Asha gave a grin, watch the black leopard closely for a moment. Her golden eyes bore into him with an intensity that she often used when she was patrolling. She scrutinized him closely. She had thought a lot about the decision to promote him as she move up in ranks herself, and she felt like he could do it.
He would just have to prove himself, of course. She felt he was experienced enough, but she still wanted to do a patrol with him.
Just to be sure of course.
"It will be a normal patrol. Except," She paused, turning her stare away from him, looking towards the borders. "Today, you will be taking charge of the patrol," She wanted to see his decision making process and how he handled the responsibility, where she could observe him.
"After today, if you do well, I'll place you in charge of a small patrol group, and we'll see where it goes from there." She told him, her shoulders rolling before she relaxed.

Those eyes, gold as the sun, were sizing him up - he could feel it. Gwarredd stood still, not wavering under her stare and instead returned a stare of his own - though he hoped it made him look regal and fitting of the possible changes.
Oh how he could leap for joy, he'd have liked noting more than to pause the Head Guard in her step long enough to seek out Anju and pass along the good news, but of course he had to stay and make sure it was a success - one step at a time.
Don't get ahead of yourself.
Inhaling slowly and exhaling, just as he had taught himself many moons ago, he found his center again and smiled at Asha, a grateful grin. "I'm honored." He said. Though he had calmed himself he found it a touch difficult not to leap about. Looking ahead, instead of at her, he smiled to the border and sent a silent thanks to the Gods for such an opportunity, now to prove himself - fortunately the group patrol was days away, today he could focus on him.
"Shall we begin?"
He asked her, taking a step ahead - eager to begin himself.

Asha almost laughed at the over-eagerness that Gwarredd displayed, but her face only settled into that of amusement. Asha was planning on rising through the ranks as well, even though she could have started at the top. There was no one above her, but she felt the need to prove herself as much as anyone else.
When she had left the small group of healer - the original pride, it had been as an apprentice - a journeyman. She returned as a simple guard to nothingness - there had been nothing to guard. Fortunately, she had found Kilua, who decided to start the pride back from the nothingness.
She gave a hum. "We shall," Asha agreed, walking along with him, though keeping a step behind to watch how he reacted to the things around him.

Asha kept pace with the guard, easily watching him as he was meant to prove himself. He really had potential, and a sharper gaze that Asha had. Her hearing was better than her eyesight, but her Sight was strong as well. It helped when she her vision failed, but only sometimes. It had helped her more times than she remembered though. She hummed a bit.
"Well, there was an original group, long ago," Asha started. "Kilua's mother, and a few others who wanted to learn the trade of healing. I was there since then, I grew up with Kilua. There was no one for me to apprentice under as a guard, though, so I left and began my journey as a guard elsewhere."
It felt like so long ago now. It made her feel old and creaky, but her kids were still young. She wasn't that old, right?
"When I returned, I found only Kilua and no one else, and I had little Safuraa in tow. We eventually found this place, here," She gestured to the area around her. "And went out to find other healers and guards. It grew from there..."
