filled with activity as always.

...Damn drunks.

Nothing was out of the norm for the most part. At least, she had seen everything there was to see.

Drunk Reavers back from a successful Viking? Check.
Ambitious young lionesses actively seeking said reavers while vulnerable? Check.
Thralls performing their duties as required? Check.

Yes, there was nothing out of the ordinary at all; except for what could be described as the fattest lion she had seen in a while. A small part of her sincerely hoped all of that was fur.

"You have got to be the fattest lion I have seen in here to date," she said at last as she regarded the stranger. "When you go on Vikings do they roll you at their enemies?" She continued, only half joking... She wasn't even sure he was a Reaver, for all she knew, he might have been a Freeborn with no self control regarding his appetite!

Bjorn had been enjoying his afternoon as he usually did, half asleep under a tree. The tree he’d chosen today was in a more high traffic area, but still he expected very little in the way of disruptions – he was wrong. A voice belonging to a female interrupted his half asleep daze and his eyes began to move behind closed lids before they opened to reveal alarmed blue eyes.

“Pardon?” The plump lion hadn’t noticed just how much weight he had gained while left to his own device and so he didn’t have anything better to retort with beyond his quick question.

Trying to get his wits about him to try and perhaps be more involved beyond one word statements he got to his feet, but even then found himself dropping to his rump in a huff. Now a little more awake he noted the females look of almost.. disgust? Still he remained silent.

Was that really the best he could do?

He was just as sloth like has his chubby form indicated and she did eventually draw the following conclusion: he was probably a reasonably well bred Freeborn who ate far too much and exercised far too little.

"When you go on Vikings," she repeated slowly, pronouncing each word in a much more deliberate fashion as though she were addressing a small (and not entirely intelligent) child. "Do they roll you at their enemies?" she finished and lifted a paw to press the 'toe' against her cheek. She was all too aware that the lion had heard her, in fact she was positive he had.

Truth be told, she knew that spluttering, her brother did it all the damn time. Whoever this chubby fluff ball was, he didn't have the slightest idea how to respond to her. All that alcohol and rich meat had addled his brain to the point that he was as smart as a starfish.

"Or do you just burp at them and disable them with the stench of your breath?" she continued along much the same line of reasoning...

Ears swiveled forward and then folded back, blue eyes stared in disbelief, but then narrowed below a furrowed brow. This conversation had reminded him of one he’d had not too many moons ago – one he had had with his daughter. Though if he could remember correctly, his daughter hadn’t been so colorful in her word choices.

“Now.. you listen’.” Bjorn began. “How.. How dare you!” Stumbling over his words, clear proof that he had likely consumed enough alcohol to at least validate her point. “My burps are delightful.” The blue lion raised a paw and waved it about as if that would help to explain anything, as if these were complicated topics. “You and Zjarri can give it a bloody rest.”

The name slipped across his tongue as though the lioness, a stranger, would know who his daughter was. Though perhaps now, with her achievements that was a possibility now – still he wasn’t even sure of exactly what he had been saying to begin with, tomorrow he’d barely recall the beginning of this conversation. He was certainly wasting away.

Wooooow, he was even further gone than Tethys had been! In those moments she had the urge to torture him, admittedly, not in the violent sense. No, no... She wanted to find out where this very fluffy, chubby individual lived, and as the sun raised up, make as much noise as she physically could.

Bangs, clatters, screams, shrieks.

Hell, if she'd been able to draft in squealing kids she would have absolutely done so and bribed them so thoroughly that they jumped on his stomach like some sort of trampoline. He'd be suffering from such a debilitating headache that he wouldn't be able to retaliate. It was incredibly childish, but the urge was real and grown adult or not, the lioness was finding it rather difficult to dismiss the idea. Clearly her brother was rubbing off on her, every now and then the inner cub shone through.

"Your burps are delightful, are they?" she repeated in a low drawl, observing him as he stumbled poorly over his words and reacted to her in much the same fashion as the majority of drunks did.

"That's a rather impressive statement to make," she mused after a moment of two of watching him gesticulate. "Would you like to test that theory by assisting in a scientific experiment...?" she asked with an extraordinary level of patience. Quite frankly she didn't know why she was bothering, but she was rather curious to see what would happen if she did make him burp on a plant. Maybe it would wilt, maybe it wouldn't, but if it did wilt that would be fantastic - he'd be a walking weapon!

If the lion had any idea of her thoughts he'd likely have escaped while he could, but instead he hadn't the foggiest and nor was he currently able to read further into the motives of the lioness. As far as Bjorn was concerned he was being challenged at her request, not asked, no.

