[PRP] Good News (Mbali x Luci)

Mbali moved carefully around the den. She had sent Mwana away wanting to have the den to herself for when Luci got home. Not that Mbali didn't love Mwana dearly but today she had news to share with Luci and she wanted it to be just the two of them.

Mbali had suspected for awhile that she might be caring cubs but had held her tongue until she was sure. This morning she had been awoken by the movement of cubs from within and she was sure. She wasn't sure of course how much her body had already begun to show the pregnancy there was a distinct possibility that Luci had already figured it out but none the less Mbali was humming with excitement to tell her mate they were going to have babies!

Lucivar was worried. Ok well, he was worried but hopeful. Mbali had been steadily putting on weight the last little while and Lucivar rather doubted that her and Mwana had suddenly started hunting more than usual. He hoped he knew what it meant, but he was too afraid to speak that hope aloud, or even admit to it in his head. And yet he couldn't squash the hope that lived in his heart. He knew he hadn't been the most celibate of lions, certainly not in his youth when he had gone out viking far and wide, and there had been more than a handful of dalliances within the pride too -though that was long before he met and fell in love with his wife, so he figured he could be excused for them- And yet he had only ever come across one litter of his own.

He hadn't minded the lack of complications at home, and maybe there were other cubs of his out in the roguelands he just didn't know about. But... a small part of him had started to be rather worried. It was a quiet but persistent whisper in his mind. So few cubs, so few in all these years... what does that mean? What must it mean? He hadn't been able to bring himself to actually think of what it implicated, that he would be .... Even the word itself was unthinkable for him. And so he had worried, and fretted and felt guilt the likes of which he had never experienced before. But now, now he head hope. If Mbali really was pregnant, then he hadn't failed her. Hadn't failed the family they had both dreams off for so long. His beautiful, sweet wife would have the family she so richly deserved.

He had found himself sticking closer to the den of late, checking on his Beloved far more often than he used to. He still did his best to give her the privacy all females seemed to enjoy, but he knew he was coming dangerously close to hovering about her, and yet he couldn't seem to help it. He had seen Mwana earlier, off elsewhere in the pride. When he had asked, she had told him that Mbali had wanted some time in the den to herself, and so Mwana was going to go hunting for later. Lucivar had wanted to turn around and come straight home at that point but he had forced himself to take his time. If Mbali wanted some space, she would have hardly enjoyed him barging in on her. But he simply couldn't wait any longer. What if she was unwell? What if something was wrong? With a slight fluttering feeling in his chest he ducked into the entrance of their home and called out to her softly.

"Beloved? May I come in?"

The tan lioness froze when she heard her mate approach their home. She wasn't sure that she was ready to face him yet, she had still been working up the nerve, but he was here now. She put a smile on her face both scared and excited to tell her mate the good news.

"Of course." she called back to him. Butterflies began to flutter about her stomach along with the cubs who began to move again, Mbali smiled thinking it was likely their farther's voice that had caused them all to stir.

She had risen to her feet and move towards the mouth of the den. "Hello my love." she said in a smooth voice, the knowledge that she was going to be a mother already adding to her calm ways, she was a nurturer by nature. She leaned forward and gave her mate a deep nuzzle.
