{PRP}Playing by the River {Nerina x Damien}

The fur of his pelts ruffled in the breeze as the dark male made his afternoon rounds. Damien scanned the area for signs of trouble. Luckily nothing appeared out of order. The borders were secured. As he made his way back through the pride he traveled along the river. It was pleasant and cooler. If he got thirsty he simply stopped for a drink.

On one such stop, his eyes noted movement further down stream. Curious he watched it until he realized it was an adol playing in the river. Damien guessed they were of the pride to be this far into the territory. He approached slowly to see what was going on, for he only saw the one. Were others around?

The young lioness appeared to be alone and simply playing in the river. He watched until she eventually noticed him and came out of the water. Damien regarded her solemnly as she said she liked his furs. His deep voice rumbled a slow reply, "they are to remind me of the great wrong I have done."

"What brings you out here alone?" He didn't think she should be out here all by herself. Of course, maybe she had permission, in which case it wasn't any of his business. He would feel bad if he should leave her here and she got injured.

He noticed her frown, but remained silent. Damien regarded her, then nodded slowly. Yes, he'd been wrong. The furs reminded him of it constantly.

"Ah I see. What is it you make with those?" He did chuckle softly at her question. "It's my job to be out here. I'm patrolling and making sure little ones like you don't come to harm. It really isn't safe to be in the water alone. If you want to continue looking I will stand guard for you."

He tilted his head as she spoke of what she liked to do. "Perhaps I could see what you have for sale someday." His den probably could use with some cheering up. Not too cheerful though.

"I will wait while you finish. Then I can escort you back or you can finish the patrol with me." He settled himself where he had a good look out and took up a sitting guard stance. Now he would watch her in the water and any trouble approaching by land.

He'd have to make an effort to remember her and find her once she had her own shop set up. That shouldn't be too hard since she looked a great deal like his own adopted daughter.

Damien rose to his paws when she mentioned she was about finished. There really wasn't much going on around here right now. She probably would have been fine on her own, but if he'd left he would have had serious doubts.

He eyed the sun position and the landscape before answering. "About half way I reckon. If you can carry your stones you can come along if you want."

Damien smiled to himself as the young female seemed eager to get going. He watched her gather up the items she'd found. Normally he would offer to help carry, but as he was patrolling and may need to fight he couldn't. He nodded, trusting her to do as she said.

"Very good. Come along then." He set out along his route, walking slowly and looking around. Everything continued to be quiet for the remainder of his patrol.