"Challenge accepted! You'll regret the day you challenged Reaver Bjorn." Paws lifted in a dramatic sweeping motion to display all of him - from tip of his nose to the tip of his toes he was quite the fluffy guy, belly shook a small amount, buts tilled quickly - so there was muscle, somewhere.

"My burps are the most delightful. Best you'll find, a sure fire win in this challenge!" He rocked himself forward, harshly, to bring himself to all four paws and standing up entirely - after a quick sway he was able to kind of gather himself for standing still, but his vision blurred and he felt himself losing a different challenge entirely... fortunately he held down all of his alcohol and food. At least for now.

She couldn't help herself... The lioness reached out with her paw and gave the unsteady lion a nudge. At least he wasn't completely overweight, she could see some belly but the rest of him was all right. All she knew with absolute certainty was that he was absolutely hammered. She did have to wonder if that was all some reavers did all day when they weren't out on a Viking - get drunk and sleep with the nearest easy lioness?

...Seemed accurate based on some of her observations.

Still, she was almost positive this one wouldn't even be capable of reproduction in his current state. Hell, at the moment he seemed like he could barely hold whatever he had consumed down. Sway a little too far and he might be staying on his side for some time. She had to applaud his enthusiasm though, there was still some fire in his belly even if he was most assuredly not worthy of respect at this moment in time.

He was a curiosity, she did have to wonder what had caused him to lose interest in his own physique. After all, most Reavers seemed to be rather prideful and someone this unhealthy would be easy for a healthy being to best in battle.

"I don't burp," she stated as she stepped back from her nudge. "It's unbecoming."

It’s unbecoming.”

Bjorn mimicked the lioness in a mocking tone akin to that of a juvenile. “You think you’re so high and mighty – think you’re just the best thing since fermented fruit!” A growl rumbled deep in his throat and his eyes seemed to clear up a touch. Anger, even a small amount of grief touched his tones – there was clearly something amiss with his sudden outburst.

The lion dropped back down and leaned against the tree, seeking support from something real, something actually there. He’d been experiencing some up and downs lately, particularly a fairly hard low. His mate had been infrequently there his most happiest moments were with her, in fact all of his moments were with her. He hadn’t held himself together nearly as well as he had thought in his time away from her and now he wasn’t sure when or if he’d see her again. Time was escaping him and a depression that he had hidden was taking it’s toll.

“Have you ever been in love?” Blue eyes looked away from the lioness, his words were spoken quietly and broken up between small, unbecoming dry sobs, as he tried to hold himself together through something obviously rattling him.

There it was, she had finally gotten to the root of the problem. This lion was suffering from some sort of grief; well, it was similar to grief anyway. He was certainly in a depressive state and given that every individual handled difficult circumstances differently, this appeared to be his method. Given that she had never lost anyone in this manner she wasn't entirely sure of how she personally would have handled it herself.

Suffice it to say...she hoped that she would handle it a bit better.

"No, I haven't," she replied honestly as she regarded the lion the lion carefully. She had never looked for that type of bond, it certainly hadn't been readily available when she was growing up even if neither parent had prevented her from trying to find it. However she had never really had any inclination to pursue that anyway, she'd never met anyone who simply made her turn her head and pay attention for him...

"I do think I am the best thing since fermented fruit though," she added with a wry smile before shaking her head. Where was her brother when she needed him, he was better at handling the emotional.

Bjorn, appearing more and more like the broken hearted fool he had become, looked to the lioness when she answered him - he remained silent at first then burst into loud laughter that shook his whole body.

"You do, do you!?" He smiled, though it appeared a little sad as his laughs subsided completely. "One day you will love and on day that may fade away. Then perhaps we may swap places." Blue eyes stared at her face, searching her eyes intently. "Though I'd wish this pain on no one - not even my worst enemy."

Then the male made an attempt at righting himself, that ended with him slumped forward a touch, but at least he was seated properly. "I ought to be making my way back to my den, try to sleep some of this off now that you've reminded me of what I was trying to forget in the first place." He grumbled out loud while pulling himself to his paws.

"Good day."

Sure, the word good had been said - his tone certainly didn't covey that message as he decidedly took his leave from her company.

Yep, probably should have relied on her brother to placate this one.

She watched as he wandered away and shook her head; all in all, if she'd been the superstitious sort she might have gone out of her way to cleanse away his indirect curse. He may not have wished it on her, but he could very well have jinxed her!

Perhaps he would feel better when he sobered up?

Rather than dwell on it, the lioness merely turned on her heel and began to make her way back to her own den, she did have things to do after all.
